Child Rights Expert, Bulleh Shah Packaging (pvt) Ltd.

Bulleh Shah Packaging (Private) Limited is a joint venture being set up in Pakistan between Packages Limited and Stora Enso Oyj. Packages Ltd. is the countrys leading integrated packaging company. The company produces paper and board and converts it into high quality printed packaging products. The company uses the latest available technology in its flexible, carton and corrugated packaging lines to cater to the needs of the best known companies of the country. Stora Enso Oyj is a world leader in the board and packaging business and has through this JV expanded its renewable packaging business to Pakistan. The company produced approx. 11 million tonnes of paper and board last year and is the largest supplier of liquid packaging board. Their total turnover amounted to approx. Euro 11 billion. Packages Ltd. is pleased that its long history of successful joint ventures has encouraged a global player to invest in Pakistan. The joint venture will to a large extent provide packaging products, such as liquid packaging board, folding boxboard and corrugated packaging, to key local and international companies in the fast-growing market of Pakistan. The turnover for 2012 will be in excess of Rs 10 billion and the JV is planning for a substantial increase in its production capacity of paperboard. The company will have its paperboard and corrugated packaging operations mainly in Kasur, (50km away from Lahore) and a corrugated packaging operation in the city of Karachi. This position will initially be in Lahore and later relocated to Kasur.

Child Rights Expert Description The position is based on a 24 months contract. The position will report to the Sustainability Director. Key responsibilities The Child Rights Expert will be an expert in strategies, mitigation and remediation plans concerning various child rights related aspects in Pakistan such as child labour in supply chain issues The expert will develop and maintain a database for child labour cases, and will monitor each individual case closely through the governing remediation plan. This database including full monitoring will include child labour cases from the direct and indirect supply chain of the JV The expert will develop a screening model for the JVs suppliers to detect child labour cases. The expert will further develop a training module for all buyers, HR and purchasers within the JV to increase the knowledge of child labour mitigation and remediation plans, and transfer the knowledge of mitigation and remediation tools to the same. The aim will be to make the purchasing/buying self-standing within 24 months with regard to the complete supply chain issues with monitoring expertise Community development related to children The expert will develop a mitigation plan based on a vocational training community building project The expert will also advise the JV on surrounding issues on child rights (health, education, safety etc.) and mitigation plans on the same Requirements Relevant university education for child rights expertise Strong track record within child rights A solid background in organizations such as ILO, UNICEF or Save the Children or similar. A deep knowledge in current child rights projects running in Pakistan.
