The Days of Your Youth

That is strikingly similar to what Adam told God who questioned him about his sin of eating the forbidden fruit, correct? Yes, Adam admitted, but it was the woman you gave me who brought me the fruit and I ate it. (Gen 3:12). Here, Adam was blaming God for his sin! Did you decipher that? What happens next? When God questions Eve, Adams wife, she shifts the blame on the serpent. I wish she had said, I repent! instead of talking about the serpent when God confronted her about her sin. God expected a David-like, I have sinned answer when our sins are laid bare (I Sam 12:13). Did you notice there is a period a full stop after that word sinned in your Bible? David offered no excuses for his horrendous sin. Neither should we. David did not say, Yes, what I did was sort of wrong. But that woman Bathsheba had no business to be bathing in my full view! Whom do you resemble here Adam and Eve or David?

Even my wife could face Michael Clarke...

WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE

by Duke Jeyaraj
After the Sydney Test. It was a Test Match that India could have won or at the least drawn. I am referring to the gripping Test Match that India played against Australia at Sydney in December 2007. On the last day, on a wearing wicket, with just a few minutes to go to the finish, Indias last batsman in the second innings got out and India lost. After the match, the Indians were talking about why they lost that particular match. They talked about the umpiring decisions that went against them. They bad-mouthed the West Indian Umpire Steve Bucknor who officiated in this Test. This guy has a long track record of doling out bad umpiring decisions to India! they fumed. But you know what I could not buy their arguments. Their rattle did not go well with me. I felt they were just making lame excuses for having lost that game. I say that because India lost three wickets to the simple spin bowling of Michael Clarke in

the final few minutes. I told myself, I can play Michael Clarkes bowling - even my wife could, possibly! We are talking about excuses here. We are talking about the blame game here. What about you? Do you give excuses? Do you play the blame game? Coffin nail called excuse. Excuses are nails in the coffin of failure, someone smartly said. They really are. They actually are. If you studied the Bible on the subject of excuses you would agree with that quote. In this essay I am attempting to make this larger point: We must never make excuses, ever! The Bible, I discovered in different places, talks about different areas in our lives we usually go about making excuses but should not. Here they are: 1. No excuse for SIN Why did you get drunk? My friends forced me to join them!

Adam blamed Eve and God for his sin

2. No excuses for NOT SOULWINNING Excuse Master! Vivian Richards nickname was Master Blaster. Both Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar

The Days of Your Youth

have made the nickname Little Master! their own. You may wonder why I am doing this master nickname talk. I am doing it just to introduce you to Excuse Master. Excuse Master? Excuse me! Who on earth is that?! is that your question? Excuse Master alias Moses. When God told him to go to Pharaoh and to speak on behalf of his battered brothers who were slaves in Egypt, he started giving excuses (Ex 3:10). Heres his excuse number one: But who am I to appear before Pharaoh? (Ex 3:11). On hearing his excuse, God was very patient with him. He promises His empowering presence with Moses (Ex 3:12). Moses was still reluctant. He comes up with excuse number two the possible unbelief of his own people (Ex 3:13). God gives him a fitting reply. No Lalu, No Obama! He shoots his excuse number three (Read it for yourself in Exodus 4:1). God gives a fitting reply to that excuse as well. You would think by now that Moses would give up his irritating habit of giving excuses. He didnt. He then

gives his excuse number four Im not a good speaker I am clumsy with words! (Ex 4:10) (NLT). Oh boy! Moses was telling God that he was no Barack Obama or Lalu Prasad Yadav when it came to Public Speaking. Gods question in response to that excuse, Who makes mouths? should have swept Moses off his feet and struck a chord in his heart. But, apparently, it hadnt. You dont hire this sort! Moses was now ready with excuse number five, Lord! Please send someone else! (Ex 4:13). I am not the best man for this job, God! I am surprised that you have such poor hiring skills. Go back and check your MBA Human Resource subject text book, God! You dont hire such a non-confident, cowardly guy for a top job! There are blokes I know, around this very area, who can do the same job in a much better way than I do! That was Moses fifth excuse rephrased for you by this writer. Moses would not still release himself from his lip-lock with Miss Excuse! God could no longer excuse Moses excuse-giving spree. Excuse me, Moses! Why are you giving me excuse after excuse! I am not ready to buy those! You must still go to Egypt to speak to Pharaoh with your brother God thundered in anger (Ex 4:14). Our endless excuses exasperate God- did you know?! Ask Moses, he will tell you that it really does. An Excuse spree angers God!

of sin (Egypt is one of Bibles pictures for sin according to Bible scholars). To become soulwinners. Are we ready to go? Are we ready to open our mouth and start sharing the Good News about Jesus which can set the captives free? We arent. We are merely giving excuse after excuse as to why we cannot do it or why we will not do it. That is really sad. That makes God angry. Let us flush out all our excuses we offer for not doing evangelism! Missionary Journey Vs Lavatory Journey! Jeremiah had initially turned down Gods call upon his life to be a prophet unto the Nations with the excuse - I am too young! (Jer 1:6-7). After having read Ecclesiastes 12 and understood that chapters thrust and message, I would like to think, God would have boxed his ear playfully and told him: Hey, Jerry (lets keep that as the nickname for Jeremiah) do you really think I am in a hurry to hire you to serve in my Vineyard as a missionary messenger for me? Dont! What missionary journey will you do, sonny boy, when even the lavatory journey becomes tedious as a grand old man! Now right in these days of your youth is the perfect time to serve me! Who knows when you could die? And guess what? After death meets you, it becomes trifle too late to be my witness. So before unexpected death hits you, get busy with the work of saving people from racing towards the second death (which is the Biblical term for the lake that burns with fire and sulfur) - Rev 21:8. Heard that? Would you respond to that challenge?

Im no Lalu when it comes to speaking! Moses to God.

God is asking you also to go for Him. To confront Satan (symbolized by Pharaoh). To rescue those under the bondage

The Days of Your Youth

Jeremaih was not like this when God called him...

3. No excuses for NOT MAKING IT TO THE SUPPER! Something, Someone, keeping you busy! A big banquet planned. A big bash organized. A big man is behind it. He wants his buddies to be part of it. He sends out the invites and waits. Waits for the answer from the folks he invited. Instead of hearing, Ill be there! he hears Sorry. I cant make it! The reasons (read excuses) each one offers for not making it to the banquet is quite imaginative. They all brought home something (field, ox) or someone (wife). And they claimed that these new additions in their lives kept them too busy (Luke 19:1620). So they had no time to spare for this super supper organized by the Lord (By now, you know, it is the Lord calling His people for fellowship with Him through this banquet, right!). Spiritual Briyani missed! You too have a bagful of excuses for not going out for a dinner date with Jesus? You would rather spend that time with your demanding girl friend instead, you feel. I got up late on Sunday morning after a late Saturday night out! Thats the excuse you offer for not having shown up

in Church to eat the spiritual briyani served by your Biblepreaching Pastor. I would like to see the Sunday Church Service you keep missing as a God-ordained feast in which Gods Word is packaged attractively and delectably served. A slight cold is enough excuse for you to skip that fellowship meeting in which you know you could devour Gods lip-smacking Word with life-changing truths in it. When God hears our excuses for missing our fellowship time with Him a time in which we would be fed by the Bible He isnt pleased. He gets angry (Luke 14:21). He fumes. He commissions His servants to get any willing Tom, Dick and Harry to eat the meal He had prepared. He warns that they those who missed out the fellowship with Him by giving excuses would not get the smallest taste of what He had prepared for them (Luke 14:24). The activities you got to do at the expense of spending time in His presence arent going to get you anywhere that is His point. Let us not neglect our meeting together! (Heb 10:25). 4. No Excuses on that SAD, SHOCKING SENTENCEISSUE DAY Excuse-givers would be stopped one day! From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see His invisible qualities His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God those are Paul somber words in Romans 1:20. What he was getting at is this: on the shocking, sad Day of Judgment, the day when God

would issue His irrevocable sentence about peoples eternal destinies, people who do not know the God of the Bible wont be left with any excuse whatsoever. If you read Pauls writings elsewhere, he talks about different ways in which God communicates with people through the ages and makes Himself known: through the skies, through the soul, through the Scriptures, through servants of God, through suffering, etc., so that on the final Day of Judgment no one can tell God, I do not even know you, God. How come I am packed off unceremoniously to hell? We see in the Bible that those who respond positively to the voice of God through creation and conscience invariably get an opportunity to hear about Christ the only one who alone can save us from sin and the only one who can prevent us from going to ever-lasting hell (the Cornelius story, found in Acts 10, is just one example). Those of us who have heard the Gospel and have experienced Jesus miraculous intervention in our lives, more so, will have no excuse on that terrible day (John 15:22-24). It is indeed true that on the final day of judgment, every mouth will be silenced and the whole world would be held accountable to God (Rom 3:19). The excuse-givers would have to stop someday. If they do not, they would be stopped on the judgment day, the Bible reveals. So why not throw away all our excuses to the trash can? Why dont we swiftly exit from our world of excuses?

Hi Duke, Im a weak Christian. I seem to embody the quote the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. I turned 22 a few days ago and I promised the Lord that I would live a holy life. I love Jesus Christ very very much but it tortures me to know that I ever so often let Him down. I will be very honest with you ... There are times I go through when I find myself wanting for a man ... feeling lonely and lost. Im not ADDICTED to porn but I do watch it sometimes. Lets say I give in to temptation like once in 2 months or so ... I know its not an addiction but if I am not careful it will become one. In any case, thats a totally different story altogether. I know watching porn is wrong but I dont know how to deal with my need to get intimate ... I dont know how to deal with my sexuality. I belong to a Christian family, I love the Lord with my all, I teach in Sunday School and I am a worship leader. I read up a lot on the internet on how to deal with my sexual needs and the world kept telling me that masturbating is all right. I looked up the Bible to know if masturbating is okay but even you know that the Bible does not clearly say YES or NO. I wonder if reading

IM A PORN-AGAIN BELIEVER HELP ME

some erotic stories would do the trick but I know that that too is wrong ... What do I do? I have fasted and prayed a lot about this weakness. I watch porn not hardcore, the extremely dirty and gross type ... When I mean porn, I mean the lovemaking scenes they show in movies ... I know there isnt much difference but at least the movie scenes are not disgusting ...But that doesnt change anything does it? Whats wrong is wrong thats it!!! I know that this is the only place that the devil finds as a strong hold. ... but I dont want to give in to him ... I feel horrible about myself after Ive read an erotic story or watched a scene from some movie .... I rarely do it but I do do it and I feel like Ive let God down big time!!! Ive tried praying every time I feel horny (as they say) but the feeling comes back and bugs me to the point that I have to give in ... Help me!!! What do I do? I keep asking God to forgive me and I know that God does too but I cant take His forgiveness for granted, can I? I dont want God to harden my heart the way He hardened Pharaohs heart ... I am His child and want to be continually... Help me!!! ~ A weak Christian. ............................................
This email we received, made me recall an article I wrote a decade ago. I have revised that article and published it in the next page for the benefit of youngsters like this girl struggling with sexual temptation.

The Days of Your Youth

OVER COMING SEXU AL TEMPT ATIONS VERCOMING SEXUAL TEMPTA

Duke Jeyaraj We live in a generation saturated and sunk, drenched and drugged with sex. Pushbutton sex is Satans No.1 enticement to this Me First generation which says I want pleasure and I want it, now! A whopping 77% of the 1,665 respondents to poll in 8 major Indian cities admitted that they longed for sexual temptations so that they could yield to them (Information source: Outlook, 13 October 1997). The trend hasnt changed much with time. Here is something to suggest that: a survey done in seven Indian cities revealed that 58% of the sample youth support pre-marital sex (Hyderabad Times, 9 December 2005). This piece of statistic just-released further underlines the point we just made: Out of the 100 girls in a big city school, at least 25 are sexually-active (India Today, 1 December 2008).
The movie icons are yielding to it. The sports superstars are yielding to it. Why, even Christianitys Star Preachers are yielding to it. Why then should I be an exception? says that typical, tired, stumbling, Christ-believing youngster. Whys that? Its because sexual temptations are powerful, penetrative and almost permanent. So if you cant beat them you think let me join them. Well, you CAN beat them. My personal meditation on the Scriptures has given me ten ways to beat sexual temptations. Win the battle against sex and you win the battle of your life. Lose it, then you lose the battle of your life, wrote Billy Graham as early as 1957 (quoted by George Verwer in The Lordship of Christ, found at www.urbana.org on 3 March 2007). have been openly offered to idols and later offered to him) this would be reply: I made up my mind not to defile myself (Dan 1:8 NLT). We must set our mind to appreciate the fact that sins pleasures are at best fleeting (Heb 11:25). Moses, once he recognized this, could bid farewell to a royal life in the Egyptian Palace (where sexual pleasure was there for the asking!). When we have it in our mind that a single day in Gods courts is better than a thousand anywhere else, then, we would stay far from sin (Psa 85:10). World renowned sexologist records.

Very often Satan would entice us with sexual temptation saying we would feel awesome if we yielded to it. But the end result would be that we would feel awful after an initial elation. Dr. Sudhakar Krishnamurti is a world Win the battle against sex, renowned sexologist who lives in Lets start you win the battle of your Hyderabad. He talks about a married man who walked into his life, wrote Billy Graham. 1. SET! clinic one day in his book, Sex is Start with your thoughts! Not a Four-Letter Word. This man had four sexual affairs outside of his marriage going on at the The very first step to beat sexual temptation or same time. He laid bare his feelings of any temptation has got to do with your mind. If dissatisfaction, emptiness, guilt, remorse and you quizzed Daniel how he beat temptation that exhaustion to the doctor. You see, sexual sin pertained to the desires of his body (in his case it has the effect salt water has on your throat. It was the temptation to eat tasty food that may leaves you thirstier!

The Days of Your Youth

Dr. Krishnamurtis book tells the story of a sex-addict who

Say you have an option of getting into a permanent job and temporary job, what would you naturally choose? The permanent job obviously! But when it comes to temptation especially sexual temptation we choose the temporary job. I say that because we chase after passing pleasures when there are eternal pleasures at the right hand of God (Psa 16:11). 2. SPRINT! Scooping fire on your lap? Beating other types of temptation may require resisting (1 Pt 5:9) white beating sexual temptations requires running away from the source be it a person, a situation or a place (2 Tim 2:22). Joseph did it. And he won. He sprinted from the person he refused to even be with her and then from the sin-inducing situation left his cloak ... and ran out (Gen 39: 10,12). The young man of Proverbs 7 did not. And he lost. It was expected because He was going ... near her corner (Prov 7:8 NIV). King Solomon, a man who had seen it all has

some solid advice: Do not go near the door of her house (Prov 5:8 NIV). If your eyes keep zeroing in on the object causing the temptation like how Davids telescopic eyes zeroed in on the bathing Bathsheba or Samsons eyes on the Gaza prostitute be sure youve bought the ticket to disaster (2 Sam 11:23; Jdg 16:1). Like how youd look away when your eyes spot an electric welding arc, deliberately look away when you see a sexually seducing source. A person who plays the fool and stays at close quarters with sexually seducing source, still expecting to come out clean is like a wishful thinking fool who expects his clothes to be unburnt after having scooped fire on his lap (Prov 6:27). 3. SWEAT! Afridi and Purity How can youth be pure in this perverted age? The other day when I was reading an article about Shahid Afridi, the hurricane batsmen from Pakistan, I got an answer to that question. That article was written following his 45-ball hundred against India in Kanpur in the 2005 ODI series. Here are a few excepts from that article: Afridis 45-ball hundred on a pitch of low bounce in the Kanpur ODI was a classic of power and precision. And his first defensive stroke in Kanpur led to his dismissal. Being attacking, perhaps, is a matter of survival for him (The Sportstar , June 11, 2005). Those lines reminded me of David who fell into temptation when he stayed at home chillaxing(Chill and Relax ing) instead of joining his soldiers in attacking his opposition (II Sam 11:1). David lazily shrunk away from the job

he was supposed to be doing waging war. So he ended up doing what he was not supposed to do making love with a woman who was not his wife (2 Sam 11:2). On that catastrophic day he woke up in the evening (2 Sam 11:2). Id imagine he slept right through the morning and got up only in the evening! The bed of sloth is often the bed of lust, wrote Matthew Henry, the great Bible Commentator (found at www.searchgodsword.org on 6 March 2007). When Amnon lazily shrunk into his bed even though he was perfectly all right, he ended up raping his half-sister (2 Sam 13). The message is clear: laziness is a sure-fire ticket to sexual sin. Laziness is an open invitation for the Devil to tempt you! Standing waters gather filth, havent you noticed? Being an attacking Christian which practically means that you dont miss any opportunity to witness, you race for those weekend outreaches, you dash when you get a chance to preach even if it is only to two people, etc is a great safeguard to beat temptation. 4. SNAP-FREE!

What does gouge your eye mean? When Jesus said gouge your eye which causes you to sin, He advocated the use of drastic steps to check and curb the onslaught of sexual passions (Math 5:28-30). Joseph snapped free from the wife of Portiphar when he came to know about her immoral intentions. He understood Jesus gouge-your-eye message right. Chuck Swindoll, that famous American Bible Teacher, when

The Days of Your Youth

No porn channels into my Hotel room TV - Dr. Swindolls request to Hotel desk.
he checks into any hotel gives specific instructions to the staff of the hotel to block all pornographic channels that go into the television in his hotel room (Found at www.ccel.us/ Swindoll.chap3.html on 5 March 2007). He sure understood Jesus gouge-youreye message right. Billy Graham once narrated an incident about how one of his associate evangelists staying alone in a Paris hotel locked himself in and threw the key out through the window when the temptation to go out and visit the strip-tease joints in Paris where no one would know him became almost unbearable (I heard this story in a Ravi Zacharias sermon tape). That evangelist too understood Jesus gouge-your-eye message right. The Bible says that bulls with the habit of goring have to be kept penned up (Ex 21:29). Believer bulls who know that they have a special weakness for sexual goring should pen up themselves with such kinds of special and drastic steps for beating sexual temptations. Thrown in Thames! Samuel said to all the people of Israel, If you are really serious about wanting to return to the Lord, get rid of your foreign Gods and the images of Ashtoreth (I Sam 7:3). Ashtoreth is the name of the

Canaanite goddess of fertility, sexuality and war (The Nelson Study Bible, (Nashville: Thomas Nelson publishers, 1997), page 462). So the images that God wanted his people to destroy were images that were probably sexuality explicit. They certainly look like pornographic images that the people of Israel enjoyed leering at. These had to destroyed. True, porn material is available with ease in India and elsewhere. One magazine reported that they are as common as vada pav and masala dosa and their business worth in India is Rs. 2,500 crore (The Week, January 21, 2007). But just because porn is so easily available viewing them cannot be appropriate. According to Gods word, pornographic material CDs, photographs etc must be destroyed. A doctor who heard Billy Graham preach in London in 1954 confessed that his waiting room was full of pornographic literature. After surrendering his life to Jesus, he immediately gathered up and threw it into the Thames (Just As I am, Billy Graham (USA: HarperSanFrisco, 1997), p. 229.). Will you also follow suit? 5. SELECT! Nathan, a friend of David, like Jonathan! Two are better than one ... if one falls down, his friend can help him up (Eccl 4:9,10 NIV). Thus

wrote Solomon, I believe, because he missed an accountability friend in his life. His father had a Nathan, a friend of his like Jonathan was, who could look him in the eye and tell him You may be king, but you need to measure up! when he fell into sexual sin. But Solomon had no such court-prophet-friend someone whod not only pat him on the back when was on song , but also correct him when he went wrong . Corrupting Comrades! On the other hand, ungodly friends and their corrupting counsel could surely lure you into sexual sin. It was Ahithophels corrupting advice - Lie with your fathers concubines - that made Absalom perform a sexual exhibition in the sight of all Israel (2 Sam 16:20-22). Amnons friend Jonadab poisoned his mind to egg him on to play a drama to rape his half-sister (2 Sam 13: 3-5). Accountability Friend! Select a friend with whom you can share with confidence the struggles you face in beating sexual temptations - even the failures and giving him the authority to check you will go a long way in helping you beat it. As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another (Prov 27:17 NIV). I am really benefited in my life with the help of an accountability friend. It can tell you that this really works! 6. SHOOT! Bible Bullets to shoot down temptation! From the warnings against adulteresses in Proverbs we

The Days of Your Youth

read this: These commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light ... keeping you from the immoral woman (Prov 6:23,24 NIV). Quote the scriptures and you wont court the devil when he brings those seductive temptations to you. Shoot Scripture verses to shoo away the Devil! That is what Jesus did. He quoted three verses from the book of Deuteronomy to send Satan scurrying (Math 4). Tempted to watch pornography? Quote II Sam 11:27, But the thing David had done displeased the Lord (The first thing he did in that chapter was to have a long, lingering, lustful, look at bathing Bathsheba). Is Satan seducing you to touch the opposite sex intimately? Then quote Proverbs 5:20, Why embrace the bosom of another mans wife? (NIV) Or quote Proverbs 6:29, No one who touches her will go unpunished (NIV). Addicted to the act of masturbation? Then quote Gal 5:16, So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature (NIV). Or I Cor. 7:9, But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry (not masturbate, mind you!). For it is better to marry (not masturbate, please note!) than to burn with passion! (NIV). Is anyone inviting you into a homosexual relationship? Then quote I Cor. 6:9-10, Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoralnor homosexual offenders will inherit the Kingdom of God. (NIV) Psalm 101:3, Mathew 5:28, Job 31:1 are other potential bombs to bust sexual traps. Then you can say with David I have hidden your word in my heart

that I might not sin against you (Psa 119:11 NIV). 7. STAY PUT! Not banned from it! If I paraphrased Nathans question to David after his adultery it would What do blue films and blue waters be this way. If you have in common? Read this page... wanted sex, you of sexual energy, which unless could have had it with your swerved diverted for other wife. Why in the world did you nobler purposes will definitely go after another mans wife! lead to inevitable sexual sin. (2 Sam 12: 8,9). The question Blocking a furiously flowing Solomon asks us is also in the river with a dam may be same vein, Enjoy the wife you smart, but easing the pressure married as a young man!... Why would you trade enduring off the dam walls by diversion canals is brilliant, right? Ask intimacies for cheap thrills David, hell give a diversion with a whore? (Prov idea: advance against troop, 5:18,19 The Message ). God told scale a wall (Ps 18:29 NIV). us never to lie, never to steal Or ask the Nike shoes ad fellows but never did He tell us, not to and pat would come this ready have sex. He only told us to reply: Move. Hit a ball. Climb stay put wait for the right a hill. Run a mile. Dont sit time. Just remember, you are there. Just do it! I am not not banned from sexual kidding when your sexual pleasure - the pleasure about energies magnetically pull you which Hollywood Entertainer to watch a blue movie, perhaps Woody Allen quipped, Its the its time to diffuse that energy best fun one could have, into the blue waters of the without laughing forever beach, swimming. Just glorious than giving off our best remember a day is coming strength to the Saviour, rather when you can have all of it than to sinful sexual pleasures the day of your wedding. through the power of the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:13 NIV). He again writes in the same vein that if we walk in the Spirit we will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature (Gal 5:16 NIV). The consciousness of the presence of the Lord enabled Joseph to resist the advances of an immoral woman (Gen 39:3,10-12). I was reminded of this when I read a letter written by a young woman to a magazine. Here are excerpts from that letter: I am a 27year-old employed woman. In a moment of madness, I had sex with a colleague of mine one evening when just the two of us were in the office working late. Or rather, we thought that we were the only people in the office. Actually, the office peon was there and he saw us. My colleague and I came to our senses that same nightBut that peon is giving us trouble. He is threatening to tell people in the office about what happened unless we give him money( Womens Era , August (First) 2006, pages 9798). The tone of the letter suggests to me that this young girl would not have indulged in sexual sin if she knew that the peon was there. You know what there is always someone watching us, wherever we are and whatever we do. That is God. He says, I am watching them closely, and I see every sin. They cannot hope to hide from me! (Jer 16:17 NLT). When we are always conscious that the Unseen One sees us only the Holy Spirit can make us realize this on a minute by minute basis we can say No to sexual temptation like Joseph! Yes, you can beat sexual temptation!

IS MONDAY YOUR MOURN-DAY?

by Abhimanue Vonteddu

Do you feel the regular Monday laid back attitude creeping in? Do you feel too lazy to work ? Are you experiencing some kind of dizziness, that otherwise should have been absent on a Monday? Do you feel like not working at all, in spite of the fact that theres loads of work pumping in? Do you suddenly feel very discouraged and de-motivated at the kind of start you are giving this whole week? Then the task is, Get up on your feet, walk briskly towards a quiet corner, may be the rest room - and start praying in tongues. The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, the Scripture declares (I Cor 14:4). If youve never prayed in tongues, then pray as the Spirit leads. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words, we read in our Bibles (Rom 8:26). Even as you pray, cover yourselves with the precious blood of the Lamb and rebuke all the laziness in Jesus name. Go to the ant, O SLUGGARD; consider her ways, and be wise, so says the Bible in Proverbs 6:6. The one who said, As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me - night is coming, when no one can work, cant be lazy, right ? (John 9:4). So obviously the lazy, laid-back, feeling you are going through is not from the Lord. And if its not from God, then it has to be from the other side. And in your right mind, you definitely wouldnt want to tolerate any nonsense of the Devil... You dont have to ... shhhoooo it away in Jesus name .. P.S - Those who are not going through the above, but are rocking, please pray for the rest of us...

Over two million people were in front of him. Several millions more watched him over television. Minutes after he took the oath to become the 44th President and the first Afro-American president of the United States, Barack Obama made an eloquent, electrifying speech. I sat at the edge of the
black sofa set at our home in Hyderabad to listen to every word the first Black President of the United States uttered in that speech. And the result is this essay packed with gleaned-out Bible truths from that speech. May I share those Bible truths with you? 1. The lesson about PROMISE When Obama raised his voice! I can distinctly recall the first time Obama raised his voice in that spell-binding 18-minute speech. It is at the end of this excerpt I quote: Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America they will be met. After the crowd heard the last sentence you just read, they roared in applause for the first time during the speech. Like Obama, the God of the Bible does not promise us a life free of trouble and trials, challenges and crisis. Just like Obama predicted that there would be many challenges for America, the Bible makes no bones of that fact when it says there would be many tribulations that would come to a believer enroute to the kingdom of God (Acts 14:22). Obama made a promise to his nation that every challenge his countrymen faces or will face, will be met with. We just have to hope that happens. But when it comes to Gods promises we can be sure that they will happen. Hear Joshuas testimony about God: Not one word has failed of all the good things that the Lord God promised (Josh 21:45; 23:15). The most-repeated promise we have in the Bible is about the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus. People ask, Will Jesus really come?! But I have no doubt that He will. Hear Balaams rhetorical question: Does He (God) promise and not fulfill? (Num 23:19). Obama may. But the Omnipotent one, wont! 2. The lesson about PERSEVERANCE Prophet Haggai Vs President Obama That Barack Obama is the peptalk prince is no secret. And when he took the mike the first time as the US President he did no damage to his reputation in this area. Hear what he said: Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America. For everywhere we look, there is work to be done Those glowing words reminded me of Prophet Haggais. Prophet Haggais words as he was motivating the de-moralized group of returnees who got back to Israel from Babylon after seventy sapping years in exile. Hear Prophet Haggais

words - words he used to egg the returned exiles for the tedious task of rebuilding the shattered sanctuary in Jerusalem: Be strong, all you people of the Land. Work, for I am with you. My Spirit remains in your midst! Fear not! (Hag 2:4-5). The Let us pick ourselves up quote reminds me of the Proverbs 16:24 message: Though the righteous falls seven times, he rises again Put in a poetical way, the lesson for us here is this: When the pathway seems long, when temptation is strong, when your strength is almost gone, that is the time to press on! (I am quoting someone here).

response was a barrage of words. The sword Word! In response to the perils the Devil causes to our spiritual lives, by way of tantalizing temptation, we too must use words! Confused? Hang on. Let me explain. Jesus used the words of the book of Deuteronomy to quash the peril of temptation, three times, remember? (Math 4). To stand against the schemes of the devil, we need to take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Eph 6:10-18). When we start quoting relevant Bible verses, the temptation-bringing Devil would stop courting us! Yes, it is true words, Gods Words I mean, remain the best way of blowing away the peril of temptation. So get ready for war! Start uploading potential Bible bombs in your heart! For the peril of yielding to the temptation of gossip, upload Mathew 12:36 into your system. For the peril of yielding to the temptation of porn-watching, upload I Samuel 11:27. You can go on expanding this list, endlessly. 4. The lesson from our PAST Reading History Vs Creating History The only time, Barack Obama got a touch personal in that serious speech was when he talked about his father an immigrant from Kenya to the United States. This is the meaning of our creed why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent mall, and why a man whose father less

than 60 years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant, can now stand before you to take the most sacred oath. What Obama was getting at here is simple: he did not let his past, pattern his life. He did not want to merely read history, he wanted to create history! And guess what thats exactly what he did by becoming the first Black President of America. The Bible also tells us that we must not allow our past to influence us in a negative way. Paul put it this way: But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining toward what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Phil 2: 13,14). What has God called us to do, primarily? It is to proclaim Jesus and what He did at the Cross, to everyone we come across, through life and lip. Lets give our life for this upward call! Barack Obama sewed up his speech with a breath-taking narration from the pages of the history of the United States. Hear it from his silver-tongue: So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of Americas birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people: Let it be told to the future world. That in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger,

3. The lesson about PERILS When he made the following statement, Barack Obama received the applause, which even the clouds could hear during that speech: We will not apologise for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us and we will defeat you! That stinging rhetoric that Obama unleashed warmed the sub-zero temperature in the arena and the atmosphere in the arena became charged. Obama was talking about the perils that his nation faced because of the threats of terrorists and his

came forth to meet (it). America, in the face of our common dangers, in this winter of hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by childrens children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and eyes fixed on the horizon and Gods grace upon us we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations. Obama version of Hebrews 11 What you just read seems to be an Obama version of Hebrews 11 the chapter in which we get to read heart-touching summaries of the true life stories of giants of the Old Testament who did not falter or turn back; giants who endured storms having fixed their eyes on the City in Heaven whose maker and builder was God himself. These guys did not cuss God and give up even when they were brutally butchered - sawed into two, to be specific (Heb 11:37). Imagine that. A rusty hacksaw blade going over a stillvery-much-alive human body operated by John Abrahamlike muscular hunks. Blood oozes. Strips of flesh hangs loose. Blood-curdling groans are heard. Yet these hacksawed guys did not deny their faith because their eyes were fixed on the horizon. These clouds of witnesses from a rare tribe watch us from heaven and inspire us to get on with it on our narrow-road journey with Jesus (Heb 12:1).

I AM standing before you here in flesh and blood. If you like to physically assault me, you can do it now. You do not have to throw stones from a distance or scream at me from afar. Come here, do what you want. I am ready to face everything. I have the conviction that I am doing right when I seek to bring social justice and equality to this society and our country. With these words Vishwanath Pratap Singh moved sideways from the mike and took two steps forward on the dais. He was right in front daring potential attackers. Silence engulfed the environs of that extraordinary public meeting. Until that moment, the predominantly Dalit-Other Backward Classes (OBC) meeting was under constant brickbatting from a group of people who had taken cover in nearby buildings. Bottles and stones that came hurtling through the air had found two other important targets on the dais former Union Ministers Sharad Yadav and Ajit Singh. Both suffered injuries on the head and were rushed to hospital for first aid. It was at this moment that V.P. Singh stepped in to speak. The silence hung in the air for what seemed an eternity; the assault too stopped. It was a rare instance of magical, emotive political oration that one had the privilege of witnessing. The meeting progressed without untoward incidents thereafter. This happened 18 years ago, in November 1990, and remains one of my most enduring experiences as a political journalist. So writes VENKITESH RAMAKRISHNAN on V. P. Singh, Former Indian Prime Minister who recently passed away in Frontline magazine. After I read that I asked myself, Duke would you have been that gutsy if something similar happened in an Open Air Gospel Meeting you were preaching in?! This gutsy character of V. P. Singh reminded me of another character a Bible Character. I am referring to the Apostle Paul, a former Pharisee, who was a dare-devil when it came to the proclamation of the Gospel. Here this, his words, and you could get goose bumps: But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God (Acts 20:24). And a little later he said, I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus (Acts 21:13). When will you and I, get that bold when it comes to presenting Jesus to those who havent heard about him, through o ur life and lip?

When will we be that courageous and that daring when it comes to the matters concerning the Kingdom of God?

What is your heart set on?

Christopher Tharalla Why is it so important to be very careful to decide on what or whom we set our hearts on? What would be its consequence in the future? Zac set his heart on seeing Jesus Consider the passage, Luke 19:1-9. Zacchaeus made a choice to see the Lord Jesus who was to pass by. His heart was set on fulfilling this desire and he was determined to do that. Though he was wealthy and held a very good position as Chief Tax Collector, he lacked contentment. He had a real hunger for God. His down-to-earth stature did not allow him to have an easy view. He overcame this particular obstacle he faced by climbing a tree. People in general and children in particular must have laughed at him and made fun of him, but that did not bother him. What was the net result? Lord Jesus Christ, in spite of the huge crowd being around, came straight to Zacchaeus, and offered to be his guest. Jesus knew where Zacchaeus heart was set on. John 2:25 says, Jesus knew what was in the hearts of people. Zacchaeus was so moved in his heart for the privilege of hosting Jesus visit that he repented of his sins and pledged to repay people he cheated. This resulted in him receiving forgiveness and assurance of salvation from the Lord himself. An invaluable blessing indeed! Amnon set his heart on his half-sister Next, consider 2 Samuel 13. We read about a man called Amnon, son of King David. His heart-setting was on a person, his half-sister called Tamar (a setting obviously outside Gods will). He was so much in love with her that he became sick. He put up a pretension after taking counsel from his cunning cousin and friend Jonadab. He told Amnon to ask King David to let Tamar come to his house to prepare food for him. And when she foolishly came he kept seeing her lustfully (see verses 5, 6 & 8) and ultimately had his way by violating her body. What was the result? He immediately ended up utterly frustrated (verse 15) and just after 2 years, Absalom, Tamars brother killed him to take revenge (verse 23). Note, once when Amnon set his heart on Tamar, everything worked out in his favor. A foolish adviser was available and his advice worked. Also, King David could not discern Amnons intentions, even though any simpleton could foresee that (see verse 32). God ensured that Amnon did not escape the consequence of his decision. Preacher Ravi Zacharias once said, If you are determined to go in your own direction, God will step aside and second your motion. To be safer, watch the kind of friends you keep. Evil friends will naturally give evil advises that could lead you to your destruction. Also, Amnons manipulation helped him to graduate to an environment in which he could see her more and that finally ruined his life. Gazing upon forbidden sights leave an open door for the devil to step into our life and ruin us. Hence, keep a check on the input visuals you are exposed to or you expose yourself to. Proverbs 14:12 says, There is a way that seemeth right unto man but the end thereof is destruction. God is a fair and just God and He will deal with us depending on what or whom we set our heart on. He will not force His will on anybody. I Corinthians 3:19 says, God traps the wise in their own craftiness. Zacchaeus heart-setting helped him to over-came obstacles and he received salvation; while Amnons heart-setting reaped only frustration and death for him. If you want your future to be exciting, set your heart on doing those things that please God. On the other hand, we can ruin our life by setting our heart on anyone else or any thing. Mathew 6:21 says that your heart will always be where your riches are. Riches imply what you hold valuable.

Moses set his heart on what concerned God Finally, Deuteronomy 34:10-12 says that there was never a man like Moses, a Levite, whom the Lord was close to and used so mightily. Why did God choose Moses for the role he played? Deuteronomy 2:25 says, God saw the slavery of the Israelites and was concerned for them. In Deuteronomy 2:11, Moses also saw how the Israelites were forced to do hard labor despite he being in comfort-zone in the Egyptian royal place. God found a man who was saw the same people that He was seeing and with the same concern that He had. Hence God chose Moses. Colossians 3:1-3, admonishes us to set our hearts on heavenly things and not on things of this world. How do you want your future to be? What is your heart set on?

A SCAR Y PRA YER GR OUP! SCARY PRAYER GROUP!

Stephen Jothiraj Acts 5:12,13 goes this way: And all the believers used to meet together in Solomons Colonnade. No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. Did your notice the word dared in that description of the early church prayer group? I was wondering what did the people find in this prayer group that made them scared to join it even though they thought highly of the group? I speculate that the prayer group that met in Solomons Colonnade was at a different plateau in their praying. I believe that this prayer group did not just pray for board exams and fine weather rather they must have interceded for men and wrestled with the devil (like Epaphras did). They must have praised God for being counted worthy to suffer. This must have baffled the onlookers. Their prayers must have been with power unlike the usual prayer meetings that we normally attend. They must have put their whole lives behind their prayers. They must have got exhausted after their prayers. Their prayers must have been without the flowery words and eloquence that we like, rather it must have been with groaning and unintelligible utterances (like that of Hannahs). Their prayers must have created havoc in hell. They must NOT have prayed merely for more money. They must NOT have prayed for merely a bigger church building. They must have prayed for lost men. They must have prayed for courage. They must have prayed for the resurrection power. Oh how carnal our prayer meetings look in the light of this one! I believe that the prayers made by this group were out of the world. They must have learnt it from the Lord himself as some of them witnessed the Lords Gethsemane prayer. Mere men must have been so afraid to join them. The very sight must have given them a complex. Or it could be that their righteousness reflected the worlds corruptness as somebody put it. I believe that these God-consumed men were so out-of-the-world. So otherworldly that the worldly men wouldnt dare join them. Can that be said of our prayer groups? Can that be said of my prayer group? I do not think so! Oh Lord, I plead with you to transform my prayer group into a scary prayer group by transforming me into a scary prayer warrior first!

Trinity and The Tiar a Trio Tiara

by Duke Jeyaraj

India Today magazine had an interesting article about Tiara Trio of the Bollywood Movie Industry. Theyre opening movies, pushing brands, cherry-picking projects, and gracing glossy covers. They are the new queens of Bollywood, this article announced (November 17, 2008). Who make this trio?
First, the Peachy Princess, Katrina Kaif, 24. She commands Rs.2 crore a movie and endorses six brands at Rs.2 crore each. She replaced Aishwarya Rai as the brand ambassador for Nakshatra. Second, the Career Twister, Priyanka Chopra, 26. She too charges Rs.2 crore per movie and endorses seven brands at Rs.2 crore each. The 17.5 crore movie Fashion, which had practically had no male lead, a film which had her in almost every frame, made Rs.20 crore in the first week. Third, Born to Bling Kareena Kapoor, 28. pockets Rs.2.5 crore per movie and endorses seven brands at Rs. 2 crore each. Sleep is a luxury I cant afford, she says. It is not unusual. Four years ago, Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta were the gilded lilies. Between them, they had the finest directors, the best endorsements and the tabloid space. But that was then. The Trinity from eternity This trio tiara piece reminded me of a part of theology that is not talked about that much these days - the theology of the Trinity. Yes, the teaching that God is one, yet exists in three persons. We may have a trio of actresses ruling the roost in Mumbai, but, make no mistake here, we dont have trio Godhead calling the shots in the Bible. Instead we have a triune God. Or as our theologians put it, God who has three-in-oneness. The Bible teaches that very clearly. We must first understand that each of them is distinct. At the water baptism of Jesus this is illustrated perfectly. God the father speaks from heaven. God the Son sinks in water, guided by John. God the Spirit

settles upon God the Son in form of a dove (Math 3:16-17). So dont let anyone con you to believe that God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit are all one and the same persons who showed up in different roles and clothes at different times! They are not! Make no mistake: God has existed as the trinity from eternity past. Jesus existed with the father before the foundation of the world, the Bible declares (John 17:24). Because the Holy Spirit is named as the eternal Spirit we come to understand, he too existed with the Father and the Son from eternity past (Heb 9:14). One in essencein one sentence! Further we learn from the Bible that God the father is God (Gen 1:1), God the Son is God (John 1:1) and God the Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4). Yet they make up one God who exists in three different and distinct persons (I Cor 8:6). The doctrine of Trinity is not cooked up by modern evangelical theologians. It is there evident in the very first book of the Bible the book of

The Days of Your Youth

18

Genesis. In this book, we see the Trinity in action. We read, the God-head saying, Let us make man in our image... (Gen 1:26), dont we? The Trinity challenges Isaiah saying, Who shall I send? Who will go for us? (Isa 6:8). There you have it - the first sentence there in that verse, teaches us that God is one; the second sentence points to the Trinity! Mathew 28:19, I Corinthians 1:9; 12:46; II Corinthians 13:14, Ephesians 4:4-6, I Peter 1:2, Jude 20-21 bring the three persons of the Godhead together in one sentence. When the God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are one in essence, what the big deal about them being mentioned in one breath, in one sentence! The Trinity Teams Up. In four passages of Scripture we see the Trinity team up in an unmistakable way. Let me talk about those crucial passages. One way to read Psalm 110:1 is this way: God the father said to God the Son, Sit at my right hand! Isaiah 48:16 has Trinitarian implications according to Systematic Theologian of repute, Wayne Grudem, because, the True Servant of the Lord (who is Jesus, the God the Son) says here, God the Father has sent me (into this World, to save it) with God the Holy Spirit, if that verse were put simply! Hosea 1:6,7 could be reconstructed this way: God, the Father says, I will deliver the house of Judah (and the whole world) by the God the Son! The message of Malachi 3:1-2 is quite clear: God the father announces that the much sought-after God the Son will suddenly come to his temple! After having read the four Bible passages referred to

in this paragraph, with an open mind, you cannot but believe in One God who exists eternally as three persons! Trinity, thorough out History We see the Trinity in action through out Biblical History. In Creation, God the Father created the World through his Son, the Word. God the Holy Spirit hovers over the creation like a mother hen would hover over her chicks to protect them (Heb 11:3; John 1:1-3; Gen 1:2). In the Incarnation, God the Father sent God the Son into womb of Virgin Mary.

gave God the Holy Spirit who hovered over the heads of 120 disciples like a tongue of fire, thereby fulfilling the promise of God the Son (Acts 2:1-3; Luke 24:49; John 14:16). In the present Dispensation , the Bible Teaches, the Son of God sits at the right hand of God the Father speaking on our behalf with Him in the Heavens, while at the same time, God the Spirit, convicts us of sin and leads us into all truth, on the earth (Acts 2:32, 33; John 16:8,13). During our Supplications, we are told to go to God the Father, in the name of God the Son, through the power of the God the Holy Spirit (John 16:23; Eph 6:18; Jude 1:20). Cultic or Christian?! The doctrine of Trinity is very important to grasp. On this doctrine we must stand, even though we may never fully understand. It is the very first model for Christian unity. Since the Trinitarian God is united, we too must stay united. At least for the cause of evangelism we should be willing to sink petty differences! The rejection or acceptance of the doctrine of Trinity is an acid test that would determine if a person is into a cult or mainstream biblical Christianity. Most cults would end up with the denial of the deity of Jesus Christ or of God the Father or of the Holy Spirit. Welcome Trinity! God the Father wants to dwell in you (John 14:23). God the Son wants to live in you (John 14:20, 23; 15:4-7; 17:23, 26). God the Holy Spirit wants to make your heart his residence (John 14:17). Would you welcome the Trinity to indwell in you?

At the Water Baptism of Jesus, we see the presence of the Trinity unmistakably and distinctly!
Again the God the Holy Spirit hovered over Mary to give her special grace while all of this happened (Luke 1:35). After having obeyed Jesus Commission to preach, the disciples returned overjoyed. On seeing this, the Son of God was full of the joy through God the Holy Spirit and thanked God the Father (Luke 10:21)! After the Crucifixion, God the Son, offered his own blood as a sacrifice to God the Father, through the Eternal Spirit (Heb 9:14). During the Church Inauguration (marked by the Baptism of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost), God the Father

THE TRUTH ABOUT TATTOOS

by Duke Jeyaraj

A report found in The Hindu Retail Plus edition of Hyderabad spoke about the coming on of tattooing in a big way in Hyderabad. The report went this way: Discard the stereotypes. Bikers, rock stars, bouncers, martial arts experts and individuals who walk on the wild side of life do not have a monopoly on sporting tattoos. Its the boy next door, the housewife, the yuppie in a Honda City, the wannabe Ms. Hyderabad, the retired banker and a surprising assortment of individuals who bravely tattoo a personal fashion statement onto their bodies making a lifelong commitment. Naveen, Amarnath and Nisha, the trio of tattoo artists, see a steady stream of individuals from different walks of life raring to get a tattoo... The most popular tattoo is a loved ones name. A somewhat cynical Naveen, cautions the love struck. Tattoos are permanent. Relationships might not outlast the tattoo (Feb. 13, 2009).
Saif, Beckham and the world of Tattoos! Bollywood Star, Saif Ali Khan, tattooed his hand with the letters Kareena in Devanagri script! Saifs muchtalked about tattoo was for full display at the rock show where Saif jammed with the popular rock band Parikrama (www.sify.com, 21 January 2008). All in all, David Beckham, the England Football Star, has 15 tattoos. He explained to CNNs Anderson Cooper why he likes the body art on 24 March 2008, reported cbsnews.com Victoria Beckham is furious with husband David Beckman after the soccer ace recently unveiled another tattoo. Victoria doesnt think David should have anymore tattoos and tried to stop him having another. She likes them but wants a bit of his skin to be left, but David went ahead with it anyway, a source told The Sun on Monday. The new ink is a Biblical proverb written in Hebrew which reads: My son, do not forget my teaching but keep my commands in your heart. It accompanies another Hebrew phrase on the same arm which translates: I am my beloved and my beloved is mine. (www.popcrunch.com, 30 December 2008). Victoria Beckham was furious with her husband for having exposed his skin to an overdose of tattoos. Would God be furious too? What if you went ahead and got yourself tattooed? Would God be upset? That is the question we will tackle now. When I studied the Bible (the final court of appeal for all matters of belief and behavior) on this subject, this is what I learnt. God does not want us to go about tattooing ourselves. Hear what God has to say for yourself: You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord (Lev 19:28). What could be the reason for this point blank command? Was it because God was anti-fashion? I dont think so. Then, what does God get in thrashing tattooing here? I think it is because God wants to protect us from getting infected from needles and other instruments that are used while tattoos are being inserted into our bodies. Better stick with the Biblical methods of evangelism! Quite a few of the laws that God gave Moses were given keeping in mind the safety and health of the people. Some might argue saying that there is a verse in the Bible that tells us that we must bind Gods laws as a sign on your hands (Dt 6:8). If binding Bible Verses onto your forearm is recommended, why not tattoo them onto you, they ask? That would be something far more permanent, something that is bath and soap-proof! What is more, if we tattooed Bible verses like John 10:10 and

The Days of Your Youth

20

John 14:6 onto our bodies, those would serve as evangelistic messages for those who need to hear it, wont they? If you were to ask me, it is better to stick to Biblical evangelistic methods such as reflecting Christ through life, preaching, healing, etc., rather than espouse a practice such as tattooing which the Bible explicitly asks us not to do for the sake of evangelism! Even though, tattooing a Bible Verse or Bible Theme onto your bodies can be considered a grey area, tattooing the name of your boyfriend or girlfriend like Saif Ali Khan has done isnt. It is tantamount to rank folly. As we know, tattoos stay visible on our bodies permanently. They will be on for life. But that is not true about relationships. There can be an unforeseen breakup. There can be a sudden death. And long after our partner has walked out from our lives we will still have the tattoos to give us bitter memories memories that can adversely affect our relationships with a future life partner. Since tattooing gets stuck with us for life, and life is so full of uncertainties (as the Bible teaches us directly in places such as in the book of James) we better avoid it altogether. Unplanned Tattoos! A wound mark on your body, incurred when you witnessed for Jesus in a hostile situation can become an unplanned tattoo! Paul had such a tattoo. Paul talks about such unplanned tattoos in Galatians 6:17! What a privilege it would be for us to have such thrashed for Christ tattoos taking shape on our bodies without us going after them!

PHELPS & FALLING IN LOVE TOO EARLY!

By Duke Jeyaraj

At the Beijing Games, the American swimmer Michael Phelps surpassed Mark Spitzs 1972 record of winning seven gold medals. Phelps, 23, with eight gold medals around his neck arguably stands as the greatest Olympian in history. He was asked this question: Who is this Hispanic-looking girl who is always seen with your mother? This was Phelps monastic minded reply: Just a friend, a very good friend. I dont have time to fall in love. Im never out of the pool. Maybe after the Olympics. But right now, there is no way I could go steady (excerpted from The Sunday Indian, 31 August 2008). From this part of the Spitz-beating Phelps interview, a point young people should not miss, breaks out at a spitting pace. It is this: Love-affairs when had at the wrong time can be timeconsuming, energy-consuming and a major distraction; so swim away furiously from too early love! Are you a student studying? Your major concentration should be on your studies and on excelling in extracurricular activities in your High School or College. Did you know, if you tried to catch two rabbits, both will escape! So let your focus be on what is more important - your studies, your spiritual life. Where is the time to fall in love? - You can ask in Phelps style! The Bible tells us, There is a time to love... (Eccl 3). Do not awaken love, until the time is right... is another Scriptural exhortation repeatedly coming from the book of Song of Songs. The right time or the ripe time to fall in love is definitely not in your student days when your emotions fluctuate and are mostly fleeting. A beautiful girl may wow you for a week. Then you sort of loose interest in her because of the arrival of yet another beauty from another High School/College through transfer! When you are older, your sine-curve-like emotions will become sort of steady. That is when you are more ready to prayerfully make good-for-the-whole-life-decisions like marriage. So hang on till you reach that age, till you attain that sort of maturity! Dont jump the gun! Be friends with everybody till that time. Make friends with people who often get neglected - the plain Janes of your class! They say, Marry in haste and repent at leisure! I think it is more apt to say, Fall in love in haste! Then repent at leisure! At the age of 17, Joseph ran from the wrong woman who was trying to have an affair with him. He ran from her because he knew it was a great sin to have sex with her before marriage. But what I also believe is that he ran from her also to save himself a lot of cell phone minutes, money in the purse and a lot of time to do what God called him then to do - which was to become the best servant in that entire household! Why not ape Joseph?!

JEROME TAYLOR & CONDOMS-IN-THE-TRASH-CAN REVIVAL!

by Duke Jeyaraj When I pickup a newspaper I turn the high and holy place, and also to the sports section first. And with him who is of a contrite and when I did that on 9 Feb. 2009, lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of one headline in the sports section the lowly, and to revive the heart of of The Times of India caught my the contrite(Isa 57:15). Yes - West Indian cricket is showing signs of revival. But what about the church of Jesus Christ? Is there a revival around the corner? Or is there a funeral around the corner? We must have revival in our churches. The revival must begin in our own personal lives. We must cry to the Lord: Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? (Psa 85:6). Revival begins with personal repentance. You cannot divorce revival from repentance. Isaiah postulated this pertinent point this way: For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in Oh for such a revival, a revival that changes the very moral climate of our cities, in our time - the condoms-and-porn-cds-in-thetrash-can kind of revival! DO YOU TALK LIKE DEEPIKA?

by Duke Jeyaraj Actress Deepika Padukone has done movies with two of the biggest stars in Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar. With Shah Rukh her movie was titled, Om Shanti Om. With Akshay Kumar her movie was labelled, Chandni Chowk to China. When she was asked in interviews about what was a better experience for her - acting with Shah Rukh or Akshay Kumar - she was at her brilliant best when it came to sounding politically correct. She mouthed, When Shah Rukh Khan acts, the nation rocks with him. And when Akshay Kumar acts, he rocks the nation! (Quoted in The Week, October 26, 2008). Are you smiling? Are you going tongue-incheek? Get politely unpolitical! Well, we do that sometimes. Yes, we too are politically correct when it comes to the cause of the Gospel. When our office friends over coffee comment -Jesus is one of the many good gurus we have on this planet! we just keep smiling. We may even nod our heads in agreement. We want to be politically correct. We dont politely and firmly assert that He claimed to be the only way to God and if anyone did not believe His claims they would die in their sins (John 14:6 and 8:24). The Rajkumar Story Evangelist Rajkumar Ramachandran is an evangelist whom God has used to preach in 43 countries to win many to the Lord. Bro. Rajkumar is widely known today for quoting accurately from the Bible left, right and centre, all from his Spirit-propelled memory, in a logical sequence during the course of his life-changing messages which he delivers to spellbound audiences in places as unlikely as a Sai Baba Temple in South Africa! This evangelist, who believed on Christ, even though he hailed from a Hindu Brahmin background, was saved because years ago, when one of his colleagues in Siemens, the company he worked refused to be politically correct about Jesus uniqueness. Here is what happened: Rajkumar joined Siemens in December 1974 and worked in Bangalore for five years. One of his colleagues, Nirmal Kumar, was a believer from a Catholic charismatic background. One day Nirmal casually told him that he believed Rajkumar was a religious and God-fearing person but that he needed to know that God loved him and that the only way to God was through Jesus and that there was no other way of salvation. Rajkumar was 26 years old and this was the first time he had heard anything like this. His first reaction was that Nirmal was a fanatic, and the best way of proving Nirmal wrong and himself right was to read the Bible and prove to him from the Bible that every religion was the same. So he got himself a Bible and secretly began to read it! (www.logosministries .info). To cut a long story short, this Rajkumar accepted the Lord following hours of daily Bible reading with an open mind. Today, the Lord is using him mightily! Think of what could have happened if his friend, Nirmal Kumar had been silent or had been politically correct about Jesus uniqueness it could be that Brother Rajkumar would be still unsaved! Disappointed Vs Doomed If you try and fail, you may be disappointed. But if you dont try at all, you will be doomed. That is a quote that I memorized as a school boy. So, instead of being politically correct, try and talk about the uniqueness of Jesus everywhere you go. You may upset some people. You may make some folks get mad at you. But who knows, you may sow the seed for a worldtrotting evangelist to get saved in the process! And of course, you would have allowed God to use you to save many souls from being doomed to eternal hell, along the way.

SPENDING HOURS IN FRONT OF THAT SCREEN?

by Shwetha Mabel Ninan
The percentage of overweight children and adolescents in the US (and in other countries like India) is growing. An increasing number of teens are leading sedentary lives, sitting for hours in front of their TVs and computer screens, mindlessly grazing on empty-calorie, high-fat foods. 90% of young people in the US spend three hours a day watching TV and the activity most often paired with television watching is eating: Youth report eating 14% of the time that they spend watching TV. Most teens see up to 20,000 commercials per year and nearly 89% of advertisements viewed were for products that were high in fat, sugar or sodium. Higher exposure to advertising (based on parents reports of viewing habits and advertising broadcast data) was related to greater consumption of advertised brands and energy-dense product categories (sugared breakfast cereals, confectionery, savory snacks, soft drinks and products from fast-food restaurants). Its no wonder then, that obesity is very strongly linked to TV-watching habits. Experts even believe that television viewing can affect the mental, social and physical health of young people because it sucks them into watching it instead of pursuing more creative activities. TV is not the only idiot-box. Teens spend at least an hour everyday on a computer for recreation in form of surfing websites, playing games, bonding through social networking websites, checking e-mail and chatting. Because watching TV is a relaxing activity, requiring low levels of concentration, teens tend to watch TV when theyre alone or bored. TV and internet provide entertainment, recreation, information and opportunities to socialize. The good news is that with careful planning and a strong commitment, you can help teens find all those and more by replacing bad habits with healthier ones. 1. Set a time limit for watching TV. 2. Check out the program guide for shows that interest your family and watch only those. 3. Rearrange your living room dont make TV the focus of the room. More than two-thirds of school-age (age 8 to 18) children have a TV in their bedroom. It seems radical but it might be wise to unplug TVs from the bedrooms. 4. Make a monthly Family Fun schedule. Pick one day during each week to have some family fun, outside. Visit a museum, aquarium or a zoo. If you cant go outdoors, invite friends over and play board games or jigsaw puzzles. Make room for more physically intense activities like trekking, long cycle rides, skiing once in a fortnight. Plan for your family to volunteer for community work. 5. Involve your family in household chores that require them to move and give them specific responsibilities like mowing the lawn, watering the garden, washing the car or cleaning up after dinner. Have a house-cleaning day and have everyone pitch in to do some thorough cleaning. 6. Enroll teens in activities that match their skills and interests like music, dance or painting. Encourage them to socialize with students in these classes. 7. Take teens along for grocery shopping. Its a good time to not only bond with them but also educate and inform them about health foods. You could also have them shop independently once youre confident that they will stick to the list. 8. Encourage your family members to keep a journal. 9. Audio books are a great way to read books while multi-tasking. 10. Encourage participation in events and contests. Remember to emphasize the importance of participation over winning. Since most events and contests have a deadline, it would force your teens to work towards a goal.

The Days of Your Youth

24

This kind of challenge motivates them to practice and train. 11. Do your research and sign your teen up for teen fitness classes that incorporate a variety of themes, exercise techniques, media and resistance equipment. Take care to see that the instructors know how to deal with teens and make them feel comfortable. 12. Last but not the least, be a better parent walk the walk while you talk the talk. If you are an obsessive TV watcher then maybe its time to begin with you. By making small but significant changes in our lifestyles, we can help teens turn off their TVs and tune in to more active and healthy lives. If you need more motivation, check out what these celebrities have to say Actor Lisa Kudrow: For many years I never allowed my son Julian to watch TV. I think it is unhealthy for young children and restricts their development. I have always encouraged him to spend time with friends or enjoy sports. The problem with TV is that people dump their children in front of it for eight, even 10 hours a day. But it is not healthy to the development of a

young mind. He is 10 now and his viewing is still strictly limited. Actor Kirstie Alley: Although my son True is 14 and daughter Lillie is 12, I have always restricted their TV watching time to two hours a night. And they are also allowed zero unmonitored computer time. And the computers are in the kitchen where we all are. The Bible gives me the best motivation in this regard. Let me leave you some Bible verses that have motivated me to curtail my time before the Screen be it the TV Screen or the Computer screen and increase my time with Him who is unseen, God: Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Eph 5:16,17. Rise up, you women who are at ease, hear my voice; you complacent daughters, give ear to my speech Isaiah 32:9. What is God telling me through this verse? This: Rise up from your cozy, laziness-inducing, couch in front of the TV you have been glued to for hours together, pick up a Bible, and read it unhurriedly to hear My voice! Is He telling you also to do the same thing?

(Shwetha Mabel Ninan keeps using her dance skills and writing skills to witness for the Lord and lives presently in the US with her husband Pramod, who works for Delloitte).

THE AUDI & CALVARY

by Duke Jeyaraj
The Audi A6 Cars advertisement punch line, I thought, was very cool. Here it is: Makes sense. In every sense! One look at that cars picture made me recall here was a car that did make sense in every sense. It charmed my eyes no car looked so drop-dead gorgeous. It had sophisticated features such as the Audi Parking System with Rearview Camera, 13-speaker Bose System and Adaptive Air Suspension. These features appealed to my mind. Meanwhile , another thought hit me. It was this: Only the Lord Jesus actually makes sense in every sense. He came to this world to die for us, sinners. And that makes perfect sense too. Here is how: Because he is God 100% who is beyond the dimension of time he could die and thereby take up the punishment for the sins of all humans of all time. Because he is human 100% he could die and thereby become your substitute and mine. Because he never committed any sin, the only one to do in the history of the planet, he alone qualifies to be our Savior from sin. Because He came back to life after dying a cruel death, there is perfect sense in his own claim that he was God (God has the power to give life and take it back, right!). In fact, it is only because Christ makes such striking sense in every sense, the Bible tells us be ready with answers to give to those who ask if Christ makes sense (I Pet. 3:15).

THE DOUGHNUT HOLE

The story of Florussel Sathya in her own words

Life without Jesus is like a doughnut, there is a hole in the middle of your heart, I sang with the rest of the children in the Sunday school. I loved to sing so I sang. I
couldnt figure out what it meant, neither did I try to find out. Do it for the sake of doing it At the Sunday school, Pushpa Aunty would tell us wonderful stories during the class. She once told us a story about an old woman who would travel around the city in a cycle rickshaw and while travelling she would pray for the people she would see on the streets. I made it a habit to do so. I thought I was a good Christian by doing so. But I soon realised that I did it for the sake of doing it. Hole in my heart During college years, certain happenings got me very depressed. It was then that I realised how a hole in the heart felt like. I had every materialistic thing, yet there was something missing. I searched for answers, but got nowhere. I attended prayer meetings and fervently asked God for answers. But the spark in me didnt last long. Bitter experiences I was back to what I was, just concentrating on my studies and I joined a certificate course. We had to do a project and we had to choose our partners. One of my classmates said she wanted to join me. But eventually she didnt show interest. Since it was my project as well I went ahead, worked hard and completed it. But when the certificates were given, she scored more than me, though apparently she hardly did a thing. That made me very bitter. I vented out my feeling to God and asked Him why I even to work hard when other people get the credit. I questioned God, Do you really love me? If yes, why dont you show it? Why do you favour people who dont even believe in You? Yet, I got no answers. Then I remembered reading in a book, that God answers prayers differently.

Getting into the Benny Hinn Choir There was this Benny Hinn meeting planned and the choir selections had started. My cousin who had participated in the meetings in Mumbai told me how all the choristers felt the touch of the Holy Spirit when Pastor Benny Hinn stretched his hand towards them. So I prayed an honest prayer - Lord, if you have some plan for me in your kingdom let me be selected. I had planned to sing - shout to the Lord. But during the auditions I started singing As the deer panteth for the water so my soul longeth after you. Both, I and my sister were selected. My sister was selected for Soprano, while I was selected for Soprano High. I checked the list and very few people were singing for Soprano high. I was elated. The meetings were eventually cancelled. But my spirits were still high. A new mag on the table I had the strong urge to do something for God, but didnt know where to start. I kept praying asking God how to go about it. One day when I returned from college, there was this magazine on the table The Days of Your Youth. I had never seen it before. I started reading it. When I finished I knew this was it. This was something I could relate to. So full of life. In the magazine, they mentioned saying they wanted volunteers. God-given desire I mailed Duke anna and Evan akka the couple behind this magazines production -

immediately. I told them that Im not a strong Christian and if they dont mind me volunteering, I could gladly be of some help. I had even mentioned saying that I had the strong urge to do something for God, but Im still not sure if I should do it. I still remember what they replied back. They said Any desire to do something to expand Gods Kingdom comes from God. Never doubt this. Getting a good job On December 1st 2006 (World AIDS day), Duke and Evan were going to distribute tracts at one of the citys plush multiplex. I told them I would join then in the afternoon as I had an interview in the morning. I was still in the final year of my college. It was my very first interview for a full time job. When I went there the HR told me that they got all the people they wanted. I sighed. She then told me that maybe I could do the test and if I fared well, they may call me in future. I knew this was a nice way of rejecting but

said I could fit in 3 different teams and my work was very good. Then he took my interview. I usually get tongue tied during interviews. But all he asked me were my hobbies and whether I mind doing other roles as well. I was selected. He asked me to stay back for an induction which was in the evening. Now I didnt know what to do. I had told Duke and Evan that I would go with them to distribute tracts. I immediately called up Duke and told him my situation. He was very happy and told me not to worry and stay back for the induction. Called a spoilsport Meanwhile, I had started uploading articles to the blogs and video shooting Dukes messages. God was using my talents. My friends mocked me as I never attended any parties or go to theaters with them. I didnt attend my freshers and farewell party as well. I was called a boring person and they would tell me Go, get a life. I preferred watching certain clean movies at home and parties, somehow I didnt feel like going. On the farewell party I was working in office and when my friends asked me to go with them; I said I didnt want to. They called me a spoilsport. I was very hurt and I prayed asking God why I was like this. The party was not organized by college and the students got into trouble for playing loud music and they had to face the wrath in college later. Twenty and Thrilled!

decided to do the test. I prayed, Lord, you said ask anything in your name and if I believe I will have it. Ok, God I know I will get this job. But when? Once I had completed the test, it was passed on for evaluation to the manager. I was going to leave and he called me in. He

This job was perfect for me. I got promoted to the role of a team leader in 6 months and

The Days of Your Youth

27

then I was given the additional role of a Quality Analyst. All this by the age of 20. I could see God working in my life. My dad had taught me to be punctual. Not the military punctuality to be on time but the Christian punctuality to be before time. My mom earnestly kept praying. Both of them are very committed to their jobs and my sister and I acquired that from them. No compromise! My superiors in office used to tell others that I should be their role model. There were work politics also. I had a group of people who just couldnt tolerate me. They felt that young people shouldnt be promoted. After I had completed my work, they would change the data and then complain about me. I always saved an extra copy in my system, so it didnt work out for them. I wouldnt attend poojas or allow them to smear vermillion on my system. This enraged them more and they complained saying I didnt have team spirit. My manager called me in and called them as

well. He said the commitment I had towards work was only because I was a Christian and he supports my stand. Isnt that what God tells us? A gradual change There was a gradual change in my life, my faith and my belief. Volunteering in ministry and being a kind person doesnt give me a pass to heaven, I understood. The key was to have a personal relationship with God through the Lord Jesus. I had heard the term born-again and only had a vague idea about it. And I wasnt too sure if I was bornagain. It was after a conversation with Duke over the phone that I really understood what being bornagain was. I understood it was a living, daily, deep relationship with Jesus who died for my sins on the Cross. Being born-again, I understood, was not about doing ministry. There came a point in my life when I asked Jesus to come into my heart and life and I started relating with him as a friend. Boy, it was exciting!

Gods got a plan for me! I quit my job after 2 years of working. I knew God had other plans for my future. Its time I do my higher studies in social work and this is the right time. Jeremiah 29:11 (For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope) kept flashing across my mind before I put down my papers. I got the best relieving letter; it wasnt the usual copy paste letter. It was what they actually thought about me. There is no turning back in my life from now on. Ive learnt a lot from my past experiences and I know not what the future holds for me but I know who holds my future.

Like this Mag? Would you like to... Would you like to distribute this magazine in your city, church, college, corporate office? Write to us then, at emailduke@gmail.com or call /message us at +91 -9441352433.

A SL UMDOG SCENE AND BIBLE MEDIT ATION SLUMDOG MEDITA

by Duke Jeyaraj Oscar-winning movie, Slumdog Millionaire, has a little boy wading through human excreta to get the autograph of Amitabh Bachchan, so reported Outlook magazine (26 January 2009). After I read that I thought to myself: If someone would be so excited to wade through human excreta (yuck!) to fish out something as trivial as a piece of paper with Amitabh Bachchans autograph, how much more thrilled should I get to wallow into Gods Autograph, the Bible, which is the opposite of human excreta in the infinite sense, to fish out precious-as-gold life-transforming truths! If the Bible is more desirable than fine gold, should I not spend unhurried time in it by mining life-lessons from it (Psa 19:10)? If the Bible is as lip-smacking as honey, should I not let its message linger in my mind, long after Im done with my dawn devotions, as I would let honeys sweet taste linger in my mouth (Psa 19:10)? We continue to offer counseling services to youth who write to us at emailduke@gmail.com. Shockingly frank emails land in our inbox from time to time. Of late, we received two emails from two different young women who were struggling with the habit of porn-watching and masturbation. When young people want to meet us to have heart-chat about their life problems, we oblige them. The number of hits on our website, TheDaysOfYourYouth.com, so well managed by Santosh William, has crossed 43,000. There is a hungry young world out there waiting to lap up Bible Truths wrapped around contemporary events which is what you get to see in that website! Pray that God would continue to use us to move the movie-mad generation, away from Gehenna (Hell) and point them toward his Grace, in the days to come!

Your emails helps us sail on!

The encouraging emails that we received from folk around the world helps us to sail on in our ministry path of grabbing the Google Generation from going to Gehenna. Here are a few of those emails that we received, published below: Dear Duke, My nephew who is in Dallas sent me this link. I just heard you (through your youtube.com upload, Sex Outside of Marriage: Preity Zinta Vs Bible) and wanted to say thats the way to go. Sexual temptation is what is pulling many down these days (believers and otherwise). I always thought its one of the oldest but most potent weapons of the Devil. But due to different reasons its not been dealt with openly and I guess many struggle with it alone. Messages like this would help many people take the right decisions at the most vulnerable moment in their lives. So keep going and we would be praying for you. I pray many more would rise up like you and bring forth a holy generation for HIS glory. A Bangalorean . Duke, I have already completed reading December 2008 issue (Issue No.15) of The Days of Your Youth from cover to cover. May God grant you increasing wisdom to design more and more reading material for young minds. Im so glad I can lay hands on material that is contemporary. It has the international flavour but is yet Indian in essence. The dominant trait is of course it being CHRIST centered. An Indian Woman living in the US. Dear Duke, People (here in New Zealand) say these messages of yours (in the CD format) are awesome An Indian Student in Auckland, New Zealand. Lovely yet Lonely - Is that You?!

Sipping coffee, I glanced at the newspaper. My eyes panned the page. My eyes zeroed in on a small news piece beside the bubbly picture of Nicole Kidman, the Hollywood actress in one corner. The article announced, Lonely Oscar night! Sounds interesting! I thought. I read what was printed below: Actress Nicole Kidman has revealed that she felt big but lonely after winning an Academy award for her role in The Hours in 2003. The 40-year old said she felt very upset that she did not have anyone to celebrate the moment with. I felt big. It felt lonely and big. You are in a hotel and youre like OK, well, Im sitting in this big suite with an Oscar, and I still dont have a life. What is wrong with me, Contactmusic.com quoted her saying. It hit home that I needed to get a life: who do I jump on the bed with, and celebrate with, and order pancakes with. That was painful, not having that person to share it with, she said (Page 14, The Hindu Vijayawada Edition, September 10, 2007). As soon as I read that several questions boggled my mind and bothered my heart. Here they are: Why would a lovely lady with loads of cash and lots and lots of fans feel so lonely? Why would a pretty, planet-trotting actress be in such acute distress? Why would this Oscar winner who lived with gay abandon feel so abandoned? I turned to my Bible Gods roadmap for the journey called life - for the answer. It told me that we become lonely utterly lonely - when we sin against God. Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, Prophet Isaiah writes in the Bible, inspired by the Holy Spirit (Isa 59:2). Yes, our sins drive a heart-cutting wedge between us and our Maker and Duke Jeyaraj leave us lonely and empty. Our sins eventually will take us to the loneliest place of them all eternal, ever-burning hell, a place God has marked out for folks who have decided, stubbornly and finally, never to enjoy his company, the Bible warns (Rev 22:15). But the Goodnews, the Bible announces is this: Jesus, God in human flesh and bone, the only sinless person who lived on this earth, experienced languishing loneliness as a punishment for our sins and we dont have to be lonely any longer (Isaiah 53:5,6). That is why Jesus voluntarily died a cruel and brutal death for you and I on the Cross. The sins of all people of all time were laid upon him while he hung there for six hours one Friday two thousand years ago. God, the Holy Father of Jesus, cannot wink at sin. So when Jesus his Son became the planets sin-bearer while he hung bloodied on the Cross, he turned his face away from him and forsook him. Yes indeed, Jesus was truly lonely at that point. That why he cried out, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? hanging on the Cross (Math 27:46). That loneliness experience was so heart-crushing yet he went through it for you the lonely you! Today, if you will repent from your sins and trust in the Alive-again Jesus you will never again be lonely! Jesus says to you now, I will not leave you (feeling lonely like) orphans I will come to you! (John 14:18). The only God who came in search of you when you were still lost and lonely is Jesus, the Bible reveals (Luke 19:10; Rom 5:8). Would you invite this unique Jesus into your life now to discover for life, a friend closer than a brother (one of the many sweet names for Jesus found in the Bible)? Would you do it NOW?
