Image- The denotation is rather clear

and just shows what appears to be a tall white house or shop with a very big bay window at the front. There is also the band in the front window which is clearly seen by the eye ` when looking at it. The building is the only one in the picture that has no real colour apart from the cream or white it is covered in. The house is of a white colour which, when looking at it in a more in depth view makes it look very clean and innocent and pure. The colour may also be seen as a very boring and dull colour that has nothing to it which may reflect the views some people may hold on the music genre. The band members are in clear view in the window but arent show in a close up shot portraying the fact that the band maybe well known. The neighbouring buildings have dark colours on them which may lead to the conclusion that they have dark historys or arent as pure as the white building. The back cover is also of the white building with a window in view that is very dark. This could suggest that although on the outside the building looks very boring and dull it has things that are different going on to peoples judgements, maybe linking with the views of the music genre of some people.

Copy- The font of the album cover is of a very old and Victorian style with a dark black colour used to
write it. It stands out well from the pure white background of the image that is placed behind it. The font with the bands name is designed in more of a bold style to the rest of the text on the album. The track names on the back cover are of a very light affect with the same font. The bold style writing for the bands name is written in bold font to make it stand out more than the rest of the writing surrounding it. This is to draw the target audiences attention straight to it. The reason for both the front cover writing and back cover writing is wrote in a black colour while being placed over a white colour background is to show that even though the music genre looks very dull, the songs, genre and band all have more to offer than meets the eye and have more depth to their music and work than a lot of people actually think.

Target Audience- The target audience is of

the ages between late teens to mid 30s. The band isnt an amazingly big band but is well known within that genre of music. You can tell the target audience is of a range because the members themselves arent very old but the costume style they are wearing is of a very old style. They also play none mainstream types of instruments such as a double bass and banjo. The typical audience to that genre is a much older age to what they are appealing to. Folk music is usually set towards the older age group (40 years old+). Because the band members are of an early age it does appeal to a younger target audience.

Genre- The genre is of a folk/rock type of

music genre. This is particularly listened to by the working class people and mainly following a Christian background. By looking at the name of the band you can tell it is a folk/rock band as it is a very different style of name for a band and you wouldnt expect to see a pop group for example having this name. The name of the album and track names are of very depressing and very meaningful names. Sigh no more gives a very depressing feels to the album and gives a quick in-depth look at the feel of this music. All of the track names are of a very peaceful feel and reflect the slow but very meaningful style of the folk genre. The bands costume is of a very old almost indie style costume which appears a lot in the folk genre and the instruments they are posing with again enforcesBy looking at the front cover of the Artist- the feel of the folk genre attempting to be put you can tell that this album artforward to people. band isnt very bothered if they are in clear view of the target audience or if they are made to look good. They are standing in a shop window with a very nostalgic style of clothing and are standing with very old styled instruments that arent really associated with a lot of modern type music which is giving the feel that this band and their music isnt like a lot of the modern styles that are in the charts and they basically do things how they feel is best and dont feel the need to show themselves more than anything else of the front cover and instead show more in the picture with them to almost make people question what they are doing?

Representation- The main picture is

showing a big shop. The shop isnt a massive superstore you usually see on a high street but is more of a village style shop. Villages are associated with being very rural and peaceful and almost stuck in a nostalgic setting. This could then also represent the genre of music that this band plays. Folk music is a very small genre of music and is mainly listened to in villages and quiet nostalgic places where communities are very close and old fashioned. The costume they are wearing is also a very old style type of fashion and could again represent them and the music they are mainly involved in. The picture shows the whole band together and not just one of the band members which represents that the whole group is important and not only one person is important, they all are.

Enigma- There isnt really a major enigma

created in either the front of back cover of the album art. A few questions that could be asked about the album art are; why are the band members standing in a shop window with their instruments? Why would they name the songs these unusual names? Do they have any meanings to them?
