Title:
“New Perspective on Cancer: Uncommon factors to consider in treating cancer.”
AANP Oral Presentation Abstract—90 minutes preferred.

Brief Description:
A new approach is needed to identify why cancer is developing rather than fighting the already developed
cancer. In my 20 years of experience, every patient has had deficiencies, organ dysfunction, heavy metal
and/or environmental toxicities. Comprehensive, foundational laboratory testing can make the difference
in successful management and treatment of cancer.

Abstract:
A new approach is needed to identify why cancer is developing in the first place rather than fighting the
already developed cancer. In my 20 years of experience, every patient has had deficiencies, organ
dysfunction, heavy metal and/or environmental toxicities. Comprehensive, foundational laboratory
testing can make the difference in successful management and treatment of cancer.
It is necessary to treat the deficiencies, dysfunctions and heavy metal and/or environmental toxicities as
opposed to simply throwing pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals at the already developed cancer.
Identifying these problems, providing the proper nutritional support to build and restore the body in
addition to stimulating the immune system has resulted in consistently superior results in treating patients
with cancer. During this lecture several cases will be presented, outlining some of the most extreme, even
end stage cases that have responded well to this model.
Learning objectives: proper lab tests including tumor markers for various cancers and heavy metal and
environment testing will be reviewed. Treatment protocols will be given based on previous case studies
and current literature. Learn how to identify, test and retest to verify results and guide the course of
treatment. Special dietary recommendations will also be given. All treatments will be natural products
without the use of pharmaceutical drugs. The audience is for the progressive doctor who wants to help
his patients more.
Special case studies on breast, kidney and liver cancer will be presented.

Bio Sketch:
During his twenty-five plus years of practice, Dr. Merkle developed a large practice focusing on nutrition,
laboratory analysis, objective testing and developing case studies for documentation. He established a
system to easily and consistently analyze blood, hair, urine and other objective tests which allowed for
continued growth in his practice with dramatically increased productivity and consistent results.
This innovative practice and his unusually good results obtained from his treatment methods initiated his
CEU lecture tours and invitations to speak at several chiropractic colleges and nutritional seminars.
Among them, the Wright State Medical symposium in 2008 and the Nutrition Diplomate Lecture, 14
‘Laboratory Diagnosis’, Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2007.
For 14 years he has hosted a live call in radio show, Back To Health: Your Guide To Better Living on
1290 am WHIO, 95.7 fm and has co-hosted Natural Foods Plus on 1210 am WDAO for 12 years.
His mission is to provide education, methods and resources for those doctors considering adding nutrition
to their practice in an efficient, practical and profitable manner.
