INTERVENTION
PROBLEM/OBJECTIVE
Dearborn Park unintentionally became a thoroughfare for passers-through, rather than a destination to visit and enjoy. The design did not accommodate the needs of local residents, such as dog walking and a destination for play and/or repose. The re-design accommodates resident’s current uses, with a flexible program for additional and future civic uses.

The plaza takes form with elements complementing the shipyard theme. The shape of the slip is noted in the elongated water feature and industrial I-beam seating. Multi-surface groundcover and wooden planks embedded in the plaza, give nod to wooden ship decking. Riprap boulder seating complements the water’s edge, bringing it to the rest of the site

Libre Parc is located at the convergence of ‘traditional‘ Paris to the East and ‘modern‘ Paris to the West. Our firm’s expertise lays in the challenge of renovative design solutions, merging the ‘contemporary‘ with the ‘classical‘ to produce timeless modern landscapes.

Phase Two begins with a time-use demographic analysis of Libre Parc. The information found in the analysis will essentially provide us with program elements of several different parks (example: morning, noon, evening). The concept of the ‘re-mixed‘ park is merging these different parks into one, by creating multipurpose and multifunctional site elements.

I am an avid outdoors enthusiast & massive nerd. My spirit is invigorated being outside in nature, taking the dog for a walk, jogging on cool dewy mornings, snowboarding on powder or ice, mountain and road biking, hiking and trail running. Consequently, this is balanced with a vigor to learn and absorb information through reading, digital and print, documentaries, and museum visits: WIRED, National Geographic, classic literature like A Sand County Almanac and Lost Horizon, LAM, Co-Design, Gary Hustwit films, TEDtalks, and so forth. Complementary to the fields Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design, I completely ‘nerd out’ on the topics of ergonomics, etymology, and industrial, interactive, and high-tech arts, as well as open-sourced and remixed culture.
