Took Wolf Trap Foundation from an unpatched, non-compliant, non-secure network with rampant uncontrolled viruses located in a small kitchen-pantry and with nonsecured and loose connections to a campus-wide solution that is fully integrated, incorporating servers, MACs, PCs, AD, telephone system, retail boxoffice system, security, fundraising, point of sale, and guest worker wireless, and which provided a secure, PCI-DSS compliant computing environment for 7000 patrons nightly, all artists, and 165 Foundation, NPS, and Internship employees. Responsibilities: Hands-on Information Systems department head in Academic and Performing Arts Organization with operating budget of over $17 million. Responsible for design and overall operation of Network, Servers, Telephony, Security, Antivirus, Applications, and Helpdesk. Reported directly to SVP on all matters. Developed and maintained standard operating procedures, budget ($150K annually), procurement, DRP, security, etc. Installed and managed Windows NT/2000/2003 Active Directory, WINS, IIS, DHCP, DNS, SQL 2000 SE/2005EE, Citrix Presentation Server, etc. Successfully managed resolution of over 43,000 work orders. Hands-on: MS Exchange 5.5/2000ST/2003EE/2007EE, Abra Payroll/HR, Macola G/L, Internet, and maintained legacy systems for dynamic performing arts venue with international stature in a national park setting. Designed and developed long-term, stable, and secure solution for www.wolftrap.org with Savvis Webhost and their Content Delivery Network. Coordinated security of LAN/WAN and web host with Firewall, security patches, virus protection, SPAM filter, NAT, etc. Designed complete voice and data infrastructure for new Center for Education and Wolf Trap National Park campus. Replaced old, multi-vendor 10base-T hub and switch network with a layer-3 switching from Extreme Networks. Installed and configured guest worker wireless using Meru Networks. Leveraged Data Network and Wireless Network for VoIP and Wireless VoIP. Connected two sides of the campus that was split by the Dulles Toll Road by using Microwave radios from Tessco and Dascom.

 

Designed concessions operation using MS RMS, Retail Realm, PC Charge for 23 lanes. The second generation registers were refurbished from eBay which facilitated a lifecyle extension and system response improvement for all cashiers while maintenance contracts were not approved. Achieved and maintained PCI-DSS compliance on Sonicwall firewall exposures. Served as Chairman of the Technology Committee in a non-profit organization focused on STEM. Improvised and was quite creative in working with tight nonprofit IT budgets in difficult economic conditions, delivering required solutions on time and under budget. Instrumental in acquiring software, software assurance, and elearning grants of over $2.2M from Microsoft Large Software Grant division. Initiated and received TOP grant equipment donations of over $350,000.00. Built servers myself in cost-containment effort. In many cases, these servers were purchased from eBay in parts. Presented at and participated in Strategic Planning, Business Continuity, and other internal meetings and conferences. Motivated and creative problem-solver with expertise, knowledge, and extensive experience in all levels of technical support and team leadership. Managed all IT Staff, with 3 employees reporting to me. Trained 150 Foundation Staff and 15 National Park Service Staff. Coordinated mail exchange among Lotus Notes, cc:Mail, and the Internet. Provided senior-level support, team leadership, and training for helpdesk staff.
