A challenging opportunity exists with the Métis Nation of Ontario Georgian Bay Métis Community Council (GBMC) as Receptionist/Administrative Assistant. This temporary, full-time position starts as soon as possible. The position is based at the MNO Office in Midland. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The wage is $13/hour. Funding for this training position requires that the candidate must be Métis. This position reports to the Community Council President. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:        Professionally greet and direct all visitors/clients as appropriate provide appropriate responses to general inquiries, direct clients to other staff office locations Provide basic information or referrals to other MNO programs and services (local and provincial) Administrative duties, use of standard office equipment (photocopier, fax, mailing machine) Assist with correspondence: maintain tracking logs, prepare letters, send/receive Purolator packages, distribute mail, prepare mail outs Physical effort is minimal with some requirement to occasionally move tables and chairs or other relatively light office equipment (under 25 lbs). The incumbent is frequently on the telephone attending to inquiries while at the same time performing clerical and administrative support duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS       Education in Business or related program or minimum 2 years’ experience in receptionist and office administration Proficiency in the use of computers (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, etc.) Excellent customer service and communication skills Committed to excellence and teamwork Ability to learn at a relatively quick pace Proven ability to multi-task with positive outcomes

REQUIREMENTS     Knowledge of The Métis Nation of Ontario, as well as programs and services Experience with organizing and scheduling an asset Ability to work well under pressure of multiple demands and timelines Familiarity with MNO culture, history and services
