REACTIVE POWER CONTROLLER

A-GENERAL Electric Motors, machines, transformers reactive coils and similar appliances that work electrodinamic principles, pull not only the neccessary current but also magnetization current from the electrical system. The magnetization current has an inductive character, and pulls from the systems, in order to build magnetic field and releases through the system when the magnetic field disappears. This means additional electricity energy flows between source and the load. This is called Reactive Power. In order to provide this extra energy demand, energy should be produced in the electricity plants and carried out through the electricity lines. This causes, not only unnecassary electricity consumption and over-load of the electricity lines, but also more investment in electrical installations and production in macro and micro ways. As we do not able to utilize the active power efficiently, the best way is to provide thie reactive energy from the point of consumptions, where the loads are located. Compensation means to equilaze the inductivepower with capacitive power (by using power capacitors.) As consumers need variates, capacitive power should be produced as much as needed for the constant loads of consumers fixed capasitors can be connected and used, this is called as fixed compensation. However in electricity systems, generally there are many loads that works in variable times and with variable power factors. In order to provide this fluctuating capacitive reactive power need, power capacitors are used with an equipment that controls the power factor ( Reactive Power Regulators),this equipment utilizes from capacitors as much as needed. This procedure is named as Automatic Compensation which is done by Reactive Power Regulators by using Power Capasitors. KRK Power Regulators are for Automatic compensation

* Easy Adjustment (just Cos and c/k adjustment is enough) * KRG Power factor controllers work with First to Last in and First to Last out principle and reaches target Cos C/k: User can adjust the system to begin the Compensation ==================================================

KRK
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before the first use please refer to the use of reactive PCsection
To Determine C/k value :C/k value is minumum reactive power value that determines the Reactive Power Controller begins to work. C/k value is also proportional to the value of first capacitors groups capacitive power. C/k value is the ratio of first capasitor group power to Cts Current transform value. First Step Capacitors Power : This can be found by dividing Qc value that calculated above to steps. For example need of reactive power is 50 kvar and steps are 10 than first capacitor power should be 50/10=5 kvar. And if the systems C/T ratio is than c/k value is 5/100=0,05. Target cos :Show systems Reactive Power structure can be adjusted by user between 0,85...0,99. Automatic Set : When user adjusts a value RPC sets the value automatically in 5 seconds and begins to compensate. Measuring Current : In AUTO Mode to measure the C/T output current. Aim to measure C/T output current is to guarantee that C/T ratio is right to prevent RPC work in incorrect basis. Measuring Voltage : By pressing + in AUTO mode, to measure the voltage of the line as voltmeter. Reset : To initilize the system both + and - buttons are pressed together compensation restarts.

B - DESCRIPTION OF THE DISPLAY AND BUTTONS ON THE CONTROLLER

To increase the value, and (in AUTO mode) to measure the Voltage of the line as voltmeter (-) To decrease the value, and (in AUTO mode) to measure the C/T output current of the line as Ampermeter ( Reset ) In normal mode in order to initialize the system push both + and - buttons Together (Cos-C/k-Man-Auto)Manual mode (to control the system in manual mode), Automatic (normal position)Cos or C/k adjustment mode selection
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(+)

( C1....C12 ) :Shows which capacitors are in use (A) :Alarm ( Cos ) :Cos Adjustment mode (C/k) :C/k Adjustment mode ( Man.) :Manual Working mode (+C ) :Shows RPC switches the capacitors on (-C ) :Shows RPC switches the capacitors off No current :There is no current Rev. Current :There is reverse current Over voltage :Over voltage error KRG series have 3 digit displays. In normal mode first digit shows system reactive structure (inductive or capacitive) other digits show the power factor. In ampermeter and voltmeter modes all three digits show current or voltage values. When the error leds on you see the --- signs on display.

D - USE OF RPC.
Adjusting the Cos value: By pressing button cos mode is choosen and cos led becomes on .User can adjust the systems power factor by pressing + or -. If no new value entered for 5 sec. RPC saves the last value and begins to compansation. Adjusting c/k value : By pressing button 2 times to C/k mode is choosen and C/k led becomes on. User can adjust C/k value by pressing + or -.If no new value entered for 5 sec. RPC saves the last value and begins to compansation. Manual Control of the steps( manuel mode) : By pressing button 3 times manual mode led becomes on.Steps are controlled by +, - buttons. In this mode user can check the capacitors value. Automatic Mode ( Normal Mode ):This is normal working mode of the RPC. Measuring the voltage and the current :By pressing + in AUTO mode, RPC shows voltage of the line as voltmeter; by pressing - in AUTO mode, RPC shows the output current of the CT. Reset : In normal mode in order to initialize the systems; both + and - buttons are pushed. This will make RPC reset . And compensation begins from beginning.

C-TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
* Stepping Delay:Stepping delay in order to on or off the capacitors is 10 seconds to on and 3 seconds to off as factory default. This value can be changed according to your request * First to last IN and first to last OUT principle minumum value of Reactive power will be first capacitor. Switching sequence in always from the first step to the last one in both ON and OFF modes. * Over Voltage :RPC when supply voltage exceeds 250V AC and this continues 5 sec. user is warned by over voltage led and RPC continues the compensation * Capacitor Steps:Capacitors that will connect to the RPC will be from minumum value to the biggers and ratio should be according to the table below. For stepping choices please refer to the table

E - WORKING OF THE RPC.

KRG Reactive Power Controller : Works with first to last IN and first to last OUT principle to reach adjusted Cos on the basis of adjusted Cos and c/k values. To set up a Appropriate Compensated system 1. Loads of all 3 phases should be equally distributed as Capasitor groups affect 3 phases equally. 2. Reactive Power Controllers Current Transformers ration should be .../5A 3. Reactive Power Controllers power and Current Transformer should be on the same line with Reactive Power Conroller. 4. After RPCs all connections are properly connected; Cos value should be adjusted as calculated. 5. Capacitors should be connected from the smallest value to the biggest capasitors.
