DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR EARTH HOUR SOCIAL MOBILIZATION WONDERS

I. What is Earth Hour? Earth Hour is the largest ground-up environmental event worlwide. Started in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour has since become an annual global event for more than 7000 cities and towns in 152 countries to commit to lasting action on climate change, through the symbolic act of switching their lights for an hour. Earth Hour is organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Earth Hour 2013 will take place on Saturday, 23 March, at 8:30 to 9:30 PM. II. What do you need to do? Position Title: Earth Hour Social Mobilization Wonders 1. Effectively manage and head tasks allocated to Soc-Mob Agents; 2. Ensure that ALL sectors are reached within the acceptable timeframe prior to the Earth Hour event; 3. Produce and maintain a database of volunteers who will be part of the Earth Hour campaign; 4. Must attend eight (8) hours’ worth of office hours five days a week for a total of 40 hours weekly; 5. Must be determined and perform consistent coordination activities so that ALL invited sectors are engaged to join the switch off campaign and main ceremony; 6. Perform communication efforts (including the regular updating of the Earth Hour Pilipinas Website) that ensure the message and purpose of Earth Hour is as spread out as possible; 7. Ensure the Earth Hour Agents are aware of the message, purpose and relevance of the campaign before doing promotional work; 8. Read all reference materials provided by WWF about the Campaign; 9. Closely coordinate with the Core Group for updates and inquiries; 10. Be on top of all sectors approached for the Campaign; 11. Attend relevant internal Earth Hour meetings; 12. Attend the Earth Hour Launch; 13. Be resourceful especially when searching for the appropriate contacts per institution, company, establishment, among others. 14. Must be innovative and exude an empowering attitude when communicating Earth Hour to participants; 15. Expect to hold brief lectures or speaking engagements to potential targets groups on behalf of WWF and the Earth Hour Team; 16. Be passionate about the work at hand and its purpose.  III. What can you achieve? Duration: 14 January 2013 – 05 April 2013 1. Updated Database of all involved volunteers; 2. Brief assessment report of Social Mobilization success stories and recommendations; 3. Maintain clear and organized records, directories and documentation for the duration of Soc-Mob Operations; 4. Bi-weekly progress reports as to the volume of commitments reached and from which sectors for both the switch off campaign and main ceremony; 5. Making a difference in your own way.
