About this Book
This book is a miscellaneous of philosophical articles I wrote on my blog http://humanrevolution.in hosted on http://wordpress.com in the past year about Self Help and Daily Inspiration. My Human Revolution is a journey to self in shaping the tree of life with all the wisdom. Book writing is one of my greatest fantasies. I used to write lot of letters to my friends in which we use to discuss lots of ideas. With the revolution in communication my letter writing habit got diluted and on the same time I came across with the establishment of this blog. This eBook is a result of good encouragement I received from the readers of my blog. I have compiled the printable version of its contents in the form of this eBook and distribute for free of cost. The compilation is picks from the period of May 2007 to December 2008. Mode of this book is interactive as all the articles are blog posts. I have also incorporated the dates of postings with the articles.

In the blog I have initiated with a series known as Random Human Revolution (RHR) it means performing randomly an act of Human Revolution. It is an interpersonal skill for self improvement which can be undertaken by anyone after doing a little introspection. In the book I have compiled the RHR inspirations in the side bars. This ebook has also come on your way of changing for good.

The editing and design of this book has been done by me. Please note that I am not a professional editor instead a mediocre reader; all content is a copy and paste from my blog and hope you’ll find this handbook quite inspirational. Wheresoever’s the sources of images have been realised I have tried my best to specify the original sources. I hope you will enjoy reading this compilation. Every suggestion will be appreciated. For a better experience you can print it on A4 format page. I hope you will enjoy reading this compilation. Every suggestion will be appreciated.1

I dedicate all these writings to my parents.

An Endeavour to Change for Good

Hello World

odern life of cities & towns filled with most of the material enjoyment is lacking the spiritual delight and in this fast scenario we are swayed away by it, without getting any time to contemplate much.

The heavenly hush of this beautiful evening with the vast blue sky on which some little clouds at the horizon, countless smiling stars in the background, at the horizon ice tops of Majestic Himalayas (Chud Chandani) makes my place a divine paradise. Looking at this treasure of wealthy environment it seems that the artist has poured all its pleasures into the canvas. Every bit of Mother Nature fills my heart with divine

This pious feel in this cosmos makes our struggling life quite undemanding. This time of my life is in fact very joyful and to a certain extent I have put an endeavour to feel so by analysing my joy with some acts which I wish to share with you in my eBook (weblog). This joy can’t be measured with words but simply can be experienced by fixing some small acts to be performed during the cycle of the day.

In the fourth decade of my life I have experienced this joy by carrying out some experiments through way of life. I will be enlisting most of them, by doing so I shall be making my entire pledges firm and you’ll be getting a glass to have glance into it.

This all inspires me to write. This era in Time Machine mesmerises and gives me this wonderful opportunity to share the same with you…2

Time to Live

f I keep aside the facts of WHO and assume that in case I were to live 80 years I possessed 365 X 80 = 29,200 days only. Out of this, because I am 34 years old I have consumed 365 X 34 = 12,410 days so I am left with 16,790 days. Out of this

If I take my shortest sleeps of 6 hrs daily I will be sleeping for 1,07,310 hrs (i.e. 4472

days). In each day of mine I was working genuinely for 4 to 5 hrs daily at most and If I keep on working up to the attainment of 70 years age which means that my working age left is 14,235days or 71,175 hrs (without excluding holidays) If I start working more i.e. 10 to 14 hrs daily I can stretch my working age to its utmost value i.e. (39X365X12=) 1,70,820 hrs. Right away I realized that I should not waste my remaining time and I tried to plunge myself giving thought to my dream projects and lately writing this article. Each day, on almost every day there’s a decision that each of us has to make, for each of us needs to decide for ourselves, whether to give or to take, whether to bring peace or strife… and that is the daily decision that reflects the whole rest of our life. Imagine the morning time for a child. The alarm has just gone off, waking him from a deep and peace full sleep. With a groan he drags himself out of bed and pulls the curtains. It is raining outside. He felt very nice. Suddenly he remembers that he has not completed his Math’s home work. He was afraid of punishment from the teacher. His mother enters the room and asks to take bath. He cried “can’t u see I m doing my home work?” This is not the time to do the home work. U should finish it in last evening” she says. He does some of his work and then starts getting ready for the school. He demands his 500 bucks to buy a book because his teacher has asked for

the same. His father is crying now “What the hell is this? You always ask at eleventh hour. You cannot do anything in your life. I know you will fail this year.” He realizes his fault. Somehow, he gets ready and catches his bus. When he reaches school he comes to know that due to some reasons the school is closed today, he feels very happy. He is back home and comes to know that doors are locked and he don’t have the keys. He decides to go to his friend. When he reaches there he finds that the friend and his sister are involved in a discussion. He asks them to share some thing

with him. They are talking about some laws of science. They explain him the same. He feels very good. In the course of this short episode however he has experienced the eight worlds of Hell, Hunger, Animality, Anger, Tranquillity, Realization. We all can relate this short story to our daily lives. We also go through so many different emotions and desires in a day. It is therefore important to learn how to get the best of all these different states of life and the best way is this practice only. One should be encouraged to employ his/her potential in a way to squarely confront and overcome the very real challenges of their daily lives, in order to realize and manifest the profound potential of their life and to fulfill their unique life purpose. I firmly believe that this process of inner spiritual transformation or “Human Revolution,” leads to not only individual empowerment but is the surest way to direct humankind’s energies toward Rapture, Learning and
Expand your Horizon

Last month I got opportunity to have these tiny  insignificant experiences which lays foundation  of my RHR series. I interacted with some guys  who  always  were  in  my  surroundings  but  never had dialogued with them.  The Gatekeeper:
I  just  shook  hand  to  him  just  to  make  him  feel  good and in turn he paid a special attention to me  and shared his many things with me. Ironically to  my wonder, he came out to be brother of a very  reputed person of my locality.

Fighting Sweepers:
I  always  found  both  of  them  quarreling  due  to  their wrongly allocated duties by their supervisor.  One day I interrupted and interacted with them  one by one. They were serving in the office as part  time job. One is expert of Mobile Set repairs and  another  one  is  running  drycleaning  services  in  vicinity.  Both  of  them  happily  offered  their  discounted services to me in a case I needed it.

Humble Office Boy:
I  never  paid  attention  to  him  but  I  always  overheard his conversation with fellow colleagues  and  observed  his  humility.  One  evening  when  I  was  returning  back  from  office  he  hurriedly  banged  the  door  and  ran  out  of  gate  and  disappeared. I drove on motorbike after him and  caught  him  on  the  next  curve.  He  was  almost  running. I asked him if he needed a lift. There was  gratitude in his eyes, on the way he shared that he  required to reach city hospital in next 20 minutes  as his father’s eyes are being operated. I changed  my  route  for  him  and  made  him  reach  his  destination. I was able to observe that he gave a  very special treatment to me after this.

creating a peaceful and prosperous world. Applying human revolution in daily life and much more from me is yet to come.

Early Death

here are many explanations about life. In the shortest way life is identified by activity, but the question arises what kind of activity? Let’s try to find out in the words of Swami Vivekananda.

Life is a challenge to meet, Gift to accept, An adventure to share, A sorrow to overcome, A tragedy to face, A duty to perform, A game to play, An opportunity to take, A journey to complete, A promise to keep, A love to enjoy, A beauty to praise, A spirit to realise, A struggle to fight, A goal to achieve, and lastly A puzzle to solve.

While seeking to realize even a part of these noble objectives, we shall be having a life of fulfilment.

All of us have been entrusted by God with a concrete assignment. And to this end, he has equipped us with unique set of abilities. There is nobody in this world who remains worthless if he is really eager to do something commendable and when he realizes the potentiality with which he is sent to this world. On the other hand how much so ever the talent a person may possess, if he is ambitionless he gradually becomes a good for nothing. Each of us can contribute our bit to the good of the world by bringing out the best in us.

Without activity life will become purposeless and would loose its very basis. Significance of life is not only duration but donation. How much you have contributed to the world. Fame makes life immortal –”Keertir Yasyaas Jeevati“, We live in deeds

not in Years.

But life is not a bed of roses; procrastination is man’s biggest enemy. He who continues to live in the state of hibernation is similar to inanimate or inert material. A sleeping fox catches no poultry. Without concrete manifestation and fruitful synthesis of thought and action, nothing can be attained. It is an early death.

Of course all people can’t develop a persona with a halo. Great people be in any field are rare. If in his whole lifespan, a man provides selfless love or service to even one person, he utilizes his life in that way, because everyone is apart of society as a whole. The work of service may start from one’s kith and kin and then it should gradually spread as far it can go. Dedication to the service of any kind makes man imperishable. In Rig Veda (ancient
Indian collection of hymns 1700–1100 BCE), it is

Are you humble?  Getting  into  the  state  of  humbleness  at  a  certain  point  may  feel  you  getting  quite  unimportant  but  it  pays  in  the  longer  perspective. It is a quality of being courteously  respectful  of  others.  It  is  the  opposite  of  aggressiveness.  Rather  than,  “Me  First,”  Humbleness allows us to say, “No, You first, My  Friend.” Humbleness is the quality that lets us  go more than halfway to meet the needs and  demands of others.  Friendships and marriages are dissolved over  angry words. Resentments divide families and  coworkers. Prejudice separates race from race  and  religion  from  religion.  Reputations  are  destroyed  by  malicious  gossip.  Greed  puts  enmity  between  rich  and  poor.  Wars  are  fought over arrogant assertions.  Humbleness  as  a  virtue  is  a  major  theme  of  correctness. Why do qualities such as courtesy,  patience  and  the  quality  or  state  of  willingly  carrying out the wishes of others have such a  prominent place? It is because a demeanour of  Humbleness is exactly what is needed to live in  peace  and  harmony  with  all  persons.  Humbleness  dissipates  anger  and  heals  old  wounds.  Humbleness  allows  us  to  see  the  dignity  and  worth  of  all  God’s  people.  Humbleness distinguishes the wise leader from  the arrogant powerseeker.  Acting with Humbleness does not in any way  deny our own self worth. Rather, it affirms the  inherent  worth  of  all  persons.  Some  would  consider  Humbleness  to  be  a  psychological  malady  that  interferes  with  “success.”  However, wealth, power or status gained at the  expense of others brings only anxiety but never  peace and  love. Humility  is like a boomerang  sooner  or  later  it  comes  back  to  you.  In  the  longer  run  one  realizes  the  significance  of  getting humble.

written that “He is God who clothes the naked and heals the sick, who makes the blind see and cripple walk”. Lives of great man like Jesus Christ, Lord Gautam Buddha, Prophet Muhammad, Guru Nanak Dev and,

Ramakrishna Parmahansa illustrate the real purpose of life. Man had his second birth when he became conscious of this moral law, without which no civilization could come up.

Human desires and emotions are not wrong in themselves; otherwise they could not be sublimated. They have to be given higher and higher directions until they turn to supreme values of life. An individual’s happiness or misery depends not so much upon on his materialistic possessions as on the way his mind responds to life challenges. So let’s give new birth to ourselves and do all the good we can, as long as ever we can…

Our Mind Our Body

ast year I was suffering from a very unusual illness. I was suffering from hair loss from my face leaving patches with an inflammation. I was occupied with other things and I didn’t pay any attention to it for a whole two months. My

neighbour who was also suffering from the same disease, and is now entirely bald, told me that it is due to some infection caused by some micro-organisms present in water. He, further, warned me to prepare myself to face the eventuality of a body without hairs. I was horrified for a while.

During clinical consultation, it was explained to me that my condition was caused by different types of micro-organisms like bacteria, fungi, viruses, or even parasites. It is a condition that can involve fungal infection in which the fungus invades the hair shaft and root, and causes the hairs to break, and may also result in soreness. My condition, they told me, was not infectious. The Head of Skin Department at the State Hospital told me that in Allopathy there is no fool proof treatment for this disease. Most of their patients were struggling with it.

It was then that I decided that though I am going to get the best modern medicine had to offer, yet I would also start praying twice a day for the absolute eradication of my ailment. The doctors injected some drug into my skin, every alternate week, for about two months. Later they had to stop it because the drug was causing atrophy in my skin. Five months later the patches disappeared and I was absolutely fine, despite having stopped the treatment. My neighbour was most surprised to see this. Some people told me that my prayers had done the trick, while others gave the credit solely to the treatment and the idea of prayers curing a person was made fun of. For

me the most important element was wisdom from life, which guided me to pray acutely so that my condition could be correctly diagnosed by the experts, and finally treated. The mechanism of the phenomenon or the therapy had no significance to me. I found this self help experience wonderful and very close to my life. Eventually, I ended up documenting it.

Modern medical science is only beginning to explore the subtle interconnections

An Endeavour to Change for Good

between body and mind, between the physical and spiritual aspects of life. Both physical and spiritual aspects are vital manifestations of the life force that is inherent in the cosmos itself. Life at each moment encompasses both body and spirit, and both self and environment of all conscious beings in every condition of life, as well as non conscious like plants, sky and earth down to the most minute particles of dust. Life, at each moment, permeates the universe and is revealed in all phenomena. Medicine cannot solely cure us; it also requires a platform of life force, the source of which is our mind.

A person’s inner emotional state will be revealed in his or her physical appearance. The feelings of someone in a happy and optimistic mood are reflected in their face. In contrast, the way of walking and the drawn features of a person weighed down by suffering; communicate to us his or her inner torment, even from a distance. Our inner mental state also affects the physical functioning of our bodies. The most dramatic manifestations of this are laughter and tears, physical signs of our inner feelings. Mental or psychological stress has been linked to a range of illness from skin disorders, allergies, asthma and ulcers to cancer. Depression and hopelessness lower the body’s resistance, making us vulnerable to a variety of afflictions. On the other hand, a positive determination to overcome illness can “inspire” our organs and even individual cells toward health.

When our determination changes, everything will begin to move in the direction we desire. The moment we resolve to be victorious, every nerve and fibre in our being will immediately orient itself toward our success. On the other hand, if we think, ‘This is never going to work out,’ then at that instant, every cell in our being will be deflated and give up the fight.” True health and genuine happiness must encompass both the physical and the spiritual. Many of the experiences of people relate to improved health, physical or material conditions. The source of the unhappiness is from the self that is spiritual disorder from within that produces the manifest effect in the environment. We also see many clear day-to-day examples of the connection between mind and body. For instance, when we are surprised or frightened, our faces turn pale. This is because fear causes blood vessel to constrict, decreasing the flow of blood to the skin.

The above examples illustrate how a spiritual change can bring about a physical change. But even more obvious are examples in which a physical change brings about a change in the mind or spirit. A simple toothache can change our entire outlook, making us irritable or even rude. Another obvious example of a physical change having a spiritual effect is the drinking of alcohol. A chemical that directly affects the body’s metabolism, alcohol can make an otherwise shy person outgoing, or even confrontational. An even more direct example is that of physical injury to the brain, which can cause a person to undergo a complete and permanent change in temperament and behaviour, depending on what specific part of the brain is damaged. The fact is that every human feeling, every thought, has some sort of physical manifestation even if only a delicate electrochemical change in the brain or nervous system.
Efficient Vs Perfectionist

Both the words are positive and seem to  be close but if we scrutinize, it is not so.  An  Efficient  is  one  who  produces  more  output  where  as  the  Perfectionist  may  bring  quality  produce  but  less.  So  you  can’t be both. It is just like Heisenberg’s  Uncertainty Principle in which when you  go to catch one parameter another one  is  out  of  your  hand.  You  have  to  plot  yourself  somewhere  between  the  both  coordinates.  When I restarted my writing I was in a  fix  to  produce  quality  writeups  or  to  touch  quantity  numbers.  I  tried  both  ways and decided it for myself to restrict  me at a point where I realized that I am  doing it in excess. The whole point is to  cope  up  with  it  there  and  then.  I  avoid  discussing  people  but  a  wonderful  example  crossed  my  head,  in  our  film  fraternity  most  of  us  know  the  rival  Khans, Shahrukh and Aamir. The former  is known for his Efficiency and the latter  is known for his Perfection. Here we see  that former is more social and the latter  is less and gives only one movie in a year  though it matches certain standards but  we can’t say that the other one produces  scrap.  Both  are  exceptionally  good  and  adored by masses, it is the matter of your  prioritizing a quality for you and landing  at point of contentment.  You have to tune yourself somewhere in  between  there  may  be  times  when  you  have to be more efficient and some times  you  have  to  be  uncompromising  until  you  reach  a  point  of  your  contentment  before  presenting  it.  Now  it’s  you  to  decide, “Who is the winner?”

With in these changes every situation we encounter in our life is a crystal clear logical effect to the cause we create for ourselves deliberately or

unintentionally. We comprehend it merely a few times. If there is ‘Night’ there is also ‘Day’, if there is ‘Sorrow’ there is ‘Bad’ there is is ‘Happiness’, also ‘Good’, if if there there is

a ‘Cause’ there has to be an ‘Effect’…

Let’s reap first rate quality and courageous Causes.

Our Environment

was offered tea, five to six times in a day, at the place where I have started

working a couple of months ago. Though I am not fond of tea, but I took it because everyone was doing so. Then, one day, I realized that I have adapted to the

environment by consuming a grand dose of it even though I never wanted to. I was doing it for the sake of company, or as a victim to the environment I am into. I just went into a whirlpool of thoughts regarding my environment

Initially, I found myself helpless in changing my environment, but my conviction told me change myself instead of trying to change the environment. Eventually, I decided to give up tea and it provided me with an idea for this article. We know that environment has an immense effect on people. Environment and the life of a person living in it are absolutely inseparable. When a single individual changes, it changes the entire society. When a person sparkles with life and vitality, so does the realm of his environment. This is the oneness of life and environment.

While we are influenced by the environment, the environment is also not left unaffected. We influence and change the environment just as much as the environment changes. It is like the body and its shadow, our lives being the body and environment, the shadow. An analogy can be the comparison of our lives with a body and the environment, its shadow. When the body bends the shadow bends too.

This is the place or land where we, the people, live and carry out our day-to-day activities. The state of a land is a reflection of the state of life of the people living on it. If the minds of living beings are impure, the land is also impure, but if the minds are
July 08, 2007

pure, so is the land. There are no two lands, but one; the pure and the impure are found on the same land- the difference lies solely in the good or evil in our minds.

These days we are aware – more than we have been in the past - of how important it is to foster and maintain our planet earth. But attempts to limit situations like global warming show us how people are not aware of their contribution to the problem as an individual. It is clear that the destruction of our environment leads directly to the

suffering, and eventual extinction of our race. How can the environmental changes be stopped when the destructive causes in people’s lives continue to exist? When we change ourselves at a profound level, it might not affect your immediate environment visibly, but it will affect the totality of our environment.
The mind reflects what its environment feed it just as surely as the body reflects the food you feed it. Mind food is your environment which contains all the countless things which influence you subconscious mind. Environment shapes us, makes us think the way we do. Try to name just one habit or one mannerism you have, which you did not pick from other people. Relatively minor things, like the way we walk, cough, hold a cup, our preferences for entertainment, clothing etc all stem in very large part of environment. Most important the size of your thinking, your goals your attitude, your very personality is formed by your environment. Prolonged association with negative people makes us think negatively; close contact with petty individuals develops petty habits in us. We are being conditioned to relish of our getting of low quality by such environment. These guys pull us down because they themselves cannot cross that threshold. On the brighter side, companionship with people with big ideas raises the level of our thinking; close contacts with ambitious people gives us ambition. So do check your company. Our strengths creates rivals for us where as our weaknesses lobbies us into groups which we realize later that these are at all of no use to us. Check Your Company

Understanding of this principle is perhaps best expressed in our determination to always improve ourselves, while working positively for the well being of others and the improving of our environment.

A great Human Revolution in just a single individual will help achieve a change in the destiny of a nation and further, will enable a change in the destiny of all humankind.

I conclude with the hope for an excellent environment.

Law of Conservation

dedicate this article to my friends who inspired me to write this. This article uses

the quotes of Albert Einstein in italics. The Law of Conservation for Energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but can change its form thus the total quantity of

matter and energy available in the universe is a fixed amount and never any more or less. A lay person cannot truly appreciate the scale of Einstein’s achievement not only in realizing the law but also condensing it so precisely.
E = mc2

A lay person may not be able to understand the literal meaning of these symbols and may not, even in the general sense, understand the theory of which these words and symbols are an expression, unless he or she has an understanding of physics. In effect, this would seem to mean that, as this law can only be shared between the experts, no one who is not already an expert can begin to understand it. Each of these symbols, is a crystallization of the thoughtful concept of mathematics which though abstract, nevertheless relates directly to the events and objects of the real world. The same fixation can be applied for all the basic phenomenon of universe: energy, matter, light and time. Einstein’s law can be seen as a mystic law because it explains the mutually inclusive relationship of life and all phenomena. “A human being is a part of a whole, called by us Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest… a
July 22, 2007

kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” The broader aspect of conservation can be applied to relationship, wealth, action and thoughts. This cycle makes the cause and its effect a continual process in which the

latter follows the former. It works like a chain reaction in which every effect becomes an essential parameter for next cause and with every step it becomes even more complex. Though this belief in science dominates our society yet most of us are inconsistent in our attitude towards cause and effect. They accept it only as far as they see it operating… if something happens whose cause is not obvious or can’t be discovered even after a lengthy investigation, causality is still often replaced by the idea of chance, coincidence, magic or God. For example there seems to be no apparent cause for people to suffer from accidents. If someone is struck by lightening, most people would consider that person to be either simply unlucky or singled out by God for some reason for that particular fate. The inability to discern cause and effect in all phenomena has led a number of religions and philosophers to figure out that God must exist. Many people seem to be at transitional phase, believing in cause and effect when it can be proved beyond all doubt, and disregarding it when it cannot. It is absolutely illogical, however, to assert that cause and effect can exist at one moment and not at the next. “As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain, as far as they are certain; they do not refer to reality. The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is comprehensible.”, (Sign hanging in Einstein’s office at Princeton) “Not everything that counts can be counted and not everything that can be counted counts.” Even so, there are certain aspects of life which do seem to operate outside the pattern of cause and effect. Why should two people exposed to exactly the same set of conditions and influences in life turn out completely differently? The conservation view in broader aspect explains this by taking into consideration of two things one the inherent causes and the latent effects. As in the external world people understand that cause comes first and effect comes later, sometimes the two can be very close, for example turning a light switch on can produce almost instant illumination even though the electric current may travel so fast that it appears to reach the light bulb instantly, its speed is actually finite as a result there must be fraction of a second between the cause – taping the switch – and the

effect – illumination. At the other end of time scale, cause and effect can be separated by years. Thus in planting an acorn we are making the cause for an effect to occur at some time in future; this complete effect, a mature fully grown oak, we may not even live to witness. On the longer time scale, the appearance of human life on this planet came about as a result of causes that stretch back certainly as far as the beginning of solar system, if not further into the eternal past. No matter how long or short the delay between cause and the manifestation of its effect, the existence of latter can never be denied. In this sense, then cause and effect is usually regarded as linear, in that the one thing leads to another in an unbroken line of relationship through time. “I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the kind that we experience in ourselves. Neither can I nor would I want to conceive of an individual that survives his physical death; let feeble souls, from fear or absurd egoism, cherish such thoughts. I am satisfied with the mystery of the eternity of life and with the awareness and a glimpse of the marvellous structure of the existing world, together with the devoted striving to comprehend a portion, be it ever so tiny, of the Reason that manifests itself in nature.” Inherent causes, along with external causes, make the extent of latent effects so big that they manifest in our lives. There is no other hypothesis on this earth which explains this sequence as beautifully as the Einstein’s does. The hypothesis thus proves that true enlightenment lies in acting wisely. To conclude the article following quote is appropriate. “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.”
It is the moral values. Let us shape our personalities with the Moral Values.

uring evolution of mankind the widely acclaimed spiritual philosophy became religion. Every religion passes through a life cycle and the most interesting part is that every philosophy gives something to be pondered

Buddha reminded us that our life is precious and death can’t be avoided. The law of Karma (action) regulates the world. The Four Noble Truths according to Buddha are: Life means suffering. The origin of suffering is attachment. Suffering can be eliminated. Cessation of suffering is following Eightfold Path.

The Noble Eightfold Path describes the way to the end of suffering. It is a practical guideline to ethical and mental development with the goal of freeing the individual from attachments and delusions; and it finally leads to understanding the truth about all things. Together with the Four Noble Truths it constitutes the whole gist of Buddhism. The eight aspects of the path are to be in rhythm with the universe. The steps are highly interdependent principles that have to be seen in relationship with each other.

Right View is the beginning and the end of the path, it simply means to see and to understand things as they really are and to realize the Four Noble Truth. As such,

right view is aspect of wisdom. It means to see things through, to grasp the impermanent and imperfect nature of worldly objects and ideas. Right view is not necessarily an intellectual capacity, just as wisdom is not just a matter of intelligence. It begins with the intuitive insight that all beings are subject to suffering and it ends with complete understanding of the true nature of all things. Since our view of the world forms our thoughts and our actions, right view yields right thoughts and right actions.

An Endeavour to Change for Good

Right Intention refers to the volitional aspect, i.e. the kind of mental energy that controls our actions. It can be described best as commitment to ethical and mental selfimprovement. Buddha distinguishes three types of right intentions: the intention of renunciation, which means resistance to the pull of desire, the intention of good will, meaning resistance to feelings of anger and aversion, and the intention of harmlessness, meaning not to think or act cruelly, aggressively.
When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it. Spend some time alone every day. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. Open arms to change, but don’t let go of your values. Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past. Share your knowledge. It’s a way to achieve immortality. Be gentle with the earth. Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon. Follow the three R’s: Respect for self, Respect for others and Responsibility for all your actions Instructions for Life from ‘Dalai Lama’

Good Karma
Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great relationship.

Right speech is the ethical conduct. It is viewed as a guideline to moral discipline, which supports the other principles of the path. This aspect is not self-sufficient, however, essential, because mental

purification can only be achieved through the cultivation of ethical conduct. The importance of speech in the context of Buddhist ethics is obvious: words can break or save lives, make enemies or friends, start war or create peace. Buddha explained right speech as to tell the truth, to speak friendly, warm, and gently and to talk only when necessary.Right Action is the second ethical principle, right action, involves the body as natural means of expression, as it refers to deeds that involve bodily actions.

Unwholesome actions lead to unsound states of mind. Again, right action means to abstain from harming sentient beings,

especially to abstain from taking life (including suicide) and doing harm intentionally or delinquently, to abstain from taking what is not given, which includes stealing, fraud, and dishonesty, and to abstain from sexual misconduct. Positively formulated, right action means to act kindly and compassionately, to be honest, to respect the belongings of others, and to keep sexual relationships harmless to others.

Right Livelihood means that one should earn one’s living in a righteous way and that wealth should be gained legally and peacefully. The Buddha mentions four specific activities that harm other beings and that one should avoid for this reason: dealing in weapons, dealing in living beings (including raising animals for slaughter as well as slave trade and prostitution), working in meat production and butchery, and selling intoxicants and poisons, such as alcohol and drugs. Furthermore any other occupation that would violate the principles of right speech and right action should be avoided.

Right effort can be seen as a prerequisite for the other principles of the path. Without effort, which is in itself an act of will, nothing can be achieved, whereas misguided effort distracts the mind from its task, and confusion will be the consequence. Mental energy is the force behind right effort; it can occur in either wholesome or unwholesome states. Right effort is detailed in four types of endeavours that rank in ascending order of perfection: to prevent the arising of unwholesome states, to abandon unwholesome states that have already arisen, to arouse wholesome states that have not yet arisen, and to maintain and perfect wholesome states already arisen.

Right mindfulness is the controlled and perfected faculty of cognition. It is the mental ability to see things as they are, with clear consciousness. Usually, the cognitive process begins with an impression induced by perception, or by a thought, but then it does not stay with the mere impression. Buddha accounted for this as the four foundations of mindfulness ie contemplation of the body, feeling (repulsive, attractive, or neutral), state of mind, and of the phenomena.

Right Concentration in this context is described as one-pointedness of mind, meaning a state where all mental faculties are unified and directed onto one particular object.

wholesome thoughts and actions. The Buddhist method of choice to develop right concentration is through the practice of meditation. The meditating mind focuses on a selected object. It first directs itself onto it, then sustains concentration, and finally intensifies concentration step by step.

Through this practice it becomes natural to apply elevated levels concentration also in everyday situations.

A Perfect Day

n a day which I can say perfect for me I consume half litre of water early in the morning which is kept in a copper vessel on a wooden plank on a previous night, so that all clotted enzymes can be flushed before they start on the negative

reactions. After this to take bath between the 4th and 5th hour of the day, right before sunrise with a little mustard oil massage, it gives a healthy feel till late in the evening. It is the first cause which can be made for you by entering in a layer of dynamic sensation as quoted in Ayurveda (Ancient Indian Native System of Health Care). This is followed by light exercises described by Masters of Yoga which includes some breathing techniques to recharge the body. There after some meditation can be taken on.

Human present life filled by everything is still suffering with a discontent. This is analogous to the situation when nothing is visible to us in the absence of light. When sun appears we get back our sense of direction, this is why study is considered as the foremost activity to hold spiritual temperament. The people who can study, but do not practice it are real illiterates. It will be wonderful if the reading material is some ancient scriptures or anything which talks about the big view, it will be real food for thought. Welcoming the mighty sun with wide open arms with offering of gratitude is the next step. The visible & noticeable super natural authority (Deity) with us along with Earth, Water and Air which is responsible for life force in all flora and fauna is Sun, without which we just can’t imagine this world. Along with this the undertaking of morning and evening prayers in routine is essential parameter of the cycle.

Everything that one does should be viewed as spiritual practice which is spiritual awakening and leads to the path of enlightenment. The universal law determine the events that occur in the realm of nature and that result from our modes of thinking, feeling and behaviour. When we know and cooperate with them, the power that pervades the universe is inclined to be supportive of our aspirations and right actions which is nothing but Wisdom.

Our Worst Enemy

fter his couple of resolutions to quit smoking when yet again I saw my colleague doing the same I asked him to check it by doing the root cause analysis. Though he knew that how injurious it is but he had been smoking

because something from inside attracts him to do so.

For me it is a matter of will. Most of us think that once the clay has been moulded and fired into vase nothing can happen, but I believe that we can pulverize the vase and add that powder to fresh clay and then form into the desired shape. The will power is the instrument to change. Do not perform that habit with a blank head but use your power of suggestion, the ability to accomplish is all in mind.

Do not try to change in yourself what is good, but those things you do against your will, and that makes you unhappy after you have done them, are what you want to get rid of. Bad habits are worst enemies we can have. We are punished by these habits and are left to suffer the consequences. Failure to keep your schedule of improvement means that you have paralyzed your will.

The best way to get rid of these undesirable tendencies is, not to acknowledge them. Never concede that a habit has a hold on you. “How can I be made to do what I don’t like to do?” our conscious mind has been conditioned to think that it is self hypnotized by that habit. When you refuse to acknowledge any habit, that is the end of it.

September 20, 2007

In fact habits can never be erased from us, so we must develop “Won’t Habits” as a counter attack to bad habits. Many years back when I found myself smoking frequently, irrespective of the fact that I didn’t wanted to do so, immediately with a larger strength I smilingly determined “Good Bye Smoking”.

The sufferer should seek the company of strong. People who have no control should associate with those who are self disciplined with such an example before him one will begin to reason, “I also can control”. And then one becomes what he thinks he is. We are the master of every moment of our life…

What is your desire

ometimes, life can turn on a single conversation. Something that someone else says makes us realise some deep dark truth about ourselves or life and our whole perspective changes. I get trapped most of time, my desires

are highly influenced by my surroundings. Over the next few days and weeks, make sure you don’t go backing off from deep and meaningful conversations just because the topic makes you nervous. You will be amazed at how taking a subject which feels a bit ‘taboo’ can lead you to seeing everything from a much wider perspective. On a less esoteric level, sometime love, sex and money to take up a lot of your head

Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs is often depicted as a pyramid consisting of five levels: the four lower levels are grouped together as deficiency needs associated with physiological needs, while the top level is termed growth needs associated with psychological needs. Deficiency needs must be met first. Once these are met seeking to satisfy growth needs drives personal growth. The higher needs in this hierarchy only come into focus once all the lower needs in the pyramid are satisfied. Once an individual has moved past a level, those needs will no longer be prioritized. However, if a lower set of needs is no longer being met, the individual will temporarily reprioritize those needs - dropping down to that level until the lower needs are reasonably satisfied again. Innate growth forces constantly create upward movement. In some Buddhist text it has been written that Earthly desires are enlightenment. It does not at all mean that earthly desires are in themselves enlightenment. But without
September 26, 2007

eradicating earthly desires one can’t attain enlightenment. This principle has been illustrated in Buddhism that with the metaphor of the lotus flower. The lotus flower blooms in a muddy swamp. Without must there is no lotus. The muddy water is necessary to sustain the life of the lotus but the lotus is not the muddy water itself.

Because there are earthly desires enlightenment can be attained. Earthly desires indicate illusion. Enlightenment indicates an awakening of the truth. As we raise our fundamental life condition, what functioned as earthly desires begins to function as

enlightenment and what produces sufferings begin to produce joy. As we tap our potential through practice our desires naturally

Morality,  Spontaneity,  Creativity, Problem  Solving, Lack of  Prejudice,  Acceptance of  facts Self esteem,  Confidence,  Achievement,  Respect for others,  Respect by others,  friendship, family,  intimacy Breathing, Food,  Water, Sex, Sleep,  Homeostatis,  Excretion Security of Body,  of employment of  resources, of  morality, of family,  of health, of  property

Hinduism recognizes the importance of material wealth for the overall happiness and well being of an individual. In Hindi ‘Artha’ means wealth which is an essential parameter for one to be ‘Purushottam‘ a perfect human being. A house holder requires wealth, because he has to perform many duties to uphold Dharma and take care of the needs of his family and society. A person should not seek wealth for wealth sake but to uphold Dharma and help the members of his family and society achieve their goals. Hinduism therefore rightly places material wealth as the second most important objective in human life. While Dharma and Moksha are meant for oneself, wealth and sex are to be pursued for the sake of others.

Hinduism advocates austerity, simplicity and detachment, but does not glorify poverty. Wealth is not an impediment to selfrealization, but attachment to wealth is. Desire for wealth is different from greed for wealth. Selfless desire for wealth is preferable to selfish desire for wealth. Money and wealth are a form of divine energy. Seeking wealth through human actions is not discouraged in Hinduism. The vedic hymns are mostly invocations addressed to gods and goddesses by men desiring wealth and prosperity. However they also emphasize the need for right intention, right means and moderation in the pursuit of wealth. Aiming for wealth is a virtue, but greed is not. Amassing wealth for the family and for the welfare of oneself is not sinful, but taking what does not belong to one is. Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism benefited greatly in the past by the individual contribution of rich merchants, their wives and children.
My Biggest Fantasy

When I was asked by my friend that  what my biggest dream is, the very  first  thought  which  came  to  my  mind was to know about life i.e. the  mysteries  of  our  existence  in  this  universe. But then I thought maybe  if I knew everything I may turn mad.  Human being is not created as such  to know these secrets moreover I do  not  want  to  lose  the  charm  of  this  life.

But my conviction tells me that it is  an insult to our Self to be born, live,  and  die  without  knowing  the  answer  to  the  mystery  of  why  we  were sent here as a human being in  the  first  place.  To  forget  the  supreme phenomenon is to miss the  whole  point  of  existence.  Learn  to  feel  the  process,  and  to  enjoy  it.  Acquiring  material  possessions  prosperity and fame is no safeguard  against  sorrow:  There  will  come  a  day  when  we  will  feel  totally  helpless, a mere pawn of destiny.

Poverty has become a strange reality in present day Hindu society and erroneously considered by many as a virtue. This is a strange influence. Hindus have become so poverty conscious that if a saint or a sage leads a comfortable life, all scoff at him, saying that he is not a true yogi. They have to remind themselves of the simple fact that

So,  before  life  evaporates  in  material desires, it’s wise to slip into  the consciousness of Supreme. Birth  is  separation  from  the  Infinite;  death  is  not  an  end  of  life  but  a  transition  to  a  higher  state.  Freedom from birth and death is a  return  to  Supreme.  The  dewdrop  always belongs to the sea…

none of the Hindu Gods are really poor. Lord Vishnu and Krishna are good examples . While they always help the poor and the needy, none of them glorify poverty as a virtue. According to Hinduism all experiences are self created and provide an opportunity to learn. So is poverty and so is wealth. Renunciation does not mean to leave aside wealth or denounce the wealthy. It means detachment from wealth. Hinduism advocates moderation and balance in the pursuit of material and spiritual goals. Some Hindus think otherwise, ignoring the fact that what is applicable to an ascetic does not apply to a householder.

Swami Vivekananda rightly said that religion was not for the empty stomachs. When a person is beset with survival problems, he would hardly find any solace in religion. Soothing words would not comfort a hungry soul as much as a morsel of food.

Law of Attraction
Sir Issac Newton first time realized and initiated the concept of gravity with the fall of an apple. But this law existed from eternity as it is inherent in creation. Celestial bodies exert their gravitational attraction on another; Gravity’s effect may be seen when two bodies are free to move and they are drawn toward each other. According to physical science Gravitational Force is the attraction which exists between masses of matter by virtue of which every such mass tends toward every other mass with a force varying directly as the product of the masses of matter and inversely as the square of their distances apart. It means that the distance between two masses is one meter, the attraction will be relatively stronger and if the distance is increased to two meters the attraction will be one fourth as powerful. The law of gravity is universal, the same in the earth as in the sun and in all objects in space. The sun attracts the earth and other solar planets and keep them whirling around it. Similarly the earth attracts the moon. The attraction of earth to the bodies on its surface is same as to the moon; the only difference is that the gravitational effect of the earth on the moon is reduced by the square of the distance from the moon to earth’s core.

The mass of the two objects and the distance between them determines the force of gravity. Gravity is not a one sided pull, but the pull between two objects. Visualize that there are two bodies, you pull and it comes toward you, but if that body is being pulled away from you with an equal force then there will be a balance. The moon by centrifugal force is pulling away from the earth but the gravitational attraction of the
September 29, 2007

earth towards the moon keeps a balance. It is obvious that same force of gravity has given balance to the universe otherwise everything would have flown apart or on contrary would have been gathered round one mass of matter.

The law of attraction states: Every object in the universe attracts every other object with a force directed along the line of the centres for the two objects that is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the separation between the two objects.

This is something how we relate ourselves to this universe, if we follow this theory it becomes a stunning spiritual analogy. In extremely similar fashion human beings are subject to the pull of good and evil (Irrespective to the context the notion of term ‘pull’ is significant here). Many people take to various evil diversions; some are intoxicated to the God. When we understand the law of attraction, we can understand the best way to tune in with the pull of God, and therefore the best way to find him. When we throw a stone, it travels with its force until that force dissipates and gravity causes it to fall back to earth. In the same way, we were propelled from God, and our desires are the force that keeps us moving away from him. God’s gravity may seem to have failed us but when our desires will be exhausted then we will be drawn towards god again by the power of his gravity. Setting aside the old superstitious beliefs, we will get an easy reply to why we should seek God. Creation came into being by the power of repulsion by which God sent forth from himself. By his outgoing force. God is repulsing us and the world of matter away from himself, and yet at the same time he has instilled in his creation the force of his pull to draw us back into himself. If god didn’t pull us we would be completely thrown away into matter for unending incarnations. The ‘Big Bang’ theory of modern physics provides an interesting correlation to this Ancient Hindu belief. ‘OK Fine… if it is so’, the other question which approaches to my head is, ‘But why?‘ Then involuntarily answer permeates in form of a question that ‘Why I am writing this article?’ This is my hobby’. Similarly this whole universe is God’s Hobby.

mechanism in all creation. When it works one way, it can carry us forward to outstanding success. But the same mind operating in a different manner can produce a total collapse. We are guided by our ‘thoughtrons’*. But question arises how our thoughtrons are regulated. There are several theories on it. But the most practical one which a modern man can figure out can be taken.

his article is written after consideration on certain real cases in my close relations. It is quite amazing to see that our mind is remarkable mechanism regulating our process of thoughts. It is the most delicate, most sensitive

As the saying goes, “You are product of your environment”. Our surroundings make us think the way we do. Mind is what the mind is fed. The food of our mind is the environment in which we live. The kind of mind food we consume determines our habits, attitudes and personality in all. Each of us has inherited some capacity to develop. But how much of that capacity we have developed and the way we have developed that capacity depends on the kind of mind foodstuff we have been fed. You would be a totally different person had you grown up in a different country. Why? Because you would have been influenced by a different environment.

Most important our growth level, the size of our thinking, our status and life condition is formed by our atmosphere. Prolonged association with negative people makes us think negatively and their insignificant habits are developed in us. On the other hand contact with ambitious people gives us aspiration.
October 04, 2007

Most of the intelligent men who have dead ended themselves in safe but mediocre positions spend hours in telling that they are satisfied with their work. They do a good job of rationalising. They might really want to work in a challenging situation where they could really grow, but that multitude of suppressive influences had convinced them they are inadequate for bigger things. These people have partially surrendered to their environment.

At a surprisingly young age we set high goals for ourselves to conquer the unknown, but long before we reached the age the suppressive influences, ‘you cannot get ahead so better do not bother to try’ went to work. People who tell you it can’t be done, almost always are mediocre or unsuccessful people. Opinions of such people can be poison.
Biggest Obstacle There are people who find a hard time keeping friendships, jobs, marriages, and relationships. Life is an obstacle course and we become our biggest obstacle by having a negative attitude. Negative attitudes lead to bitterness, resentment, a purposeless life, ill health; It brings in high stress levels not only for themselves but also for others. Negative attitudes create an unpleasant environment at home, at work and become a liability to society. They pass on their negative behavior to others around them and to the future generations. Now the question arises when we become aware of our negative attitude, why do not we change? Human nature generally resists change. Change is uncomfortable. Regardless of its positive or negative effect, change can often be stressful. Sometimes we get so comfortable with our negativity that even when the change is for the better, we don’t want to accept it. We stay with the negative. If your attitude is negative, your life is restricted. You will have fewer friends. Your enjoyment life will be less. Working to build a positive attitude will be worth enduring the temporary stress and uncertainty of change.

Suppose you tell some average people you plan to own a big goal, and they may laugh at you because they know it’s impossible. But tell this dream to a person who has already done it. He knows it isn’t impossible. I believe we should always accept negative advice only as a challenge to prove that you can do it. We can simply make our environment work for us, not against us. We should throw this thought poison out of our environment, while talking about people we should stay on their positive side and try to think right towards them. In real sense we can never grow if we leave everyone behind.

Some may argue that others have been born with special talent they lack but desire to have. This is true, but they have to cultivate the habit of that ability some time, if not in this life, then in some other. We observe this information in the process of evolution. For each result to take place there is some proposal. God never created garbage so let’s have some great proposals. *Thoughtrons, The fundamental unit of our thoughts. One who practices any of this yoga is known as Yogi. All great men in some sense have experienced the joy of meditation in their own way. Man lives in a very small dream world; he can’t conceive of the vast dream of God. Man’s little consciousness cannot picture the measureless power of the cosmic consciousness . in the day time a man looking at the sun sees only a portion of the sky. All objects are invisible to him except those few that lie with in the small range of his vision. By the aid of a telescope man can view the stars, the bands around Saturn, moons of Jupiter and other objects invisible to the naked eye. With the aid of microscope man can also see the millions of crawling microscopic germs in a drop of water. In the dreamland man can transform his mind into a microscope to see germs or can create a mental telescope to see into farthest astral world.

The Yogi with his closed eyes dismisses the thoughts of and sensations through practice of meditation. When he is able to do that, he finds within himself the knowing, knower and known all converted into the one perception of ecstasy. Experiencing soul bliss the devotee feels his consciousness circling into space.

Then he feels the cosmic vibration manifesting as the audible cosmic sound and the visible cosmic light. At this time the Yogi‘s intuitive spherical awareness begins to spread with the ever expanding cosmic sound, cosmic light, and the cosmic consciousness. Then the yogi learns to expand his being into spirit and its cosmic consciousness. It is then that he finds his soul no longer confined in the little dream of sleep or world.
Scale of Good This is a surprising fact to learn that it is altogether different if we move towards the negative side of a scale for a particular parameter. The two extremes of the scale seem to be two different entities but in fact they are one. It is we who have to decode and tune in somewhere between the scale. For example in case of heat energy which can be measured with its degree of hotness we can have different bands of heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can touch 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, just the absence of it. Same is the case with darkness it is the absence of Light. You can have different bands of lights like low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light. But if you have no light constantly, you will strike to nothing and its called darkness isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t anything. If it were you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you? In the similar fashion evil is nothing but absence of Good.

More or less some of us every so often are totally in vain to meditate, this is directly associated with our eating habits. Rightly or wrongly it is a part of my conviction that man may not eat nonvegetarian food. I consider that there should be a limit even to the means of keeping ourselves alive. In some of my next write-ups I’ll be taking up the effects of eating habits qualities. Meditation is a tricky job most of us never like to take the complex and hard path. Let’s deliberately meditate to turn out to be the man of virtue in real sense.

A Perfect Relation

was inspired to post this write up when I received a beautiful presentation on

relationships from one of my friends. A perfect relation in real sense is just like a dream. But we can always give our best to reach there. Any kind of relationship

fails because one party demands too much or tries to overpower another. People in love tend to think that love will conquer all, and their spouses will change the bad habits after the marriage.

Actually this is not the case. It has lot to do with the saying that, “It is not possible to reshape a person’s character”. Since it is not at all easy to change we are unable to leave over habits. Thus having high expectations on changing spouse habits will cause disappointment and offensiveness. It would be less painful to change ourselves and lower our expectations. No overpowering should be there. There is a sweet couple whom I know; they are enjoying a very lovely married life. No one has seen them in dispute ever. When they were asked the secret shared by them was not criticizing the spouse even when it does something wrong. Always keep in mind that because of the shortcomings of each other, another one could not find a better spouse then him or her.

Generally when a person makes a mistake he would look around to find a scapegoat to point the finger, this is the start of war. if we try forgiving others they will also start ignoring our mistakes, on the same time we all appreciate and look forward for being cared, respected and loved.

Someone told me that a person visited some matchmaker for marriage and requested for a spouse. He wanted himself to be helped to find the suitable one. When he was asked to jot down for his requirements along with his qualities, His requirement side was quite demanding “Beautiful, Smart, Humorous, Knowledgeable, Good in extracurricular activities” whereas on the other side he was stuck and least concerned here doing this.

A perfect match can be only between a blind wife and deaf husband because the blind wife can’t see the faults of deaf husband and the deaf husband can’t hear the nagging of his wife. Many couples are deaf and blind at the courting stage and dream of everlasting perfect relation. Unfortunately when the
Our breaths and the moments of our life we are passing are for sure, once. It is just like the flux of the unstoppable river which is in hurry to reach the ocean. Try to help others in their journeys, if you are in a position to bring out the good of another, why to stop, more good will only help in improving your own environment, take benefit of your own actions and not at the sake of others misery. Nature and Strength

ature and strength are two parameters which mesmerizes me so often. These two elements regulate the world. But the mystifying part is that what is the strength of nature and moreover what is the nature of strength.

The ancient philosophies spoke loosely of nature as matter. The modern science thinks of matter as coordinated forces. They describe all mineral, plant and animal substances are made up of elements listed in Periodic Table*. These are further explained as nothing more than permutations and combinations of different subatomic particles (or electronic configuration) otherwise wave energies. Finite beings, living by finite causes, think that the infinite can’t exist without a cause. Because a person asks, “Who made me and all?” he also wonders, “Who mad this nature?”

Close your eyes and picture the earth as a small ball in the sky. Then by visualization make the earth as big as the whole sky. Then make the expanded mental image of the earth as big as eternity far, far beyond the most distant planets; you will still see space and ever eternity ever extending beyond that mentally enlarged spherical finite image of earth. It will become evident to you that the biggest finite sphere that can be imagined is not as bid as an eternity that has no end. All finite things have limits; but eternity the home of God has no boundary. The God dreams cosmic nature. A dream has a threefold aspect: the dreamer, his perception and the dream objects made up of dream elements of earth, fire, water, air and ether.

The cosmic dream universe is run by the intelligent cosmic spirit – pure nature. The

whole physical universe is a true to sight, true to hearing, true to smell, true to taste and true to touch, coloured, motion picture, created and sustained by physical, mental and intelligent beam of Cosmic Dream entity. The latter is a reflection of supreme intelligence in creation which in turn is a reflection of Father beyond creation. After understanding the dream nature of universe, one should learn the dream nature of the human body. The body exists in a sphere of dream ether. We are able to see the little body as it is operated by the soul, by the discriminative intelligence and by the physical ego.

In a stanza from Shrimad Bhagvat Gita* Lord talks to Arjuna, “All finite beings live in God, but the infinite God lives in nothing else beyond him. All dreams exist in the consciousness of the dreamer, but his consciousness exists beyond all his dreams.” All finite objects produce the illusion of something beyond them. Therefore mortals ask,” What is beyond infinite?”. The answer is nothing. One who is able to connect to the vastness of universe and perceives the body and its vibrating elements as a miniature dream of God’s consciousness, even as he perceives all matter, all lights, the subtlest cosmic energy in beings, and the high consciousness to be dream manifestations of mind.
Life has no meaning the moment you lose the illusion of being eternal. In reality what so ever we witness is merely an illusion, although seems to be very persistent one. A wise man, recognizing that the world is nothing but an illusion, He does not act as if it is real, so he escapes the suffering. -Gautam Buddha Illiusion

*Periodic table is a list of all known elements (atoms) ordered along horizontal rows according to atomic number (the number of electrons in an atom and also the charge on its nucleus). *Shrimad Bhagvat Gita is the ancient Indian epic which is containing discourse of Lord Krishna with warrior Arjuna.

Inevitable Ruthless Devils

We are constantly in a State of War with these evils and obstacles. These are responsible for ones unhurried assassination. These devils and obstacles are not from outside world but appear with in an individual. In each and every living being these devils and obstacles arises without fail. These devils and obstacles are nothing but symbolic notations to whatever is experienced by us in our day to day life. Daishonin teaches that devils are certain to appear in the course of our life. One should be never scared or influenced to them. If one falls under their influence one will be led into the paths of evil. One must positively summon forth faith and resolutely fight against these three obstacles and four devils.

ave you ever thought about obstacles in one’s life. Nicherin Diashonin’s Buddhism talks about three obstacles and four devils which are listed in Nirvana Sutra. These obstacles and devils hinder ones human revolution.

The first obstacle is of arising from three poisons of Greed Anger and Stupidity collectively known as GAS. The second obstacle is of karma created by committing any kind of the sins or evil acts. The third is of opposition by the respected ones or parents when you are alone helpless and can’t act according to your conviction. The second obstacle reminded me a thought, some one has quoted that when we are born in the capacity of human being we can avoid our committing of sins. And if we have executed any of them then it is itself a guarantee of our never reaching heaven. It also sounded quite interesting and logical.

hindrance of untimely death of the required one (guardian or teacher) or ones own premature death In the presence of all these demons how can one reach Nirvana which can be seen as an indestructible happiness?

This is a question for today and tomorrow we will study the possible answers to it.

Earthly Desires Vs Enlightenment

uddhism teaches of four sufferings from which no one can escape - birth, old age, sickness, and death - there are many other hardships and worries, in addition to these, with which we are constantly beset in our daily lives. The

question is: “How do these endless troubles come about, and where do they come from?” If we can penetrate the origin of suffering, and transform its root function, then we should be able to eliminate unhappiness and suffering from our lives. The fundamental cause of people’s unhappiness lies in their tendency to develop attachments of various kinds. Attachments are shackles on one’s heart—earthly desires, craving and so on.

This is the principle of “earthly desires are enlightenment.” It’s not a matter of eradicating attachments but of seeing them clearly. Rather than causing us to abandon our earthly desires and attachments, our Buddhist practice enables us to discern their true nature and utilize them as the driving force to become happy. The truth is that we could not in fact eradicate our attachments even if we so wished.

One side tells us to suppress desires because they are nothing but trouble—the suppression or even refutation of desire should be celebrated as a sign of virtue. Meanwhile, the other tells us that human desire is natural (and good!); that we should trust our feelings and desires, and do whatever they move us to do, so long as we do not infringe on the rights of others. Experience, however, tells us that neither the suppression of nor abandonment to desires leads to satisfaction in life. Then how do we live with the reality of our abundant desires and still become happy and fulfilled?
October 14, 2007

The Daishonin’s Buddhism, however, explains that both “earthly desires” and “enlightenment” are inherent to our lives. So any intent to deny either is itself a delusion. It sheds light on this issue through the concept called “earthly desires are enlightenment.” this Buddhist concept tells us that our desires and suffering—all that torments our mind— can be the source of wisdom and happiness. On the surface, however, this concept is contradictory. Our desires often cause delusion and suffering, which are the exact opposite of wisdom and happiness. In this sense,

Power Can you give someone much more attention than you normally would? Can you really - really highlight their positives and simply ignore their negatives? Appreciate their being. enlightenment, rather than as enlightenment, seems more reasonable. So the logical extension of this line of thought will be that we have to eliminate our desires in order to attain enlightenment.

In this way without eradicating earthly desire or ridding oneself from desires arising from the five senses, one will purify the various senses and eradicate various offenses.

ave you seen some one complaining of his environment? ‘My spouse behaves irrationally and does not realize my emotions’, ‘Even though I deserve a salary hike but I don’t understand, what my boss expects out of

People live in different environments. Although one’s environment may appear to look like same, there are always slight changes that take place from day to day. It is also true that one person may look something and feel differently from another person. There are people who may look an apple falling from a tree and be reminded of Newton’s law of gravity. There are others who may think of it as being delicious. There could also be merchants who may think of how it could be sold for. The way we see and identify the situation in an environment differs depending on our life condition and circumstances. As ten people have ten different views, every person has his or her own unique way of perceiving things. People create their own lives spurred on by their environment. In this sense, people cannot exist without it.

Man and his environment are inseparable, but Esho Funi a Buddhist concept goes further than denoting just the inseparable relationship between the two. This is a topic

which makes us think that how people can influence and reform their environment through inner change. Contained within the idea that just the environment influences the individual, the individual also can effect change in the environment. An environment is a reflection of the inner life of the individual living within it. It takes on characteristics which accord with the life condition of the person in question. In other words life extends its influence into the surroundings.

An Endeavour to Change for Good

When we change our own state of life our environment will naturally start changing as well. A grand palace of happiness exists within our heart, Faith is the means which opens the door to that palace.
Unmask Yourself According to a quote, “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” Have you ever been into a situation where you’re struggling with your truth for fear of what others may think? If so, remember that the only people that won’t accept you are those that you don’t need at all around you anyway. Don’t live a false life simply to please others. Speak your truth and you’ll find likeminded, supportive people who will respect and appreciate you as you are. Speaking our truth allows us to live fully, without inner conflict. Life is too short for living a lie. You are unique and amazing individual, so celebrate that fact. Speak your truth and you’ll feel better for being genuine.

The key is that you can’t change any one according to you, but the moment you resolve to change yourself the universe start conspiring to make the desired happen for you. We realise it or not, our life condition, our happiness is in our hands and we are responsible for everything which happens to us.

To conclude there is beautiful quote from Cyndi Craven, “There’s a wonder in the way we’re always free to change the world by changing how we see it”.

How to get better results

ooking for better results, it’s a gradual process to be comprehended and practiced. Our life is a matter of laws of nature. Change is nature’s law. We are either moving forward or we are going backward. We are always in either

generating or degenerating state. We take our life in an awfully casual way, rising of sun every morning or safely reaching home in the evening is very insignificant for each one of us. Imagine one damn day, the sun discontinues being at work or while driving home you smash.

My point is to drag your attention to one of the rudimentary law of nature. The law of action and reaction. In this evolving world we are merely reacting in our states. There is a very small scope for really acting. Most of us see, listen and exist but unable to observe, understand and live it. A seed, if it is not planted in the earth to create, disintegrates. Change is inevitable. It is going to happen whether you like it or not. All progress is change but all change is not progress. We must evaluate change and accept it only if it makes sense. Acceptance without evaluation amounts to conforming behavior, a sign of lack of confidence and low self esteem. In Hindu and Buddhist philosophies the theory of karma harps on the Newtonian principle that every action produces an equal and opposite reaction. As we go about our daily lives, in every single moment, we make causes in the things that we think and say and do, which in time will bear its corresponding effects. And this cyclical cause and effect generates the concepts of birth and reincarnation. The ancient scriptures explains that when we make a cause, the anticipated effect of that cause is stored deep in our lives, and when the right circumstances appear then we
October 18, 2007

experience the effect. In order to succeed, we need to understand the law of cause and effect and the relationship between actions and results. For every effect, there is a cause. The law of cause and effect is the same as the law of sowing and reaping. The laws of sowing and reaping are simple, you must have the desire to sow. Desire is the starting point. What you sow, so shall you reap. If you sow potatoes, you are only going to reap potatoes, not tomatoes. You must sow before you reap. Sowing takes place before reaping; you must give before you get. The Paradox of our times The paradox of our times is that We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers Wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints We spend more, but we have less We have bigger houses, but smaller families More conveniences, but less time We have more degrees, but less sense More knowledge, but less judgment More experts, but more problems More medicines, but less wellness We talk too much and hate too often, love too seldom, We have learnt how to make a living, but not a life We have added years to life, but not life to years We have conquered outer space, but not inner space We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted our soul We’ve split the atom, but not our prejudice We’ve higher incomes, but lower morals We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values We’ve been all the way to the moon and back But have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbour We’ve become long on quantity but short on quality These are the times of tall men, and short character Steep profits, and shallow relationships These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare More leisure, but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition These are the days of two incomes, but more divorces Of fancier houses, but broken homes It is a time when there is much in the show window And nothing in the stockroom - His Holiness The Dalai Lama 14th

constantly looking to get before they give. It does not work this way. When you sow a seed, you reap manifold. If you sow a positive seed, your harvest will be manifold in the positive and, if you sow a negative seed your harvest will be manifold in the negative. It is not uncommon to see people going against nature’s law.

A farmer knows that you cannot sow and reap in the same day. There is always a period of development. Most of the time people are trying to change the effect while the cause remains. Either you constantly feed your mind with positives or negativity automatically fills the vacuum. Many ancient sages have said, a man’s mind is like a garden. If we plant good seeds, we will have a good garden. But if we don’t plant anything, something will grow and that will be weeds. That is the law of nature. The same holds true in our lives.

In fact, this is the way the law of nature works. Our thoughts are causes. You sow a thought, you reap an action. You sow an action, you reap a habit. You sow a habit, you reap a character. You sow a character, you reap a destiny. It all starts with a single thought.

In the concluding minute I just remember the following quote from –Albert Einstein, “Every time I closely watch the laws of Physics I go even closer to Metaphysics.”

Born to Sin

hristopher Marlow in ‘Doctor-Faustus’ uses the following Biblical statement as a situation. This text is used by Satan to tempt & despair The Knight in ‘The dialogue between Christian Knight and Satan’. Si pecasse negamus, fallimur, et nulla est in nobis veritas.

It means that if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us. We must then, as a consequence, sin, and so consequently die. By twisting the scripture, Faustus argues that as man must inevitably sin, so they must be damned. He does not say what follows about God’s mercy towards sinners; if we confess our sins the lord is faithful and forgives us.

Today, we discuss the rudiments of sin. If we ponder, we will find that sins occur from inherent tendencies of our desires. Furthermore these desires lead us to Stupidity, Anger and Greed. Most of the time we take our life as a very random phenomenon but we should always remember that even a small leaflet swayed by the wind does so for a reason.

Stupidity refers to the foolishness of not being able to understand or, lack of reason, and selfish attachment to the immediate profits. Greed means to become a slave of hunger, sexual lust, the desire for fame and other such earthly things. Anger specifies the rage within one’s life or, the state of being controlled by impulsive emotions. If we look carefully at ourselves we are certain to find ourselves in the midst of suffering.
October 26, 2007

This is because desires are the basis of all suffering and unhappiness in life.

There are many practices which teach that one must confront and rid oneself of all desires and in this way, be happy. They regarded the human body as the source of all desires and formulated a variety of methods to eradicate these material desires. Undeniably, desires give rise to suffering, but it is simplistic to therefore dismiss it as a purely evil or sin.

An Endeavour to Change for Good

As long as one is alive, one is bound to have desires; they are necessary to sustain life. Without desire one dies. To go a step further, we can say that desires are the driving force of the civilisation. Stupidity is something we are born with. We learn from our experiences. The system works like this only - we are left in a particular set of conditions in the evolving world. We struggle, and deal with the circumstances in the best possible way and, in the process we learn how to grow as an individual. Greed, the hunger for knowledge, opens up a field for knowledge, opens up fields for research and endeavour. Literal hunger, the need for food, has contributed to giant leaps in the fields of agricultural and industrial development. Anger, when directed against evil has motivated the framing of laws and securing the public order. “Arrogance” has the positive aspect of pride in one’s work and acts as doubt of healthy scepticism. So, in total, our desire acts as a fuel for our survival and culmination in the process of evolution. Let’s have big desires for us. If one cannot have grand desires, he should at least have noble desires.
Choices have consequences. We are free to make our choice but, after we have chosen, the choice controls us. We have equal opportunity to be unequal. The choice is ours. Life can be compared to a pottery maker who shapes clay in any form he wants. Similarly we can mould our lives into any shape we want. What is your choice? We go by choice Today’s RHR says ‘Check your Choices’, Our life is full of choices. It solely depends on us what choices we opt for. It is highly foolish of us if we feel that for any of our some individual or circumstance is responsible but that is just a medium for our choice. When we keep on munching, we make a choice to be overweight. When we drink too much, we make a choice to have a hangover headache the next day. If we drink and drive, we choose to risk being killed or killing someone or getting paralyzed in an accident. When we ill-treat people, we choose to be ill-treated in return. When we don’t care about other people, we choose not to be cared for by other people.

Heading to What

his post seems to be for students who are in a process to shape up their careers, but this for everyone. We are heading to what? Have you ever conceived this thought? There are many categories of your desires, it may be

for success; to do one’s duty even at the cost of pleasure; for purpose-something worth dying for which gives meaning to life. A purposeless life is a living death. What is your purpose? Do you have one? Purpose brings passion. Find or create a purpose and then pursue it with passion and perseverance. Every day we need to ask ourselves: “Am I getting any closer to my purpose in life? Am I making this a better place to live?” If the answer is no, then we have just wasted a day of our life. Life will reward us in proportion to our contribution. The earlier we find a purpose in life, the better our life will be. What good is it if you gain the whole world and lose your conscience?

The greatest challenge lies in the unending search for the purpose of life, not only as an individual but also for our family, organizations and country. Once our purpose and values are clear, conflicts between self-interest and social obligations find a moral balance amongst themselves. We become aware of when to take a stand. That is when we start making the right decisions for long-term gain rather than making the wrong decisions for short-term gain.

Wisdom and maturity lead to greater understanding of major Issues. We all have low moments; we all fall down and get hurt. We all have moments when we doubt ourselves and indulge in self-pity. The point is to overcome these feelings and restore

No doubt, at times we will fail and slandered but this reason is not enough to hold us back. Lets become man of virtue, man of strength by deciding destiny for ourselves. being. The incident made my some beliefs even stronger as well. Hell or heaven are two extreme states and without a single doubt these are very thrilling. At times this life seems to be hell and every so often a real heaven. I delve in these realms all the time and try to enjoy both ways. It is wondrous to think deeply of this. It would indeed be terrible if an Almighty Being had thrown us into this delusive earthly existence without an escape or the ability to realize, what he realizes.

In this world there is a constant repetition of history, of love, affection, warfare and trouble. If we are objective, we begin to behold events as a sort of continuous motion picture wherein the same basic story is played over and over again, only in different times and places with different characters. You wouldn’t sit through the same movie repeatedly; it would soon lose its interest. So we can grant to the evolution that it has provided for changes in history and contrasts in good and evil to give variety to the entertainment in this cosmic movie house.

We can say that God should never have created this world in which there is so much trouble. But on the other hand, if we knew we were gods, you wouldn’t mind it. As such, we could behold this world drama as a movie, even as the Supreme does, if we but look to that soul perfection within and realize our unity with the Divine. Then this movie, with its horrors of disease and poverty and atomic bombs, will appear to us only as real as the anomalies we experience in a movie house. You do not have to accept karma If I tell you that somebody is standing behind you ready to hurt you because you once hit him, and you meekly say, “Well, it is my karma,” and wait for him to strike you, of course you will get a blow! Why don’t you try to mollify him? By pacifying him you may lessen his bitterness and remove his desire to strike you. In this scenario I would like to deny my bad Karma. When you realize yourself as a child of God, what karma you have? God has no karma. And you have none, when you know you are His child. Every day you should affirm, “I am not a mortal being; I am not the body. I am a child of God.” That is practicing the presence of God. God is free from karma. You are made in His image. If we could watch this world as the supreme watches it, and as the realized one do, we would be free from the seeming reality of this dreaming. In that consciousness it can be easily understood that this world was created for entertainment; and that it is not necessary either to supreme or to us.

What is your Net Worth

re you really worth? In this world of high competition you are valued by your net worth. The net worth of accountable person can be calculated in general terms by looking for the following parameters, what is your annual income

Do you file your income tax returns without fail? How many people depend on you? How many are there who will come forward to take your bank guarantee? How much secure your job is? Are the needs of your children and wife being fulfilled with ease? Do you have all the amenities to live comfortably?

All the questions are realistic and harsh. All these questions are prerequisite according to the need hierarchy. If you qualify some of them then there comes another set of questions which you need to ask yourself. How many people miss you? How many wait for you? How many smiles you spread? How many buddies you have? How many are there who can’t afford to listen anything negative for you, they go crazy and fight for you? How many support you, even whom you don’t know? Biggest Reality Game Show

part of one of the Biggest Reality Game Shows. This show might not be telecast on any of the satellite television channels, yet it is so real that it is appears on the cosmic screen of the Almighty.

ave you ever thought of participating in a reality show? Wouldn’t it be exciting? Your actions will be watched and there is a chance for you to come out of the game a winner. Now hold your breath, you are already a

In one of my posts, I wrote that life is like a movie. The question it brings up is that if we have to act in this life, then from where we receive the directions. The answer lies in the fact that our lives work like a reality television game show, where every one is free to use his own will but with in a confined region, which is why we have to direct the drama of our lives ourselves. This free will is one of the greatest gifts of God to man. The direction we choose is based on our environment and experiences. There is so much more to life than what we think. Since everything earthly seems so real, how much more real must be that reality which creates this unreal reality! But the unreal reality makes one completely forget the real reality. It will serve us well to always remember that we wouldn’t mind this earth as much as we do, if we would accept it to be a Technicolor Motion Picture.

In the real game show of our lives, we have to showcase our best; we are awarded for the way we smilingly tackle tricky situations. We are not liked by Big Brother for our negative acts. Therefore the purpose of our existence is that we strive to become good, to become perfect, and to use our free will to choose good instead of evil. God

has given us all the power we need to do that. The mind is like an elastic band. The more you pull, the more it stretches. The mind-elastic will never break. Every time you feel limitations in life, close your eyes and say to yourself, “I am the Infinite, Big Boss is watching me,” and you will realise the extent of your inherent power.

Life is a search for satisfaction and satisfaction will never come from anything less than God. No joy of the senses, no joy of possession can match the joy of God; material gifts and the temptations of money, wine, and sex, are no match for a million

times more intoxicating joy of consciousness. “Though He had everything from eternity to eternity, even he also needs to be joyful, but there is no one else to share.” And he began to create souls in his image, and clothe them as human beings with free choice. He gave man freedom to accept his love and live in his joy, or to cast it aside and live in delusion, in ignorance of him.
The Last Request Have you ever watched kids, on a merrygo-round? Or listened to the rain, slapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight? Or gazed at the sun into the fading night? You better slow down, don’t dance so fast. Time is short, the music won’t last. Do you run through each day, on the fly? When you ask, how are you? Do you hear the reply? When the day is done, do you lie in your bed With the next hundred chores, running through your head? You’d better slow down, don’t dance so fast. Time is short, the music won’t last. Ever told your child, we’ll do it tomorrow? And in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die Cause you never had time to call and say, “Hi” You’d better slow down, don’t dance so fast. Time is short, the music won’t last. When you run so fast to get somewhere, You miss half the fun of getting there. When you worry and hurry through your day, It is like an unopened gift….Thrown away. Life is not a race, do take it slower Hear the music, before the song is over. You better slow down, don’t dance so fast. Time is short, the music won’t last. –A dying young girl. A master piece forwarded by Dr.Shields written by his patient

The most satisfying point here is that God is very just and fair. On the scale of time, God monitors everyone with the golden rule of cause and effect. When human made systems can keep a track of the entire online data with tools like search engines, and the crawling lives on earth can be watched with the help of satellites, it sure is far easier for the Lord to monitor us because he is all powerful, and has been here for all eternity. Every life in this cosmic database is scanned with the help of his fool proof search engine.

When you accept this world to be a play written by God himself, then you aren’t upset by the contrasts of good and evil. When you are anchored by this heavenly realization, you will make fun of your habits, and you will be intensely amused at your distinguishing

characteristics, as from the terrace of introspection you watch yourself perform in the motion picture of life.

So watch this universe like a picture-play, as do the masters who are awake in God. Everyone should get out of this nightmare, and watch this cosmic motion picture as an entertainment. He wants you to know that you are one with him. That is why from time to time He sends God realized souls to help mankind. When people get too

tired with nightmares, these souls come to wake us up, to shake us and say, “What is the matter with you? You are dreaming.” And you cry that you are suffering with disease or drowned in poverty. But when, through the blessings of the great ones, you open your eyes, you see it is a dream. Practice and learn to separate the unreal from the real

So remember, God is dreaming this world. And if we are in tune with him, we will live a divinely intoxicated life and nothing will disturb us. We will watch this cosmic picture as we watch the films in a movie house, without being hurt. God created us so that we may dream as he does. Enjoying this dream and all its contrasting experiences as an entertainment without being affected by it or absorbed in his eternal joy. It is our responsibility to handle this show with grace and dignity.

Interpersonal Skills

is very popular in management studies and is known as Johari Window.

uring preparations for my management program I learnt a wonderful concept of checking interpersonal skills which I found so good that I could not stop myself posting it for you with a hope that you’ll love it. The concept

This is a wonderful example and conceptual model for studying interpersonal awareness. It was developed by Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham (the name Johari combines their first names). It is a schematic model that shows how people expose themselves to others and receive feedback from others in their interpersonal relationships. As illustrated in the figure The Johari Window has four parts: Arena, Blindspot, Closed and Dark. Arena represents the “Public self’ that is known to the self and others. The Blindspot area is known to others, but not to the self. The Closed area is the “private self’ which is known to the self but not to others.

is that if Arena is very small, there is very little free and spontaneous interaction. On the other hand, the larger the Arena, the greater the chance for participants in any relationship to make correct perceptual judgments about each other. This accurate perceptual judgment helps them to develop realistic mutual expectations. Meeting these expectations increases their level of trust and influence, and it helps them maintain a mutually satisfying relationship. As Arena expands, the closed area or private self shrinks and it becomes less necessary to hide or deny things one knows or feels. The Blind spot takes longer to reduce because self-concept protection mechanisms are involved.

Arena can be expanded by means of self-disclosure and feedback. These two variables are shown as two large arrows in the figure and range from less to more. Selfdisclosure means revealing oneself to another person and sharing one’s own feelings, emotions, facts and knowledge with that individual. Self disclosure is an act of showing respect for and sharing intimacy with another person. Such an act requires trust in another person and is likely to encourage the other person to follow suit. But self-disclosure involves both rewards and costs. Being open (more self-disclosure) offers the possibility of selfunderstanding, growth and better interpersonal
We can’t Recover

This  life  is  a  matrix  of  consciousness  in  the  coordinates  of  time  and  space.  The  life  spumes  out  of  one  source  and  run  forward  like  a  river.  Our  individualized  consciousness  is  the  foundation of our existence.  All  our  thoughts  and  actions  are  droplets  of  the  river.  Our habits means, that the  mind  believes  that  it  can  not  get  rid  of  a  particular  thought.  Most  people  who  make  up  their  minds  to  stop  smoking  or  to  stop  eating  will  continue  to  those  actions  in  spite  of  themselves.  They  do  not  change  because  their  minds  have  soaked up habits of thought  just  like  a  blotting  paper.  Habit  is  tenacious.  As  a  result of the influence of an  act  we are  likely  to  repeat  it. After so many repetitions  or  practice  it  becomes  the  habit.  So  habits  are  repetition  of  thoughts  and  these  we  have  capacity  to  change.  Though we cannot recover  most  of  the  things  but  we  can recover our habits.

adjustments. On the other hand, when we disclose ourselves to another, we are taking the risk of being rejected, misinterpreted or short changed. However unless someone takes the risk and initiates selfdisclosure, the relationship will not develop.

Feedback reduces the Blind spot area and helps us increase our self-awareness, since we often do not know how others view us. We can guess how they see us by their reactions. But these reactions are often not clear and likely to be misperceived. Unless we receive feedback as to how they see us, or what kind of effects our behaviours have on them. we are likely to be blind to their feelings and reactions.

The feedback given by others can hope to reduce Blind spot. The Interpersonal awareness can be increased in several ways. When you feel that something is wrong with a relationship but the problem area cannot be identified you may take one of the following actions:1. Ask the other party how the relationship is working out for him or her

(i.e. solicit feedback). Take the initiative in expressing your concerns and feelings and listen to the feedback with empathy and without any attempt to defend. The feedback obtained may not be satisfactory but at least opens the door for improvement. 2. Ask yourself whether you are fulfilling the psychological contract. Take stock of your perceptions of mutual expectation and see if each of you is meeting these expectations. Keeping in mind the characteristics of effective feedback, communicate your concerns to your partner.

Are you Killing Someone

ne might anticipate that smog or chemicals pose the biggest threat to our health on a daily basis. But would you believe the greatest cause of oxidative stress in our bodies is cigarette and cigar smoke?

Smoking has been associated with the increased risk of asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, lung cancer, and cardiovascular disease.

We all are aware of the health consequences of smoking, but it is fascinating to realize that the underlying problem is the amount of oxidative stress smoking produces in our bodies. Cigarette smoke contains several different toxins, all of which increase the amount of free radicals appearing not only in our lungs but also throughout our body. No other habit or addiction affects our overall health more dramatically than smoking.

When Dr.C.Everett Koop, the U.S. surgeon general, called smoking an addiction rather than a habit, he forever changed the way we look at smoking. He added, “I know of nothing more addictive than nicotine”.

This is true. How?

Dr. Koop informed the public about the addictive qualities of nicotine, which the tobacco companies supposedly, had known about for half a century. In fact strong evidence exists that says you can become addicted to nicotine within two to three

weeks.’ Is it any wonder that it is so difficult for people to quit smoking? I have found it much more difficult for patients to stop smoking than any other addiction. I believe the absurd and far-reaching cost to our health that cigarette smoke causes is far more than we can determine.

What about secondary smoke or passive smoking? Medical research now proves that individuals who are exposed to significant secondary smoke have an increased risk of asthma, emphysema, heart attacks, and even lung cancer.’ This is the reason so many laws have been passed restricting cigarette smoke in public places.

Have you recently been exposed to a group of people smoking in a confined area? I recall a moment this past month. I had to stop in a place. When I walked into the room to enquire something, six office bearers were sitting around a small table, all smoking cigarettes as they sipped coffee. I could hardly take a breath without coughing. I actually began to feel sick. For those who are not accustomed to cigarette smoke, its effects are more clearly recognizable. I am sure there are times and situations that you’ve had similar experiences. It doesn’t take much imagination to realize that if you are exposed to secondary smoke on a daily basis; it will have a major impact on your health.
The cigarette smoke which is inhaled contains many poisonous chemicals in it. According to this research it was found that smoking may damage the genetic structure of the hair follicles, the tiny structures responsible for hair growth. There were significant associations between moderate or severe alopecia and smoking. It also revealed a clear link between smoking and hair loss, with the heaviest smokers being most likely to suffer from male pattern baldness, even when a family history was taken into account. The researchers found that those who smoked 20 fags a day were more than twice more likely to have moderate or severe hair loss than those who had never smoked. The risk remained elevated even among those who had quit the habit. Don’t get ugly The array of illnesses caused due to smoking gets appended by baldness. A team of international researchers recently has carried out a study and found that puffing on fags makes men prematurely bald as it accelerates the process of hair loss.

Brain Game

houghts are a prerequisite to all our actions. And the thoughts are born as a result of our interaction with our environment. These thoughts at times offer resistance, and act as a catalyst in our daily aspirations at other times.

If we look upon our thoughts anatomically, we will realise that our thoughts are nothing more than a series of chemical reactions. The chemicals - the basic ingredients for these reactions - are always present in our brain, but get stimulated as we go about the process of living our lives.

The chemical reactions which occur in the brain get their stimuli from our external environment (Ether). Equilibrium between the photons (light particles, which are basis of whatsoever we observe) and the thoughtrons (unit of thoughts) should be the end product of these reactions.

The potential value of our thought determines our worth, and the point revolves around whether you feed your environment with your thoughts or does your environment just siphon them into your head. Here, we shall discuss only the impact of the magnitude of the thoughts, and not about them being right or wrong because the things which are universally right will remain right even if you spend your whole life trying to prove otherwise. It is our circumstances that sometimes cloud are vision, and we begin to confuse right and wrong.

January 21, 2008

When we believe something, our mind devises a hundred reasons for it. Similarly, when you believe something is impossible, it becomes unachievable. It is the reactions happening in our head that decide what we think, and what we think eventually becomes what we do. Most of us often use terms like “it’s futile”, “it won’t work”, “can’t be done”, “Huh, it’s stupid”, “It’s hard” etc. By doing so, we make an excuse for our failures, even before we have actually failed.

The people who fail are of two types: those who did and never thought, and those who thought and never did. Going through life without using our ability to think is like shooting without aiming. Believing something cannot be done, is destructive thinking where as believing something can be done brings innovative solutions. The format applies to all situations in life, irrespective of how big or small the situation is. People who do not genuinely believe that they can study and learn at any stage of life are right, and they will fail to do so because their minds are closed to creative ways of learning.

Your Workplace How is your work place, room or work desk where you spend most of the time while working? Do you really love it or it’s simply not effects you or sometimes you are annoyed of it. What so ever it is, it gives your reflection as a whole. I have gathered few points that might just brighten the place you spend your time: Place an inspirational picture and quotation on the wall to help you stay focused on your goals. There should be a proper marked place always in front of your eyes where you can daily update your ‘To Do Lists’. It can be a small notice board. Fragrance your living space with uplifting essential oils such as Jasmine to promote clarity of mind. Introduce a couple of flower pots or indoor plants to purify the air. Keep wall coverings plain and stick to neutral colours to avoid eye strain. Make sure furnishings are practical and comfortable but strive for a minimalist look. Get some fresh air! Good ventilation is important, especially if you are using computers and other electrical equipment. According to ‘Feng-Shui’ place a picture of the sea or some water feature in the north of your room for wealth. According to ‘Vaastu-Shastra’ your work station should be east facing. This is for greater efficiency at work. Throw away unnecessary things to reduce clutter and make sure your living space is neat and clean. Set everything in such a way so that the available space comes up as enhanced. Even minor changes can increase your efficiency; brighten your mood and sense of well-being.

Our belief aids us in creative thinking. We can find a way to create an edifice for us only if we believe we can.

Also, we can choose our attitude most of the times, even if we cannot always choose our circumstances. When we meet someone we either like him or we don’t. But if we believe we can like a person, we usually can change our ideas about that person.

It is not our position but our disposition that determines our destiny.– J. E. Dinger Just like it takes both rain and sun to make a rainbow, it takes both happiness and sorrow to make a life. When we can handle adversity well, it only strengthens us. We cannot control the events that happen in our lives, but we can control how we deal with them.

It is also worth noticing that of all the creatures in the world, humans are physically the most ill-equipped. A human cannot fly like birds, can’t climb like monkey or run like a leopard and he is unable to swim like a crocodile. A human doesn’t have the eye of an eagle, nor the claws and teeth of a wild cat, nor has he the fur of a bear. So, physically, humans are helpless and defenceless.

But nature is reasonable and kind. It has given the greatest gift to humans - the ability to think. With the right thoughts humans can create their own environment, whereas animals have no choice but to adapt to their environment. Sadly, it is only a handful of people who to use this greatest gift - the ability to think - to its full potential.

oday I have listed precepts from Buddhist practice for you. The first five precepts are mandatory for every Buddhist, although the fifth precept is often not observed, because it bans the consumption of alcohol. Precepts no. six

to ten are laid out for those in preparation for monastic life and for devoted lay people unattached to families.
Money can’t buy? Amusements, but not happiness. Bed, but not sleep. Books, but not wisdom. Clock, but not more time. Companions, but not friends. Finery, but not beauty. Food, but not appetite. House, but not a home. Medicine, but not health. Ring, but not a marriage

I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from Harming living beings. Taking things not freely given. Sexual misconduct. False speech. Intoxicating drinks and drugs causing heedlessness. Taking untimely meals. Dancing, singing, music and watching grotesque mime. Use of garlands, perfumes and personal adornment. Use of high seats. Accepting gold or silver. The eight precepts put together number eight and nine and omit the tenth. Lay people may observe the eight precepts on Buddhist festival days. Ordained Theravada monks undertake no less than 227 precepts, which are not listed here.
February 01, 2008

The precepts are a condensed form of Buddhist ethical practice. They are often compared with the ten commandments of Christianity; however, the precepts are different in two respects: First, they are to be taken as recommendations, not commandments. This means the individual is encouraged to use his/her own intelligence to apply these rules in the best possible way. Second, it is the spirit of the precepts -not the text- that counts, hence, the guidelines for ethical conduct must be seen in the larger context of the Eightfold Path. Most of the precepts match to the teachings of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita Do these make any sense for you?

Do you lose your faith

hen my young nephew daily stares me doing my morning prayer rituals I perceive from his eyes that come-on grow up now you are not that small to have an imaginary friend.

Let me take this opportunity to speak my mind that somewhere at times, I lose faith. I lose faith in humanity. I lose faith in wisdom and Goodness. I lose faith in God.

In order to attain a perspective of where you are in the universe right now I love thinking the exploration of cosmos, I just try watching the “zoom out” visualizations with in my head.

Once you get beyond our current galaxy, you tend to disappear. You’re lost in a very deep silent world. A world of planets, mass objects obeying the laws of the universe. No emotion. No human feeling. No love. And quite possibly even no God. As you keep going deeper, further away billions of light years from earth, where huge bunch of galaxies together seem like twisting strings, where size, as humans can comprehend has no meaning.

When you are there watching the crazy things that humans do, on their tiny little planet. When you’re out there in the silence, in the non-human world, devoid of contact, devoid of true life. You just might lose faith. Where is the God in this? Are we really as “special” as we think? Or could we be a mere accident of the universe, without any significant meaning.

February 12, 2008

Let’s consider, just for a moment, that God does not exist. That we, as humans, are just a rather splendid coincidence. And that, when we die, we just end up in dust. Soon to be blown away and forgotten. Does that make a difference to your life? For many people, the answer is ‘Yes’.

But here’s the crazy thing. The more you consider that as an option, the more you realize the importance of living now. Even if – God forbid! - There’s absolutely no supreme, and we’re literally alone as coincidental beings in this universe…

Doesn’t that make it even more important to truly live your life to the full? To truly let go of your self-consciousness, and begin living this life with an enthusiasm?
Are you committed? Commitment not kept result in dishonest behaviour. I wonder how any relation regardless of whether professional or personal would work if on says, “I will stick with you till I find something better” or “I will try but I cannot commit, don’t count on me.“ In parent-child, husband-wife or friendfriend relation there is no space for such element. The uncertainty of not being able to depend upon the basic tenets of these relationships could lead to insanity. Our strongest bond of relationship is tied with the bond of commitment. Some people who on breaking commitment or promise is considered no big deal have confined growth. All relationship go sour without commitment. An integral part of a good value system is commitment. When your value system is clear it will be lot easier to make decisions and commitments. Today’s RHR tells you to check your commitments. Try it today!

To stop procrastinate, as you have been, and to instead start enjoying your time here on earth and to begin living your life as your own supreme standards. through your own rules and

You see, after all that thinking maybe the only real meaning to life. Do you also loose your faith?

Youthfulness - A State of Mind

veryone is interested in youthfulness. In one way or another everyone is seeking the fabled “Fountain of Youth.” But what is youth? All young people are not necessarily youthful; some are already old and jaded far beyond

their years. In contrast, some elderly people remain youthful in spite of their advancing age. They keep their minds young. Their smiles trickle down from their souls into their bodies and faces; their very life blood throbs with the joy of being. And then there are those dull, lifeless persons who are as good as dead before they die and they don’t even know it. They are the “walking dead.” You see many people like that-negative, critical, moody, and dispirited.

There is no excuse for a wrong state of mind. You must be always positive-minded, cheerful, smiling, and vibrant. By all means, practice this mental youthfulness that comes from the core of your being.

Thus, the age of the body has no real connection with youthfulness. It is the state of the mind and the expression of the soul that make a person youthful. The definition of youth is that state of body, mind, and soul in which one feels the acme, the zenith, of joy and power. If you want to, you can retain that state indefinitely. Conversely, by carelessness you can lose it very easily.

If we consider from the mental standpoint we will realize the fact that the mind is the controller; i.e. it is at the controls of this body. The body itself is designed by the mind. We are the sum total of the consciousness we ourselves have created over a period
March 01, 2008

of time (incarnations). This mind, or consciousness, is the supreme force that governs all voluntary and involuntary activities of this bodily factory with its multifarious outputs.

Positive Belief

elief and faith are often used synonymously and thus not always correctly. Faith is something much more than mere belief, as will be shown. In belief, as in doubt, there is a constructive and a destructive element. Applied

constructively, adherence to valid beliefs leads to realization. There are certain truths which cannot be understood by the sensory mind. Phenomena can be interpreted by the intellect from sensory experience, but not the substance underlying it. This requires inner clarifications. The teacher who has attained realization does the same to the undeveloped disciple, “Until you are able to understand, believe and follow me.”

It does not mean blind acceptance. Constructive belief has reason within it. Reason and feeling confirm that there is some truth behind every valid belief. If one can gain access to his inherent discriminative intelligence, he can arrive at that truth-the inner comprehension of truth that is attainable only by the spiritual development of the soul’s intuitive powers of perception. Until then, there might be contradiction between the student’s reason and the master’s realization. So true masters must ask their students to believe, to take for granted certain concepts on their authority, knowing that in time they can realize those truths for themselves.

If your IT teacher explains programming concepts to you, but you close your mind and say you do not believe him, because, at the moment you do not understand; then he cannot teach you. You have to note down his each and every instruction. If you do not
March 25, 2008

get the promised results you will be justified in doubting, but you must be careful before you pronounce judgment, be sure you do not commit any error in solving the problem. So you must see, you must begin with the belief.

Getting Meticulous
Today’s RHR is about being meticulous attitude. During my daily office job I found some shortcut methods where I can compromise to quality. Furthermore when I noticed that no one was watching me and least bothered about my approach than I remembered myself that supreme is watching me. This feeling added the dynamic drive from within and I was introduced to even more meticulous person hidden inside. Getting Meticulous gives you immense satisfaction which otherwise can never be obtained.

Get fired up, Problems never leave us the way they found us. Every person is affected by the tough times. No one emerges from a problem untouched by tough times.

One has to be fired before one gets fired up. You may not be able to control the times, but you can compose your response. You can turn your pain into profanity or into poetry. The choice is up to you. You may not have chosen your tough time, but you can choose what your problem will do to you. You definitely can choose how you will react to it. Toy or Dull Boy

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, All play and no work makes Jack a mere toy.

I don’t know which one is correct but it is for sure that the task priority whether it is study or play should be well defined in your time table. From last couple of months I am running under work load due to which I was not able to enjoy
March 16, 2007

even my holidays.

I can’t afford to lose on the work front. I can’t afford to lose on fun front as well. To keep myself in extracurricular front as well the strategy should work was to stretch my week days slightly by working more hours and as soon as I arrive on holiday I should make full use of it as desired by me.

Demand Prayers

ach one of us as a human being can not afford to stay back in a phase for a longer period. So we should stretch our horizons to its best to enjoy our lives.

For as a wet match cannot be ignited, so as many saturated with doubt and restlessness is unable to produce the fire of concentration, even when extraordinary efforts are made to strike the cosmic spark.

Select a demand from the contents according to your need. Sitting motionless on a straight chair, with spine erect, calm your mind. The flame of inspiration is hidden within the lines of prayer; but since they are presented through the mute medium of printer’s ink, paper, and intellectual meanings, one must use his own intuition and devotion to forth their inner illumining flame.

Different minds reading the same article may interpret it differently. The vast ocean of truth can be measured and perceived only according to the capacity of one’s own intelligence and perception. Similarly, the inspiration behind prayer-demands will be felt according to the depths of own intuition and feeling.

In order to benefit fully from the nature’s warmth within prayer, one should take only a paragraph at a time from any demand, mentally picture the meaning, visualize descriptions of the figure of speech, and meditate deeply on it. Until the fiery essence emerges, free from word limitations.
April 25, 2007

One may wish to read a complete prayer-demand to get a quick view of its entire meaning. But if he will then reread it over and over again, many times, and then with closed repeatedly try to feel the deep inspiration behind and with it, he will spiritualize that prayer-that is, rouse the inspiring beneath the thick silken quilt of words.

Earn Friendship God comes only to those who are purely humble and true devotees. When you love Him, you will know Him; and you will know He is fully present in every soul. It doesn’t matter whether that soul is covered by a charcoal or a diamond personality; God is equally present in both. But the diamond mentality of the saint more fully reflects God! There is no joy comparable to that joy which comes when you have earned the friendship of God. And it is most wonderful to share that joy with others. They should be able to concentrate most on what they need to know most and, when needed, find out a lot about related things. This requires an accessible environment designed the way people think. People want to solve problems, think, and collaborate. They do not want to use truth. Truth is a means not an end or destination. Truth must serve the people not the other way round. In some cases truth creates knowledge management problems faster than solutions. A formal gentleman is the biggest liar. Wearing clothing is also artificiality. If we indulge ourselves in an endeavour to reveal the naked truth we will land nowhere. The flux of Natural River may be of no use but after making artificial dams to move turbines under it can generate power. Truth telling in front of your boss or girl friend may invite disaster. If truth had been the sole criteria people would have perfected it by now. Information, Knowledge and Skills I completely subscribe to Mahatma Gandhi’s beautiful quote, “There is no God higher than Truth”. But in addition to it we must learn that truth is a medium to pass the information to ones knowledge without adding any artificiality into it. Knowledge is information that changes somebody by making an individual capable of effective action. Knowledge is viewed as a collection of agreed upon explicit or formal facts, learning, rules, and practices with lot more. Skills are seen as information processing competencies that can generate explicit knowledge, skills might add some artificial lies to the truth and are learned with practice; knowledge is learned by studying or investigating. It may be “tacit” and “explicit” first one is personal and cannot be shared

& second one is knowledge that can be expressed. Although the terms “information” and “knowledge” are often used interchangeable there is a clear distinction. Information is a flow of messages, while knowledge is created by that flow of information and is anchored in the beliefs and commitment of its holder. Traditional modification focuses on how to control the information flow and information processing within the society. This view however, fails to capture the essence of

society as knowledge creating entity and continuous self-transcending process, which requires a new kind of management that goes beyond the traditional models. No form is ideal No form is ideal in all situations in this evolving world. Speaking lie in today’s scenario has not remained evil but has turned into an art. We can not afford treating people like brainless cattle, telling truth mechanically as a thumb rule is like not using your brain. If you are not equipped with this management skill then you has to upgrade fast other wise you will harm yourself and your folks. Why to underutilize yourself? Truth should be in heart such that it becomes your intent. I will love to keep shut rather then complaining my friend’s mischief to the class teacher. We have been blessed with wonderful brain by the Mother Nature. Further more it will be a disgrace for any one of us, if some one tells us to stop using our brain and take something as a thumb rule. The day when we stop using our rational heads will turn us mechanical. If you have not attained the threshold of using your head in the right fashion just like a new born baby who is yet to learn the art of talking, YES you have got the absolute right to check the rule of speaking truth without bothering your coconut.

Spiritual school of thought: Most of the times truth is bitter, speak up the truth to the extent you are ready to take it. The universal law of cause and effect does not document that how many times in a day you spoke truth but how you met your good or bad intent. A negative intent can be easily encapsulated with the wrapper of speaking truth.

Do not lie to yourself Do not lie to the extent that you start repenting once. Only you will decide it for yourself. Just look to whom you are telling lie. I have got one truth, you have another. There comes a time to let me know and analyze what the other side thinks and

decide about my belief of truth. Let’s say you are doing something which you can’t share with your friends and parents it means there is something wrong associated with it. One more factor says, truth is relative and evolves from time to time. There was a time when flying in space for man was not truth but today it is a truth. Paradox: While many guys take truth as the top priority, only a few are only at a stage of implementation: It’s the mind shift of the heads to add truth to the personality. Telling truth 24X7 is such an absurd, pretentious and profoundly confusing rule that many of those who naturally speak truth refuse to take it. Some time I really wonder this paradoxical image. Call it the truth management paradox: those who are so busy “putting out fires” have least time to speak truth. Truth is advocated by those who need most to cope up with their truths.
There is no joy comparable to that joy which comes when you have earned the friendship of God. And it is most wonderful to share that joy with others. When a cup is filled with milk, and you pour more into it, it overflows. You can’t help it. When friendship becomes divine, you will love all when you love God, you can truly love others. Your perception of souls is pure-like a crystal-clear mirror. Whoever comes before you will be reflected there as he really is.

Bottom-line: There is not even a single doubt that a person with positive intent, good skills and higher truth quotient can make really big!

Ac ccording to T Tibetan Mon Riponche, Beneath th fear of de nk his eath lies the ultimate fea ar, nd, the fear of loo e oking into ou urselves,” B death ca be a frien he told the crowd a But an at Inte erface.

“Death holds the key to the meaning of life,” which is why Trappist brothers regularly greet each other with the Latin phrase memento mori, “remember you are dying,”. “Remembering brings life into focus; it sorts out your priorities, so you do not live a trivial life. It helps you take care of the most important things in life first. Don’t worry about dying; that will happen successfully whether you worry about it or not.”
If you’re feeling low and find that everything is going wrong. You will feel unhappy and give up to what is happening. If you’re feeling depressed and drowning your sorrows at the pub you have chosen to react with a negative attitude before you could realize it. If, however, you wave off disappointments with a positive resolve and affirm that you’re not going to let anything bring you down, you’re more likely to move on and experience a positive result. Here your attitude only counts! How true the words are: “Our attitude toward life determines life’s attitude towards us.” There is so much of this attitude around these days but, alas, not always the good stuff. Adopting the right attitude, however, can make the difference between having good experiences or bad ones. It can even make dreams come true! As per to dictionary meaning, attitude is “a way of thinking or behaving.” It is your outlook on life… How you see and, more importantly, how you respond to whatever happens as you go about your day. What most people don’t realize is that, ultimately, it’s your attitude that creates your experiences. Check your current outlook is it working for or against you? Take control of your Environment

He warns his students not to think about death “when you are depressed,” but rather “when you are on holiday or impressed by music or natural

beauty.” This dying forces you to look into yourself. And in this, Compassion and Love is the only way. This will keep you controlled. Enjoy your days.

Today in RHR we will talk about a very special human quality, Hope! Perhaps you have read the story of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker and his crew when their plane fell into the Pacific. There were seven men in life rafts for twenty one days with nothing but water and sun for as far as the eye could see. What is hope anyway? Hope is that magical emotion which is unseen but, causes us to see the evidence of what we desire before we get it. It’s not really faith. Faith is like the heater in your house. Hope is like the thermostat on the wall. Hope can be regulated up and down. The more you turn it up, the more fire it creates in your belly. The more fire you create in you, the more fear you expel.

According to some documented text the Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for. Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one’s life. Hope implies a certain amount of despair, wanting, wishing, suffering or perseverance — i.e., believing that a better or positive outcome is possible even when there is some evidence to the contrary.

Hopefulness is somewhat different from optimism in that hope is an emotional state, whereas optimism is a conclusion reached through a deliberate thought pattern that leads to a positive attitude. But hope and optimism both can be based in unrealistic

belief or fantasy. In religion, hope is one of the three theological virtues (faith, hope, and charity), which are spiritual gifts of God. In contrast to the above, it is not a physical emotion but a spiritual grace. Hope is distinct from positive thinking, which refers to a healing or systematic process used in psychology for reversing pessimism. The term false hope refers to a hope based entirely around a fantasy or an extremely unlikely outcome. Hope for Happy Endings. The idea that things can change or it can get better, that the day will be brighter tomorrow that people will smile again. When life seems empty, hollow, lacking direction and just plain pointless - hope is the one thing that pulls us through.

And the great thing about you and me - is that we have it. Miles and miles of unlimited hope all stored neatly inside us. Think about it. Are there things in your life you’ve resigned yourself to having lost or having second best? Is there something you know you should change? We always have HOPE. A belief - an intention - of change for the better. Knowingness that we can always hope for a brighter today - and accept those things we simply can’t change (and maybe even become stupidly obsessed about). In the areas of your life that are hollow right now. How’s your hope looking? Why not pump up your hope? Make it big and bright and beautiful. Keep it high. Stop feeling sorry for yourself - and get out and change the world. Remember, your HOPE - your intention sets your direction. So, hope for better things - and then make them happen. Then get ready for Happy Endings!
You have the power to hurt yourself or to benefit yourself. It is up to you to keep away the insects of ignorance that bite your flesh. If you do not choose to be happy no one can make you happy. Do not blame God for that! And if you choose to be happy, no one can make you unhappy. We have been given freedom to use our own will, we could blame God when we are unhappy, but He did give us that freedom. It is we who make of life what it is. You may ask, “Why, if we have free choice, do things not turn out as we wish them to be” It is because you have weakened your will, your consciousness of divine powers within you. But if you strengthen your will by practicing self-control and meditation, it becomes free; and as soon as your will is free, you are master of your fate. But if you find that day by day you are living a life against your conscience, you will never be free. You must take time to do the things I that are good for your own welfare. No one stops you but yourself. You make yourself a prisoner of your own moods and bad habits. That is why you must train your -will to be more elastic. Keep your will under control by doing the best things in life, thinking more of God, practicing self-control, meditating more and so on. Imprisoning Yourself

The Loudest Voice

and this is what every human being yearns for. People feel elevated as you listen to them when they tell how handsome, how smart, how honest, and how intelligent they are. When you listen to a person’s ideas and opinions sincerely, you let him feel that he is wanted. Psychologically he feels secure. No one wants to be a non-entity. Even the lowliest of the peon wants to be treated as something useful. True, everyone wants to be treated as somebody.

an you imagine times when silence has the loudest voice? The art of listening is a solution for almost all human problems. If you really listen to what the other person has to say, you virtually make him feel important to

Listening skill wins you a friend for ever: It lubricates the machinery of all social relationships in general.

The officer who listens to what his employees say becomes the most popular. Most of his problems are amicably solved. The employees who are allowed to, give their advice on matters of importance develop their individual identity. And such employees prove much more productive and constructive.

The father who keeps the doors of his mind open to his children develops excellent family relations. He makes his children feel duly valuable, who develop a sense of self-esteem. The same applies to husband, wife, relatives’ and friends.
October 02. 2008

The more patiently one listens, the thicker the relations. One can even mend a problem person when the latter is properly listened to.

Learning the art of listening requires tact and patience. Just make it a hobby to take interest in others’ problems. This will not only make you listen more, but will also make you forget your own problems. You will not only develop good relations with others but most of your problems would be solved automatically through relations.

Learning the art of listening is a matter of practice. The more you practice, the more proficient you will become in listening. There is nothing to lose. You certainly have much more to gain!
Win or Loose Even though I hate writing on people or events but something moved me today. I was able to see a thought in this small event. I accompanied my friend to one local bank. While he was busy performing formalities I was waiting in the lounge. I waited there almost for fifteen minutes. I noticed two guys sitting on my side busy in their conversation. For most of the time I overheard them. I found one was talking in a nonstop manner and another was no more than hearing to him. The one who was listening patiently seemed to be convinced by the ideas of another. It appeared that one who is behaving as a babble box has utterly superimposed another who seemed to be a dumb. As per management specs I can say it was totally a 1-0 situation. After a moment or two my consideration worked another way, the one who was listening patiently gained a lot out of their the whole one way discussion and eventually moved with some idea into his head where as another one was completely exhausted. For both of them the reasons of doing what they did were relative. Apparently the scenario seemed to be of loosing and winning but on the same time the moment was itself a lesson. Somewhere I was examining their listening abilities in which the winner seemed to me a looser.

Believe it or not, the art of listening is your ticket to success. It may seem difficult to learn, but once learnt, it pays dividends.

“Much talking is the cause of danger. Silence is the means of avoiding misfortune. The talkative parrot is shut up in a cage. Other birds, without speech, fly freely about.” -Saskya Pandita (1182-1251), Tibetan Grand Lama of Saskya

whatsoever you get you will be bored with, and what so ever you do not get you will long for, some slavery, some bondage. When you are in bondage you’ll long for freedom – and free people try again to be slaves. The mind goes on like a pendulum, moving from one extreme to another.
Our lives are very short and we try to get the best in this one life. It depends upon the individuals what goals he is looking to achieve. Is he looking at his inner soul or the outer world? These are the two aspects of human life one that relates to the physical body and the other that relates to the soul. One should not forget that spiritually is the only thing that makes an individual centred and indulge in activities that result in the awakening of the soul. The material world comprises basic human needs, but it is to be kept subordinate and tributary to ones spirit. The worth and true value of a person lies beyond his mere ego, as it embraces his inner self. Man is supposed to be naturally religious. Our spiritual beliefs are strengthened by the use of religious tokens and places of worship as a means to connect to the ultimate spiritual and unseen power. Increase Power of mind Be it greed, attachment, material pursuits or ego our mind guides us and is the most important deciding factor. It’s all in the mind; the mind experiences the joy when these emotions are attended to.

Love doesn’t become an attachment, rather it was a need; love was just the attraction. You were in search of a need named attachment; love was just an attraction to catch the need. When the fish is caught, the bait is thrown. Remember this, and whenever you are doing something, go deep within yourself to find about the basic cause. The moment you feel you are no longer dependent on anyone, a deep silence settles inside and self reliance comes. It does not mean that you start staying alone or stop loving. On the contrary, for the first time you will know a new quality, a new dimension of love – a love that is no longer biological, a love that is closer to friendliness than any relationship of the world.

Appreciation with words

oday in RHR piece of advice which I

read somewhere is, “The next time you receive don’t particularly just thank good the service person

concerned. Get their name and write a letter of praise to their manager.”

“If for some reason you can’t get their name, describe them in enough detail so that their manager will have no problem identifying who it is. Many people working in service industries get little recognition for their efforts, so something like this really can make their day!”
A warm Hug for free Today’s RHR throws a question on you When did you last hugged your Father/ Brother/ Sister/ Son/ Daughter? If you are free from recapitulating it, tell me have you ever hugged someone stranger to you When was the last time you gave someone a passionate warm real hug for absolutely no reason whatsoever? If it’s been a while, then make it today. That’s the challenge. A warm Hug! Of course absolutely anybody! For any reason or no reason, whatsoever.

I am sure it really makes a difference? Something similar happened recently to my office. I am responsible for the administration of periodic data reports upload on the organization website, most of the time I myself do it as most of colleagues find it an unexciting and sheer misuse effort except for the boss who follows it randomly. In my absence nobody bothered to upload data on web. But one gentleman volunteered his services outstandingly not only on weekdays but also on holidays and managed to call from his place to share the

details of alterations. His sincerity and conduct brings him on far ahead to others.5

Though I brought this issue to the knowledge of superiors, I am not sure how it affected him but certainly my  good vibes definitely reached him.
