The report is based on Management practice At Beximco Ltd: A Review of strategic Management’. The purpose of this report is to understand how the management function of each of the sister concern of Beximco Limited are being determined and to identify the responsibility of each level managers to reach to the goal. The history of the company dates back to the early 70s. Since the very beginning, the company was highly successful in generating increased demand for its products which eventually justified local production. With the passage of time it has launched several companies, such as: Textile, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, media, ICT, marine, Aviation and energy. Beximco follow a linear management structure for all of its concern. Each and every sister concern has its own MD. The company is operating through a well defined management structure headed by a Managing Director (MD) under whom there are senior managers for various departments and according to hierarchy, various senior and mid level management staffs. The Managing Director and the senior management at regular interval represented also administration, finance, marketing, and production head. Origin of the Report As we are the students of 12th semester of BBA program of East West University have to undertake MGT-480 (Strategic Management) as a requirement of academic curriculum. As the classroom discussion alone cannot make students to know about the real life situation, therefore it is an opportunity for the students to know about the practical environment of the real business world through this program. The student is then required to carry out an extensive analysis of real world business problem and thereby prepare a report on the solution to the problem. In relation to that we have been assigned a report on “Beximco Ltd”. Objective of the Report The objective of the report is classified into two sections: 1. Primary objective: The academic objective of this report is to fulfill a partial requirement of BBA program. 2. Secondary objective: To gather knowledge about the origin of Beximco Ltd. To gather knowledge about the time-line and sister concerns of Beximco Ltd. To gather some practical knowledge about Beximco Ltd. and its management system. Scope During these three months period, we worked at the Accounts Department. So, we acquired knowledge in these departments and my report is based on especially in Management System. The report covered organizational overview, management and organizational structure and overall Management System of Beximco Limited. Here the scope is as follows:

Limitations Despite the diligent efforts that have given in preparation of this report, we have only succeeded to skin the surface of the ocean of the subject. Therefore the views expressed in this report are likely to be limited by the lack of extensive knowledge and understanding. We have got just the overall idea about the Beximco Ltd and its sister concerns. We couldn’t get access to all the departments. The board of director of parent company follows same management structure for its entire sister concern and set vision, mission and objective for them. Each and every sister concern has its own MD. The company is operating through a well defined management structure headed by a Managing Director (MD) under whom there are senior managers for various departments and according to hierarchy, various senior and mid level management staffs. The Managing Director and the senior management at regular interval represented also administration; finance, marketing, and production head.MD are responsible to interpret the goals and objective to the mid level managers. The mid level manages set the operational goals to the functional managers.

Beximco’s Board of Director consists of 5 directors, one vice chairman & a chairman. This board of director manages the whole function of the company. An MD is recruited for each of the sister concern by the board, who are excluded of the board of director. The decision regarding the group of companies corporate strategies taken by the board. Corporate Level Strategy: In corporate level, the deputy director of Beximco Limited Company interpret overall company mission, vision and objective to the CEO assigned for each of the sister concern to deliver it to the business level unit such as the directors. Business Level Strategy: In business level, the CEO of each sister concern interpret company mission, vision and objective to the directors assigned for each of the sister concern to deliver it to the functional level unit. Functional Level Strategy: In functional level, the head of each department of sister concern interpret company mission, vision and objective to the employees assigned to perform to archive ultimate goal. Operational Level Strategy: Different functional departments are interlinked among themselves to mange strategies taken to reach to company’s final destination according to the vision and mission, such as the marketing department with accounting department. Talent Sharing: BEXTRADE Limited is a sister concern of BEXIMCO Group – the largest Industrial Conglomerate of Bangladesh. Mr.Mustaque Ahmed, the Managing Director of BEXTRADE Limited is well known in the Aviation, Shipping and Freight Forwarding market in Bangladesh for more than a decade. His experience started with promoting professional Air Cargo services from Bangladesh and received many highest awards by various carriers like Gulf Air, Saudia, British Airways, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, etc. Mr. Ahmed is also the Managing Director of ‘Trade Clippers Cargo Ltd.’(TCCL). TCCL is one of the leading forwarding companies in Bangladesh and also belong to BEXIMCO Group.
