• Most schools start at 8:45 (DCPS) or 8:30 (St. Coletta, Accotink) • Three DCPS learning centers for special ed children start at 7:45: Mamie D. Lee, Prospect, and Taft • The earlier start enables crews on these routes to make a second round of pickups on 65 of the 68 routes serving those schools • Could DCPS start more schools earlier? • Could DCPS offer special “before/after” classes for special ed students, in exchange for part of the savings generated by enabling buses to cover multiple routes?
