FROM THE IDEAL VISION TO THE PERFECT SOLUTION
Lend Lease Group Head Office Level 4, 30 The Bond 30 Hickson Road Millers Point NSW 2000 Australia
At Lend Lease, we work with communities, clients and our colleagues to create positive legacies – from funding and managing projects and properties, right though to designing, developing and constructing state of the art precincts, buildings and infrastructure, including hospitals, roads and rail. We also create vibrant residential communities, productive workspaces and retail destinations.
“Companies must start justifying their worth to society, with greater emphasis placed on environmental and social impact rather than straight economics.”
This approach to business underpins everything we touch, and can be seen in nearly everything we do the world over. We’re not just in the business of property and infrastructure. We’re in the business of creating positive legacies. For everybody involved – our clients, partners, and the people living in or using our places and spaces every day. This is how we create a future built on sustainable practices and lasting relationships.
ONE HUNDRED FLOORS ONE MILLION STORIES
– Dick Dusseldorp, Founder of Lend Lease, 1973. Every single member of our team believes in improving our environment, health and safety practices, making a difference to our communities and reducing our environmental impact. Tomorrow is an exciting chapter, beginning right now.
EVERY DAY, OVER A MILLION PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD LIVE, WORK OR SHOP IN AN ASSET CREATED BY LEND LEASE
PUTTING OUR PEOPLE FIRST
We will never compromise on safety and continually drive best practice and innovation internally. We also recognise and reward those who are leading our journey towards being Incident & Injury Free. UNCOMPROMISING LEADERSHIP To make our Incident & Injury Free vision a reality, we rely not only on having strong safety operating disciplines, but also on the positive behaviours of our people. Our uncompromising leadership approach is embedded across the group. We behave and operate in a manner which ensures we never compromise on safety. SAFETY IN PERFORMANCE Since the introduction of our revised Global Minimum Requirements in 2007, safety performance has improved considerably. We can now see some positive trends including: Substantial decrease in the number of incidents involving ‘fall of person’. The circumstance most responsible for serious and fatal incidents. A year on year decrease in Lost Time Incident Frequency Rates (LTIFR) which means fewer injuries and greater productivity.
Lend Lease is committed to operating Incident & Injury Free wherever we have a presence. So it’s no surprise that safety is always front of mind in everything we do.
IT IS THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT OF EVERY HUMAN BEING TO WORK WITHOUT FEAR OF INJURY AND RETURN HOME SAFELY

Performance is our biggest motivator. And it’s measured in many forms.
Beyond a doubt, increases in financial returns and asset values are critical to all stakeholders. We had a strong year in 2012 with operating profit after tax of A$507 million. We have maintained a strong financial position which enables us to fund our development pipeline and invest in new strategic opportunities. Equally though, performance is about the talents of our people and what value and expertise they can offer our clients. Our world-class reputation is built on world-class performances and we bring this commitment to all projects, big and small. We deliver on our promises and we’re always looking for a better way.

INDIVIDUAL EFFORTS, UNITED FORCE
A particularly rewarding aspect of being an international company is witnessing the collaborative efforts of our people.
Our talented people bring their global experience to local communities all over the world. Outside our immediate team, we value our ongoing relationships with local communities and governing bodies. They demonstrate our spirit of open collaboration and show that a true team effort is hugely rewarding for everyone involved, having a tangible positive impact on our communities. BeOnsite, UK We’re proud of our economically sustainable, not for profit organisation, BeOnsite in the UK. It addresses skill shortages in the construction industry by providing on-the-job, employer-led training. Helping link local people to construction and retail employment. MILLERS POINT YOUTH & EMPLOYMENT PARTNERSHIP (MPYEP), SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA We helped facilitate this unique, community-inspired public and private partnership in November 2003. With 13 diverse parties involved, it was developed out of recognition that more could be achieved for the young people of the area and their families through acting collaboratively, creating a sustainable, positive and progressive community.

ON POSITIVE LEGACIES
FIRST IMPRESSIONS, LASTING LEGACIES
Since the beginning, sustainability has been at the heart of everything we do.
Our projects have a lasting impact on the people and places around them. To make things better than they were. To inspire communities. Help shape skylines. And lead the way in sustainable designs. We are founding members of green building councils in the USA, UK, UAE, Argentina and Australia and have assisted with the establishment of green building councils in Spain, Romania, Netherlands, Poland, Italy, China, Malaysia, New Zealand and South Africa. And recently, we were ranked sixth in the 60 Best Green Companies 2011 in the EMEA region. We aim to build sustainable and green initiatives into every project. Sustainability has always defined the way Lend Lease does business. We consider the environmental, social, ethical and financial impacts of every decision we make. We strive to do meaningful work that protects our natural environment, supports responsible economic growth and improves the quality of people’s lives.
IN 2001 LEND LEASE WAS THE FIRST AUSTRALIAN PROPERTY COMPANY TO BE INCLUDED ON THE DOW JONES SUSTAINABILITY WORLD INDEX. AND, WE’VE BEEN INCLUDED NINE OF THE LAST 10 YEARS.
POSITIVE LEGACIES: SUSTAINABILITY
FROM OLD BUILDINGS TO GREEN BUILDINGS
Sustainability is woven into all of our projects, whether it is the creation of ground breaking, green buildings, or the refurbishment of existing buildings.
Incredibly, 80 per cent of the buildings that will exist in 2030 are already standing today, highlighting the critical importance of ‘greening’ these old buildings to reduce their environmental impact for the future. 30 The Bond in Sydney, Australia is a shining example of environmental sustainability in a new building design. Incorporating features like natural ventilation, passive chilled beam cooling and fully operable shading on the facades, The Bond has lowered CO2 emissions by 30 per cent compared to typical office buildings. It was the first office building in Australia to be accredited 5 stars ‘As Built’ under the Australian Building Greenhouse Rating system. HM Treasury Building, Whitehall London involved a sensitive restoration of this 100 year-old famous building. We were responsible for the transformation, turning Victorian era corridors and cellular offices into a 21st century office design, while staying true to the architectural heritage. Maximising space and energy efficiency won this building a BREEAM Excellent rating, the UK green building certification. SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES Leading the Australian industry with the number of ‘as built’ green buildings Proud builder of the US military’s first Zero Energy homes First Green Lease launch in Singapore at 313@somerset Created the world’s first Excellent ‘BREEAMs’ communities in the UK The establishment in 2011 of a dedicated inhouse sustainability advisory practice, Sustainability Solutions

POSITIVE LEGACIES: URBAN REGENERATION
Our designs revolve around people and how we can enhance their lives in a positive way.
We’re helping shape cities, regenerating urban spaces and setting new benchmarks in community creation. With a commitment to sustainable investment, design and technologies, our urban regeneration projects are leading the way. One such creation is Barangaroo South. A ‘once in 200 year’ opportunity to create a new harbourfront community for Sydney, Australia. We’re working in partnership with the New South Wales Government to regenerate 22 hectares of industrial land to create harbour walkways and a dynamic extension of the city. It will be one of the greenest residential, leisure and business centres in the world. It’s this fresh, forward thinking that’s leading the charge for a better tomorrow.
