Dosage and Administration: Tablets: (preferably at bedtime) Adult: 2 tablets (maximum dose: 4 tablets two times a day) Children above 60 lbs (27.27kg): one tablet (Maximum dose: 2 tablets two times a day) Granules: Adult: 1 teaspoonful (maximum dose: 2 teaspoonsful twice a day) Children above 60 lbs (27.27kg): one-half teaspoonful (maximum dose: 1 teaspoonful twice a day) Dosage can be adjusted to meet individual requirements. If comfortable bowel movement is not achieved by the second day, increase recommended dose by one tablet (up to maximum dosage) or decrease until the most effective dose is established. In granules, decrease or incrase dose by one-half teaspoonful (up to maximum dosage). Indication of Clexane:

Clexane is a medicine that is used to treat blood clots, or stop clots from forming inside the body. Clexane is commonly used to prevent clotting after an operation such as a hip replacement, or in certain heart conditions. ^ top

Action of Clexane:
Clexane works by preventing certain molecules in the blood called clotting factors from working. Clotting factors are needed to from a clot (eg. on a cut or scratch). Sometimes, however, blood clots can form inside the body and travel to areas such as the lungs or brain, where they can from a block. When this happens it is difficult for blood to circulate properly, and the clot may cause severe illness. ^ top

Clexane comes as an injection. Your doctor or nurse will normally give this to you. Clexane is usually injected under the skin of the abdominal (belly) area. In some cases your doctor may show you how to inject yourself with Clexane. You should not attempt to inject yourself with Clexane unless your doctor has shown you how to do this. Clexane is sometimes given to women who are pregnant; your doctor will discuss this with you. Clexane is aPregnancy Category C medicine.
