Preparing for Gods Word PRELUDE: Go Tell It on the Mountain Traditional Spiritual CALL TO WORSHIP Isaiah 9:2, John 8:12, John 1:14 The people walked in darkness, have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined! Jesus said, I am the Light of the world; The one who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life! For the Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us, full of grace and truth; For Jesus was the WORD, and in Him was LIFE, and the Life was the LIGHT of the WORLD ! And the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never overcome it ! *HYMN #182G O Come, All Ye Faithful Lighting the NATIVITY Candle Prayer of Adoration (Unison) We give thanks, O God, during this past Season of Advent: for the presence of family and friends, for the cheer of the candles and colored lights, and for the joys of giving and receiving. But we especially thank You this night for Your Love as expressed in the birth of Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ; for He is our model for this life, and our Hope for the one to come! Amen ! Away in a Manger What Child Is This?

THE LIGHT of the WORLD (Genesis 1: 1-4, John 1: 1-5, Ephesians 5: 8-14) Candlelight Hymn: Silent Night, Holy Night (seated) Silent Night, Holy Night, All is calm, All is bright Round yon virgin mother & child. Holy Infant so tender and mild, Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly Peace! Silent Night, Holy Night, Shepherds quake at the sight. Glories stream from heaven afar; Heavenly host sing Al-le-lu-ia. Christ the Savior is born! Christ the Savior is born! *CHRISTMAS EVE PRAYER (Unison, please stand) Good and gracious God: one Silent Night You gave us Your Son, the Lord of the universe, wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, the Savior of all, lying in a manger. On this Holy Night, draw each one of us into the same mystery of Your love, as parents Mary and Joseph knew. Join our joyful voices with the angelic heavenly chorus that we too may sing your glory on high! Give us a place among the lonely shepherds and 3 eccentric Kings, the loving parents and the inns guests, that we too may find the One prophesied from of old, whom we too have waited for: Jesus Christ, our Messiah and Lord as well; who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever more. Amen!

Christ our Savior is born! *BENEDICTION POSTLUDE: Join the Triumph of the Skies Mendelssohn-Wade (You are encouraged to quietly but reverently return to your home)
