The Beauty of Creation and the Great
The Beauty of Nature Have you ever stood on a beach or at the top of a mountain and just been amazed at how beautiful the world is? If you have, then you know what Psalm 19 means when it says “The heavens declare the glory of God; the sky proclaims its builder‟s craft.” (2) The Father is a truly amazing Creator! We can see the beauty of creation all around us—in the changing of the seasons, in the new life every spring, and in the animals all around us. We live in a very beautiful world! The Beauty of Human Life We are a part of that beauty! Each person, from the moment of their conception, is amazing simply because they exist. Just look at how each one of us developed as a baby—miraculously growing from a single cell into a fully developed baby; from an infant to a toddler who can walk and talk; from a teenager into an adult. Each step of our lives, as we grow in remarkable ways, we can see within ourselves and in one another beauty, creativity and a great capacity to love. Human persons are truly amazing creatures, and we also „declare the glory of God‟! Beauty and Goodness in Difficult Situations All human life is good and beautiful. This is an important fact that we need to understand, believe in and hold on to. It is easy to confess it when we are looking at our healthy child(ren), spouse or parents. However, it is just as equally true when a person is in a persistent coma or suffering in pain, when we find out that our soon to be born child will have some physical or mental deficiency, or when a child is conceived at a time when we had not planned on it. Even in these difficult situations life is good and beautiful! In these situations human life must be respected and protected. This may be difficult for some people because of fear or a lack of understanding and knowledge about the situation. It is in these times that we must come together as a community and, in solidarity with one another, help our brothers and sisters in need. We are called to love and help one another. We should never take for granted the great gift of life!
“God created mankind in his image; in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God looked at everything he had made, and found it very good. Evening came, and morning followed—the sixth day.” Genesis 1:27,31 (emphasis added)

The gift of life which God the Creator and Father has entrusted to man calls him to appreciate the inestimable value of what he has been given and to take responsibility for it. Donum Vitae 1
In a striking way, we see today a heightening of the tension between our nation's founding principles and political reality. We see this in diminishing respect for the inalienable right to life and in the elimination of legal protections for those who are most vulnerable. There can be no genuine justice in our society until the truths on which our nation was founded are more perfectly realized in our culture and law.
USCCB, Living the Gospel of Life

God has given us so much! This week, take time each day each to think about how amazing God has made you. Think about what gifts and talents He has given you, and in what ways His glory shines through you. You do not have to do this on your own! After thinking about it by yourself, ask someone close to you how they see God‟s glory in your life. Most importantly, ask God! In prayer, ask Him to show you how He sees you!
