At the same time. most forms of transportation today still use traditional fuels like petrol. Our energy consumption in houses and 15 businesses comes mainly from petroleum. Due to the high price of this product. fuel is still the most efficient means to power the world. IV Besides that. kerosene and diesel. Therefore. India and Brazil are also growing. Therefore. it is necessary to look for other energy sources in the form of alternative energy. This is clear proof that petroleum is the main source of energy. When these countries place a demand for energy which cannot be met. coal. or nuclear energy to produce electricity. power demands and transportation needs may increase in the future as the world population grows. other products like petrol and electricity are also becoming expensive. These can be found in alternative energy which is converted from the sun. 25 CONFIDENTIAL 20 © Hak Cipta Universiti Teknologi MARA . For example. oil and natural gas. very important. We have long depended on oil as our primary fuel. electricity is not generated. Many governments and private agencies have started promoting alternative energy to overcome the looming energy crisis caused by the reduction of the non-renewable sources of energy that are represented by fossil fuels such as coal. wave action in the shores and solar energy from the sun. Many experts believe this problem can only be solved by the use of alternative energy. the world is running out of gas and we need to find a solution to overcome the problem immediately as we do not have much time. Alternative energy sources have evolved over time and now include new technology like fuel cells. One of them is the unpredictability of wind. 10 15 III Alternative energy involves renewable natural sources that produce energy. 20 IV One of the alternative sources is wind energy. These sources may be wind. Sites are another problem. thermal energy from the earth. However. the turbines do not rotate. Energy is a big issue in the world today because we are facing an energy shortage. Energy here refers to the fuel that drives our cars. 5 II Why do we need alternative energy? We face a problem in the 21st century because our reserves of fossil fuels are running low and cannot be renewed. thus. Alternative energy usually involves the production of electricity via the use of these natural and renewable sources. when there is no wind. However. In other words.
