The San Francisco Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta wishes you a happy and healthy 2013! 2012 was a great year for our chapter and we hope to build on the momentum weve gained over the past year. First and foremost, I would like to introduce myself: my name is Erin De Martini and I am the 2012 2014 San Francisco Alumnae Chapter President. Below, you will meet the new Executive Board and Officers for our chapter. These women were transitioned in the later part of 2012 and have already been working hard to plan exciting new events for our members, as well as building a stronger relationship with our local collegiate chapters at the University of San Francisco and UC Berkeley. At the conclusion of 2012, we also launched our new website! We have created a better online experience for our members to stay updated on all of our events and learn how to get more involved with our local collegiate

chapters. I encourage you to check it out I also want to take this opportunity to inform you of a recent update from Headquarters regarding per capita fees. Effective January 1, 2013, Grand Council implemented an increase in the annual alumnae per capita fee to $30 per member to continue to fund the growth of our alumnae programming and chapter support. Because of this increase, you will see an adjustment in our 2013 dues to $50 total so we can continue to provide our own chapter programming. Please feel free to email me at for any questions or concerns regarding this change. Thank you for your continued support of the San Francisco Alumnae chapter. I look forward to meeting you at one of our upcoming events! Loyally, Erin De Martini, Eta Lambda

Season of Orange

The Ever-Popular Fall Pumpkin Carving Gets a Bite of Giants Fever

Each fall, Thetas from across the city take Trader Joes, Safeway, and yes, even a few pumpkin patches by storm to prepare for the annual fall favorite: Young Alumnae Pumpkin Carving. Alumnae member Emily Brown, Zeta Rho, graciously opened up her home once again for the 4th annual carving festivities, pumpkin treats, and holiday libations. With the San Francisco Giants World Series victory on the horizon, this years event had an especially Orange & Black tone with many women choosing to put a Giants spin on their Halloween celebration. We were happy to have a number of new alumnae members join us for the event and look forward to seeing them at even more events in the future.

Opportunities for Involvement

Need a little bit more Theta in your life? Get involved with our Alumnae chapter. In addition to our Chapter Board, there are a number of ways to get involved with our organization. The levels of commitment range to fit your schedule: Database Chair: Member of the Executive Board who works closely with the Membership Chair and President to maintain our member files - 1 hour per week. If interested, email Erin De Martini - Host a Kite Night: Have a new restaurant youve always wanted to try? A service project youve been wanting to work on? An especially San Francisco experience youd like to share with your sisters? Volunteer to host an event! While our officers love planning events, we are always open to suggestions or guest hosts to make sure that our events interest our members. If you have anything in mind, please contact our Social Director Bailey Haws at Vol. 3 Issue 1 Page 3

Tradition of Giving

San Francisco Alumnaes Annual Adopt-A-Family

Each holiday season, it is important for our chapter not only to appreciate our friends, family, Theta sisters, and gifts we have in our lives but to give back to our community. Our chapter has annual tradition to sponsor a Bay Area family in need though the Compass Family Services Adopt-A-Family Program. This year, our chapter sponsored a family of six. Thanks to the generous donations of twenty three of our Alumnae members, we were able to donate a total of $723 in gift cards, toys, and even a new mattress. This effort was thanks in large part to the hard work and organization of our Philanthropy Chair, Emily Brown, Zeta Rho. On behalf of our chapter, Emily would like to thank all of our members for their generosity and caring for those less fortunate during the holidays.

Tis The Season of Sisterhood

Young Alumnae Cookie Exchange and Holiday Party

This year, the San Francisco Theta Alumnae had a lot to celebrate. Our annual holiday party was hosted, once again, at the beautiful home of member Kay Auciello. Additionally, our young alumnae group participated in the annual Holiday Cookie Exchange hosted by new member Shaina Daswani.
