Family  Night  Activities   December  21,  2012  Calendar   GOD  NEVER  CHANGES

Preparation:   Explore  options  for  serving  others  in  your  community  and  arrange  for  your  family  to   participate.    (i.e.  gathering  gifts  or  food  for  homeless  families,  helping  an  elderly  neighbor   put  up  Christmas  decorations.  .  .)   • Make  necessary  preparations  for  the  night  of  service.

NOTE:    When  lighting  the  Advent  Candle  this  week,  talk  with  the  family  about  the  fact  that   God  wants  us  to  share  His  unchanging  love  with  others.  He  wants  us  to  reach  out  and  be  His   hands  and  feet  to  those  in  need.    He  cares  about  them  as  much  as  He  cares  about  us.    Each   of  us  can  be  a  part  of  bringing  His  Christmas  gift  to  those  in  need!   Third  Advent  Candle:  Joy   Light  two  purple  candles  (Hope  and  Peace)  and  the  third  candle  representing  Joy.     Read  Matthew  2:9-‐10.      After  this  interview  the  wise  men  went  their  way.    And  the  star  they   had  seen  in  the  east  guided  them  to  Bethlehem.    It  went  ahead  of  them  and  stopped  over  the   place  where  the  child  was.    When  they  saw  the  star  they  were  filled  with  joy!    They  entered  the   house  and  saw  the  child  with  His  mother,  Mary,  and  they  bowed  down  and  worshiped  Him.     Then  they  opened  their  treasure  chests  and  gave  Him  gifts  of  gold,  frankincense,  and  myrrh.     (NLT)     Read  Luke  2:8-‐14.    That  night  there  were  shepherds  staying  in  the  fields  nearby,  guarding   their  flock  of  sheep.    Suddenly,  an  angel  of  the  Lord  appeared  among  them,  and  the  radiance   of  the  Lord’s  glory  surrounded  them.    They  were  terrified,  but  the  angel  reassured  them.     “Don’t  be  afraid,”  he  said.    “I  bring  you  good  news  that  will  bring  great  joy  to  all  people.    The   Savior—yes  the  Messiah,  the  Lord—has  been  born  today  in  Bethlehem,  the  city  of  David!”     (NLT)     Read  John  15:11.    Jesus  said,  I  have  told  you  these  things  so  that  you  will  be  filled  with  My   joy.    Yes,  your  joy  will  overflow!    (NLT)     Prayer:    Thank  God  for  the  joy  He  gives  through  Jesus.     Extinguish  the  flames.
