    This meta-analysis reviewed studies examining the effects of violent video games on both aggressive behavior and visuospatial cognition. For aggressive behavior, only studies directly measuring aggressive actions were included. After correcting for publication bias, results found no support for violent games increasing aggression. However, violent games were associated with improved visuospatial cognition, with an effect size of 0.36. While violent games did not appear to increase aggression, they may provide benefits to visuospatial skills. The debate on video game violence would benefit from considering both potential costs and benefits.
