First Draft Certified Career Development Practitioner/Professional (CCDP) Ontario, Canada If a candidate is in possession of Career Development Certification from

another Province, CCDP Certification will automatically be granted. Agreed on by quorum of the Stewardship Group - January 2, 2013
Certification Criteria Category Minimum formal education and previous experience Criteria Tier 1: Candidate (Cannot yet use CCDP after name.) Minimum requirements: A) 1 year certificate + <2 years related experience, or B) 2 years experience + enrollment in related program Tier 2: Experienced CCDP (Can use CCDP after name). Minimum requirements (will also include a points system for determining experience and competencies): A) 1 year related certificate + 4 years related experience, or B) 2 year related diploma + 3 years related experience, or C) Unrelated 3-4 year degree + 3 years related experience, or D) Related 3-4 degree + 2 years related experience, or E) Unrelated Masters degree + 2 years related experience, or F) Related Masters degree + 1 year related experience. All of the above require the mandatory courses as well. Tier 3: Master CCDP A) Minimum 6 years at the Tier 2 level + extra competencies to be proven + extra points required. For example, extra points may come from being published, mentoring, and presenting at conferences. Grandfathering Option available to CDPs currently working in the field for the next 3 years. Requires 5 years experience, mandatory courses, proven competencies. Will be a point-based system. Content Areas: (not necessarily separate courses) (1) Ethics (2) Career and Employment Counselling/Development Theory (3) Case management (4) Job search strategies Membership in an approved Professional Career Development Association is required.

Certification Criteria Category Demonstrate Proficiency in several competencies of the Canadian Standards and Guidelines for Career Development Practitioners

Criteria Demonstrate proficiency in core competencies, through qualifying work experience related to: Direct client services related to career and/or employment Indirect client services related to leadership and/or research in the career development field Final decision on the specific wording of competencies and nature of evidence required for each is to be determined. Professional Development Requirement for Certification Renewal Certification Application and Renewal Fee

Initial certification fee recommended (but up to RFP winner): $150 + GST. Renewal fee recommended: $125 + GST every 3 years to renew. Tier 2: References3 professional references from the field including 1 supervisory/management reference. Tier 3: Sponsorship by someone who is certified Tier 3.

We are an elected group of volunteers voted in on July 18, 2011 to advance the Career Development profession by developing a certification model. Vision: To advance the career development field in Ontario, through development of a professional accreditation system and selection of an overseeing body. Mission: To draft and circulate an Ontario-based certification process for feedback and ultimately grassroots approval. Further, to select an overseeing body to pilot and implement the approved process. Goals: By Jan. 2013: To complete a draft accreditation process, identify stakeholders, and elicit stakeholder feedback. By June 2013: To recommend, circulate, and obtain approval for an Ontario-based certification model. By Jan. 2014: To recruit and select an organization via Request for Proposals to pilot and oversee this process moving forward.
