Kalki Koechlin is often called ‘alternative’ for her choice of movies. “Probably because I refuse to be labelled. I’m not into preconceived notions. But I really do believe that we have such an opportunity to create different platforms where different genres, characters and narratives can coexist,” the actor said in an interview. The Indian actor of French descent (her French parents were hippies in Pondicherry), considers college-goers as her real audience. “I think I’m a product of a generation that sees young people being more opinionated than ever before. When I go to Bhavans College in Mumbai for rehearsals, I see the kids... they’re hard-core, more than I was as a teenager. The way they dress, some are goth, some are grunge. This increased awareness of the world around them has opened them to different opinions and many points of view. They are our new audience. I take them very seriously,” said Kalki, who wants that there should be a space available for those who think differently.

I refuse to be labelled: Kalki I don’t stoop that low: Akshay Kumar on Anita Advani Koechlin
Actor Akshay Kumar says that he will not react to his father-inlaw late actor Rajesh Khanna’s alleged live-in partner Anita Advani’s allegations against him and his family. “No, I don’t stoop that low. I don’t talk about that,” the actor says when asked about Advani’s allegations against him and the Khanna family. When asked about the counter petition that he has filed against Advani in the Bombay high court claiming that she had no right to claim any share from Khanna’s properties, the actor says, “You will have to ask my lawyer.” In her petition and interviews to media, Advani has alleged that after Khanna passed away in July this year, his family members evicted her and that they have forged the late actor’s will. Akshay was in town to promote his film Khiladi 786. “I come (to Delhi) every month. I have my house here and I come and stay here quietly. I enjoy Delhi and especially this weather. If I ever want to put on weight, I come to Delhi in this weather. I love Old Delhi ... it has the best

Zoya Akhtar is all for Bollywood’s star system
Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar strongly believes in Bollywood’s star system and feels it has helped the industry build an identity in the map of world cinema. “Star system is important. If you see worldwide, India, Hollywood and China — all these film industries have a star system. Others industries that don’t have stars, are dying,” says Zoya. Having directed filmstars Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol and her younger brother Farhan Akhtar, the 40-year-old says that India has survived Hollywood because “we have our language; we have our own style, so our audience would want to see a Shah Rukh Khan and not Tom Cruise. Our star system has made our industry grow.” Ask Zoya to define a filmstar, and she says: “Stars pull people and no matter what the film is, they get an opening. But often stars want to cater to their audience by doing what has worked before. So you can’t make too many films with

“I don’t want a dictatorship where only an Anurag Kashyap (her filmmaker hubby) can make a film; or only a ‘dark’ filmmaker can make one kind of film. But for the longest time, that space for alternative storytelling didn’t exist in Bollywood. I think it’s happening now,” she added.

Does the actor consciously try to make herself different or anti-Bollywood? “I never concocted a plan to change the face of Indian cinema. But I was very adamant that I won’t change or mould myself to fit in... I’m only doing what I truly believe in,” said Kalki.

food,” he says. The actor, who was recently shooting in Old Delhi’s Khari Baoli for his next film Boss, shares that the people there don’t treat him like a star. “They meet Akshay the brother. Everywhere I go to shoot, people shout ‘Akshay’. Here it’s ‘Akshay bhai’. I’m not away from them, they are not away from me. It’s hard to shoot where we were shooting,

but the people are so well behaved. If I told them ki saare iss side aa jaao, I need this area to shoot, they agreed.” Akki, who is now reviving the Khiladi franchise after 12 years, says that it made his 10-year-old son Aarav happy. “He loves it when his father does action. He’s a big action fan and he only comes for shooting when I’m doing action.”

them. They want that safety and that is the problem,” she says. “In this case, Aamir Khan is a little different,” says Zoya, on her experience of working with Aamir in the recently-released film, Talaash. She co-wrote the film with director Reema Kagti, experimenting for the first time with the suspense genre. “My challenges were to keep the story engaging, give depth to the characters and focus on their emotional chord. Our audience relate to emotional quotient. So, if you don’t connect them emotionally,

they will not watch (a film),” she says. Zoya, the daughter of poetlyricist Javed Akhtar and script writer Honey Irani, has written and directed Luck By Chance (2009) and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara(2011). She says she’d like a balance of commercially viable, critically-acclaimed films. “I feel both are important. Commercial success is important. But if I make a film and it makes money, but if the audience says they didn’t like it, I will be disappointed. I want everybody to watch my films and like it,” she says.

BUSINESS NEWS
Toys and entertainment make a great Canadian success story
In the current age of recession and high unemployment, it’s rare to come across a business whose biggest problem is finding enough talented people to hire because sales keep doubling every year. But this has been the case for Kevin Richer ever since 2007, when, at the age of 27 he first launched his Wooky Entertainment toy company. Now, with the release of new product lines like Mathable—a numerical variation of the board game Scrabble—2012 is shaping up to be thebiggest year yet for this creative Montrealer. Success, however, has been anything but pure luck. Richer was born into a long line of toy manufacturers and he`d been developing new products and managing his parents’ toy company for a full decade before starting up Wooky. “ I just couldn’t imagine my parents’ business, as it was then structured, being able to follow the vision I had for a company like Wooky,” Richer says today. The all-Canadian company now produces top quality toys exclusively conceived by an in-house R&D team. Wooky employs more than30 people and its innovative approach to marketing, drives the strikingly youthful company. With the bulk of employees young enough to have only stopped playing with toys themselves recently, it’s not surprising Wooky has been able to develop lines kids can relate to. Most notably is StyleMeUp, a fashion design series for young girls that’s taken off in more than 45 that in certain regions “we see hegemony and intervention in other countries”. “Generally speaking, we are optimistic of the growing forces of peace and stability. At the same time, we must countries so far. “It’s true,” says Richer, “to successfully develop new toys you need to go back to

Australia to Begin Uranium Sales to India After Negotiations
Australia today said actual start of its uranium trade with India will depend on negotiations on the issue between the two countries. “The question is when we get to the point of actually doing it depends on the way the negotiations between the two countries develop,” Australia’s Energy Minister Martin Ferguson said speaking at the fourth Australia-India Roundtable here. His party colleague Li Keqiang will step into the shoes of Premier Wen Jiabao. Huang suggested that the two countries should have “better strategic communication and coordination” and people to people exchanges should take place. He said that in various fora, “we should work together to build a new type of international relations”. Huang pointed out that “complex changes” are taking place in the global arena. “The world is not as stable as we want...there are many issues.” He referred to the global financial crisis and also noted

The toys getting those coveted places on the shelves of the big retailers all have strong brands rooted in entertainment. So before we develop a toy we first develop the brand. That’s one reason why almost all our products have their own dedicated interactive websites.” Under Richer’s careful supervision, the Wooky R&D department has created over 200 toy products in the past three years alone. The music video of this song has been viewed by nearly a billion people on YouTube and from US flashmobs to jail inmates in the Philippines, right on to pop diva Britney Spears has shaken their booty to his moves. He’s also entered the Guinness Book of World Records title for the most liked You Tube video ever and has spent more than 10 weeks on the U.S. Billboard 100. Now, in the first ever interview to be published in India, the 34-year-old Korean singer-songwrite Park Jaesang, or PSY as he is popular called, speaks about this bewitching dance style, life after international stardom and more. The interview is part of a show that was aired on CNN. Q: What was on your mind when you made Gangnam Style? Did you perceive that it would go this big? Psy: I didn’t expect this kind of thing. I made this song - I made this music video and dance moves just for Korea, not worldwide. Q: Gangam is like the Beverly Hills of Seoul, right? Psy: Yes, so I, you know, described the district...that’s my point of view. And I

Then they’re not going to do it, right? But if people see it and, ‘Ah ha, I can do it’. And they are trying. And if people are trying, that means viral.

it’s like, ‘Wow’. Q: People don’t realise that Gangnam Style is a song on your sixth album. Psy: It was such a big pressure with the dance moves, so after (the) song’s done, me and my Korean choreographers like,

described the district as like normal and calm at the daytimes and going insane at the nighttime. So I compare all the sexy ladies to the district. That’s what the lyrics is about. Q: What did you think of the overnight success? Psy: It was, like, really touching, you know? And Gangnam Style is really a casual song. It’s not touching or moving song. I’m the writer and I didn’t make this song in that purpose. But the thing is, with the way they are doing,

Psy:Yes. Well so, to the world, this was my debut. But in Korea, it was mandatory success for sixth time. So it was like highly pressured. Especially with the dance moves. Psy: This horse dance was originally — I don’t know about other countries, but in Korea, it was really huge at the ‘80s. One day, I thought about it and my choreographer’s like — he’s like three years older than me and he knew about the dance. So, hey, why don’t we try some, classic ones like, they say, “OK, such as?” And

We are at the brink of something Manisha Koirala discharged, path-breaking: Hrithik on Krrish 3 to be treated in US
For months now, Hrithik Roshan has been keeping a low profile, as he has been concentrating on his next, Krrish 3. But the actor managed to take some time out of his packed schedule to attend the ongoing 12th edition of the International Film Festival of Marrakech in Morocco as four of his movies are being screened here this week. However, Krrish is not on that list. Confident that the franchise’s next installment will definitely find special mention on many such lists, he says, “Krrish should have been screened and it will make it here next year.” Nonetheless, the actor is thrilled that four of his other films — Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Jodha Akbar (2008), Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) and Agneepath — are being screened. “I just happened to be part of these films and I am very proud of them. It feels good,” he says. Directed and produced by father Rakesh Roshan, Krrish 3 has been kept under wraps ever since the shooting began. But as per the actor, the secrecy will all pay off once the film hits the theatres. “It’s one of the biggest challenges for Indian cinema, because the computer Actor Manisha Koirala, who was admitted to Jaslok Hospital on Wednesday night, was discharged from the hospital on Friday morning. Koirala is planning to pursue her treatment abroad, family sources said. “We are planning to go to the United States. We haven’t decided on the hospital yet. The family is still trying to figure things out,” said Mandira Koirala, the actor’s sister-in-law. The family, however, declined to comment on Koirala’s illness, adding that it was a private matter. On Thursday, Krishnakant Dasyam, spokesperson of Jaslok Hospital, had said that Koirala had undergone several medical tests and investigations but declined to comment on her illness. “Manisha was discharged from the hospital on Friday morning at 9am and she is doing fine,” Dasyam said. Shah Rukh also tweeted his picture with the medal. “Thanks for the honour and happiness. All the best for the rest of the festival,” he tweeted. REVEALED! Sunny Leone’s look in Priyanka will always be close to my heart: SRK Ragini MMS 2
Sunny Leone has always capitalised on her assets, be it in her adult movies or to heat up the screen in her Bollywood film. While her sexy image worked for Jism 2, producer Ekta Kapoor, who has signed her on for her horror film, Ragini MMS 2, wants a more demure avatar. Ekta has roped in Priyanka Chopra’s stylist, Ami Patel, to give Sunny a fresh look in the film. “Ekta wanted me to style a movie for a while now, but I wanted to work on western looks. So, when Ragini MMS 2 came up, she asked me again and I’d be happy to take it up,” says Ami. Not willing to disclose Ekta’s exact brief for Sunny, Ami says, “Her look will be a surprise as it’s not how Sunny usually is. While in Jism 2 she was in-your-face sexy, this time her look will be toned down. It will have a lot of style with a classy, sexy touch and will be glamorous, somewhat like a Hollywood look.” Though Ami hasn’t met Sunny yet, she has done some research about her style quotient. “Sunny is a stylish person and enjoys fashion. She has an inherent sex appeal and I want to let that shine Those who felt that actor Shah Rukh didn’t support Priyanka Chopra when she was cornered by sections of Bollywood following their alleged affair, can take heart. At a recent event SRK not only defended Priyanka but admitted that she was treated unfairly. The actor was speaking to CNN IBN recently when he said, “(I) Feel extremely sorry, for she (Priyanka) wasn’t shown the respect I show her, or other women. Priyanka Chopra is one of the closest friends that I have, she is very close to my heart, and always will be.” A fan of Priyanka who was present at the meet cut a CD of the interview and sent it to Priyanka, who is currently busy shooting for Zanjeer in Hyderabad. “She was touched by the fan’s gesture,” said a source close to her. While saying that Priyanka was not shown respect, SRK may have been referring to a tweet by his friend, filmmaker Karan Johar, in which he had taken on Priyanka following an article, that quoted an anonymous friend of Priyanka’s saying

Sonakshi Sinha doesn’t regret doing ‘Joker’
After back-to-back hits with “Dabangg” and “Rowdy Rathore”, actress Sonakshi Sinha’s third film “Joker” failed to set the cash registers ringing but the actress has no regrets. “I don’t regret doing ‘Joker’. I signed ‘Joker’ after the success of ‘Dabangg’ so it was my second film. For a newcomer like me to get an opportunity to work with Akshay Kumar was like an icing on the cake,” said Sonakshi. “While I was shooting for ‘Joker’, Akshay approached me for ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and that’s how things fell in place. So I am glad I did ‘Joker’,” she added. The actress is currently riding high on the success of “Son Of Sardaar”, featuring Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt. Asked how does she get down to choosing scripts, Sonakshi said, “I choose films that appeal to me. I would spend money and watch the film only if I like it. For me it should be entertaining.” Meanwhile, Sonakshi’s new film “Dabangg 2″ is set for Dec

We are professional on the sets: Arbaaz Khan
With Arbaaz Khan directing the film and Salman Khan acting in it, “Dabangg 2″ seems to be a family film. But the atmosphere on the sets is completely professional, says the director. “It is comfortable. When you work with your family members, it becomes a very homely atmosphere. But in spite of this, we work professionally,” he said. “On the set, Salman Khan is a big star and I am a debutant director. He expects me to be at my best and I, as a first time director, expect him to give me all his expertise. We agree on many things and disagree on many. We debate, which is sometimes a discussion and sometimes an argument,” he added. “Dabangg 2″ is the sequel to the 2010 blockbuster film “Dabangg”. Salman and Arbaaz’s father Salim Khan is looking into the distribution of the film, which releases Dec 21. But does having a star like Salman and a franchise like “Dabangg” make Arbaaz confident of good collections? “Collections take care of themselves if you make a good film. by International Yousuf not to be considered for Suspended India tour: Pakistan chief selector Olympic Committee, India faces
Senior Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf’s Twenty20 and ODI career appears to be over after chief selector Iqbal Qasim made it clear that he would not be considered for the tour of India. “Yousuf is not under consideration for the tour to India,” Qasim told reporters when asked about the selection process for the coming tour that includes two T20 matches and three one-day internationals. “As far as Yousuf is concerned we are not sure about his form and fitness right now and he will not be considered for the Indian tour,” the former Test spinner said. Yousuf has not played any first-class cricket since mid last year and was recently named to lead the Lahore Lions side in the ongoing national T20 championship. But before the first match, Yousuf pulled out of captaincy in favour of Pakistan’s T20 captain Mohammad Hafeez and after the first game for Lahore, has not played in the next two matches. ban from Olympics
The India Olympic Association’s suspension from the Olympic movement will have far-reaching consequences . The IOA will no longer get funds from IOC and the officials will not be invited by the IOC to attend its events like the Olympics and Paralympics. The Indian athletes will not be allowed to compete under the tricolour but could be permitted to compete under the IOC flag. The Olympic Council of Asia and the Commonwealth Games Federation are also expected to follow suit, which will result in similar sanctions as far as the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games are concerned. The IOC had been threatening —in a series of letters in the past few days to slap sanctions on India for following the government’s Sports Code in the IOA elections, which the international body insists is against the Olympic charter. The adherence to the Sports Code has been interpreted as “government interference in the Olympic movement” by the IOC. The suspension came just a day before the IOA elections, which top IOA officials said would go ahead as per schedule . IOA is holding the elections on the directive of the Delhi high court which has asked the sports body to conduct the

Like MS Dhoni, Cook prefers a turner
Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s continued demand for turning tracks may have raised a ruckus, but the Indian skipper found resonance from the his choice of surface despite the defeat in Mumbai. Cook, of course, exuded the confidence of a captain who had conquered the opposition in its own den.

writing on the wall and would now try to play in some first class matches before the tour to South Africa that begins from January 22. “He will now take a final shot at a recall to the national team for the Tests in South Africa,” one source said. “That is why he is not playing in the national T20 event and wants to give the younger players a chance in the event,” he added.

Qasim said the best T20 and ODI squads would be announced for the Indian tour which was very important for the national team. “We have two tough tours coming up and we need to do well in India as we have the gruelling tour of South Africa ahead of us. Definitely we are looking at the fast bowling resources available to us for both tours,” the chief selector stated.

polls as per its own constitution as well as the Sports Code. “We are going ahead with the elections. We are yet to receive any official communication from the IOC. Let us get that first, which we will place before IOA’s AGM tomorrow,” IOA acting president Vijay Malhotra told TOI. IOC took the decision after it snubbed IOA’s bid to send a two-member delegation to explain its position. IOA’s incoming president Abhey Singh Chautala termed the decision as “one-sided” . “IOA has sent a letter to IOC regarding sending two officials to discuss the issue . There was no response from IOC. This is a one-sided decision,” he told reporters. It has been learnt that IOC member in India, Randhir Singh, did not attend the meeting in Lausanne since the members of countries

which are facing sanctions are usually asked to stay away from the meeting. That the suspension was imminent was evident from the development in the run-up to the elections. After a series of letters asking IOA to follow the Olympic charter, the IOC gave the first warning of suspension on November 23. Another warning came five days ago. Interestingly, IOC’s decision has been welcomed by some former and current sportspersons who feel it presents an opportunity to cleanse the mess in IOA. “As a patriotic sportsperson, this is the most embarrassing moment for me,” shooter Moraad Ali Khan told TOI. “However, given the mess in Indian sports in the last few years, this could be the best thing to happen.” Sports minister Jitendra Singh termed the IOC’s move as an “unfortunate decision” .

most unlikely quarters — the opposing skipper. No, Alastair Cook hasn’t joined the ‘spin’s the way’ campaign, but he would rather have a turner than a turn-off. “Mumbai gave us a great chance of winning because it was a result wicket. On the very flat ones, it’s very hard to get a result. Mumbai proved with a turning track that it gives both sides a chance to win,” the England skipper said almost on the heels of his Indian counterpart defending

“You have to stick to your strengths,” Dhoni had declared. “When you come to India you want to play on the turning tracks. Yes, we lost a game but irrespective of the results, we want to play on wickets that have subcontinent conditions. That’s what home advantage is all about,” added Dhoni, brushing aside thoughts of a rethink after the Mumbai debacle. Actor-producer Arbaaz Khan will soon make his debut as a director with the release of his next production, Dabangg 2, on December 21. The promos of the Salman Khan-starrer have been received well. But a certain rumour about the actor having ghost-directed the film has irked Arbaaz. “It’s all rubbish,” says the first-time director. “Salman has to do his work — acting, fighting and dancing. Will he do that or will he direct? We make too much out of the fact that he has suggestions. He has his take on how he wants to do scenes, which is fair.” According to Arbaaz, every actor gives suggestions when they’re shooting. And he feels there’s no harm in hearing what they have to say. “There’s no ego here. The film is being made because Salman is starring in it, so if he suggests something, I do consider it,” says Arbaaz. Do such aspersions bother him? “No. They would matter if there was any truth to them. Many directors face this situation,” says Arbaaz, adding

If it’s pointed toward the house, then I nail it in!”The second blonde got completely upset and yelled, “You moron! The nails pointed toward you aren’t defective! When those snakes crawled over me, I didn’t make a sound. When that bear was breathing down my neck, I didn’t make a peep. But when those two chipmunks crawled up my pants leg and said, ‘Should we take them with us or eat them here?’ I couldn’t keep quiet any more!” A big-game hunter went on safari with his wife and mother-in-law. One evening, while still deep in the jungle, the Mrs awoke to find her mother gone. Rushing to her husband, she insisted on them both trying to find her mother. The hunter picked up his rifle, took a swig of whiskey, and started to look for her. In a clearing not far from the camp, they came upon a chilling sight: the mother-inlaw was backed up against a thick, impenetrable bush, and a large male lion stood facing her. The wife cried, “What are we going to do?” “Nothing,” said the hunter husband. “The lion got himself into this mess, let him get himself out of it.”

Actress Shonali Sharma injures herself while shooting an action scene
Tamil film star Shonali Sharma injured herself on Saturday while shooting for an action scene for her Tamil project on the outskirts of Chennai. She was practicing some motorbike stunts on her own and in spite of the fact that her director wanted a professional body double to handle the stunts, Shonali Sharma who is a good biker, insisted on doing the stunts herself without a body double. Unfortunately, while performing a tricky stunt, she lost her balance and fell and the bike skidded for over 200 meters. The soft dirt cushioned the fall and thankfully Shonali Sharma was wearing protective clothing which kept the damage and injuries to the minimum. Shonali was hospitalized and the shooting of the film has been stalled by two weeks, till she is fit to fight again. Recently, actress Shonali Sharma who recently signed a big banner Tamil film had to bear the ire of locals while shooting for a song sequence for the same project. The title song which has lyrics like “tokri ke peeche” is a bi-lingual track and is a parody on the famous Choli ke peeche song from the movie Khalnayak. It also has a few double meaning phrases that can be construed or interpreted to be an insult to the Tambram or Tamil Brahim community. The music of the song is somewhat similar to the infamous Kolaveri Di track and the lyrics mention the phrases “Sheila Ki Jawani aur Munni Ki Badnami”. Shonali Sharma plays the lead in the film, the title of which has not yet been revealed.

While shooting for the song on the outskirts of Pondicherry, actress Shonali Sharma and the unit were attacked by local hooligans who demanded that the shooting be stalled and the lyrics changed. The movie which is produced

Ask The Expert Get a grip on sensitive teeth
What do you do when a healthy smile needs more than basic brushing? Dr. Jordan Appel, a Toronto-based dentist, answers some of the most pressing questions. Dear Dentist: Occasionally I find I get a strong, sharp pain in my teeth. It’s worst when there is a cold wind or I have hot drinks like coffee. A friend suggested switching to a sensitivity toothpaste, but I’m not sure because I don’t want to give up on things like breath freshening, plaque removal, cavity protection or whitening. What’s a girl to do? Sincerely, Ms Sensitive Dear Ms Sensitive: You’re not alone in your sensitive situation. In fact, 44% of Canadians suffer from tooth sensitivity and it’s one of the most common complaints I hear from patients. While it can be triggered by cold or hot food and drinks, as well as sweets, sours and cold air, there are lots of things you can do to help prevent it. Sensitivity can also be prevented by keeping the gums from receding by using soft toothbrushes and applying a

moderate amount of pressure when brushing. Brushing too strenuously can damage teeth and gums, so being gentler is an important step. When you brush, also choose a toothpaste specially formulated for sensitivity, like Sensodyne iso-active. This new type of Sensodyne toothpaste is a great solution for anyone who suffers from even mild tooth sensitivity. With twice the

foam of regular toothpaste, it penetrates hard to reach places, plus it has the benefits of cavity protection and plaque removal with brushing, and it comes in a gentle whitening formula. You don’t have to compromise and you can prevent the cringing from sensitivity. Lastly, make sure to visit your dentist at least twice a year so that you can catch any dental issues as early as possible.

Ask this question to a Britisher, which is your favourite Indian snack? Even before you’ve finished asking, the reply will be Onion Bhajis. And if you could offer them home-made Onion Bhajis with the Red Sauce served in most Indian restaurants in UK, then there’s no looking back. You’d surely be elevated as the best cook! This is not just the case in UK, back home in Mumbai or Kolkata the first choice of an evening snack to me and my friends were undoubtedly Onion Bhaji. This humble snack has created ripples were-ever it’s traveled, from a roadside hawker in the Indian metropolis Mumbai to the highend British Indian restaurants, Onion Bhajji is Number One. Today it is my turn. Let me make some. It is very similar to the ones available at these roadside hawkers, but home-made. Things You’ll Need

HELPFUL TIP: Kids always seem to be hungry, especially when they come home from school. Try offering homemade healthy snacks or a bowl of fruit, nuts instead of chocolate and cookies NOTES: *Do not drop to many at a times, as it will drop the temperature of the Oil and will increase the cooking time. This will make the Onion Bhaji absorb more oil, making it greasy. At the same time do not forget to lower the flame, if oil is to hot or else you will end up in burnt Bhajji

Mallika Sherawat’s Malibu break Indefinite delay for Preity with pals! Zinta’s next!
From tea dates with Barack Obama in Los Angeles, to partying with Hollywood’s A-listers, Mallika Sherawat surely likes to keep tabs on the international circuit. What’s more, the Haryanvi lass is now claiming to be a globetrotter. We just got hold of pictures of the actor, partying in Malibu on a yacht with a few close friends. A source close to the actor says, “Yes, Mallika recently spent the weekend on her friends’ yacht in Malibu. We don’t know who all were present, but she seems to have had a great time partying with her friends and their families. One of her close pals, Helene, came down from Paris especially to join her.” Mallika’s younger brother Vikram, who was visiting her in Los Angeles, was also spotted on the boat. The actor is apparently taking a break from her hectic schedule, and had been looking forward to the holiday for a long time. “This is probably the first time she has taken a break after the release of Kismet Love Paisa Dilli. Once she’s back to India in December, she will start Preity Zinta’s Ishkq In Paris (IIP) seems to be jinxed. Initially, it was supposed to release on September 21 alongside Heroine and English Vinglish. However, Madhur Bhandarkar’s film and IIP postponed their release date to October 5. While the Kareena Kapoor-starrer hit the theatres on that date, Preity’s film was again pushed further. Matters only worsened when the film’s director, Prem Soni, was diagnosed with cancer in the last week of October. A few days after that, Preity announced that the film would only release once the director is in a condition to complete the post-production work. As a result, IIP did not release on November 2 either. “Prem’s diagnosis was a huge blow, which is why PZ had to announce an indefinite delay,” says a source. The film’s troubles did not end here. After months of looking for a distributor, Ponty Chadha bought the rights to IIP. Unfortunately, the veteran too lost his life in a violent shootout

on November 17. “Sohail Khan is handling the distribution. He was only able to rope Ponty in on a commission basis after having several discussions with him,” says an insider. “Ponty was going to distribute it in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan, but now the makers will have to find another distributor. It has no takers in Mumbai too.” Ishq In Paris has been jointly produced by Preity Zinta and Aakash Arora, an NRI who has invested in the project. The actor is yet to make a statement

on the release. As of now, her ‘comeback film’ has been indefinitely delayed.
