THE BRIEF Make Yahoo! the world’s most popular homepage through a digital creative campaign. BACKGROUND Yahoo! was the original .com start-up page. Now Google and Facebook are more popular. There is a need to inspire the users, and new Internet users, to set Yahoo! as their homepage and create a Yahoo! Email account. TARGET AUDIENCE 13-18 year olds. They use the Internet for work, social networking, music, videos, gaming, blogging and photo sharing. CONCEPT Make Yahoo! more personal. Teenagers like to be listened and have a social networking page on the Internet. The concept is to re-introducing blogging to Yahoo!, leading to constant interaction with the website. DELIVERABLES Blogging web page, phone and tablet app for the website and digital advertising.

02/03 BLOG SITE

CONCEPT I wanted to take the elements from the leading websites which teenagers use today, and combine them in one. They use it for blogging, photo sharing, music and video sharing and social networking. THE NAME I kept the ‘Yah!’ from Yahoo so the page was easily connected with the main site. In addition, ‘yah’ is slang, a word that connects and is used frequently by the target audience. The users will have to sign up with a Yahoo email account before being able to set up their blog. This morning, our primary datacenter effectively lost its connection to the Internet after our upstream provider (ISP) suffered a major outage caused by broken fiber lines. It took nearly five hours before service was fully restored. Our failover procedures, designed to immediately rebalance traffic over our backup connections, failed to work as expected.

Saw this on RudeTube, something quite amusing!

I kept the overall theme similar to the original Yahoo! Website, and picked various colours from the pack provided with the brief. THE SITE I designed six pages to the blog;, covering the main aspects of what the target audience uses the internet for; homepage, blogging page, photo blogging, video blogging, music library and blog, and the messaging.

03/03 SMART PHONE APP

CONCEPT The majority of the target audience owns a smartphone and uses app rather than the Internet on their phone. By creating an app, it makes their Yah!Blog more accessible on the go, encouraging more interaction with Yahoo! overall. DESIGN I kept the same colour scheme as the blog design and the spot colour of the brand, and just reduced the amount of information.
