Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced

Services is a free, easy-to use version of the SQL Server Express data platform. This edition includes an advanced graphical management tool and powerful reporting features. Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2; Windows Server 2008; Windows Vista; Windows Vista Service Pack 1; Windows XP Service Pack 2; Windows XP Service Pack 3 32-Bit Systems: Computer with Intel or compatible 1GHz or faster processor (2 GHz or faster is recommended. Only a single processor is supported) 64-Bit Systems: 1.4 GHz or higher processor (2 GHz or faster is recommended. Only a single processor is supported) Minimum of 512 MB of RAM (1 GB or more is recommended) 1 GB of free hard disk space

Step 1: Download and install Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1. Step 2 Download and install Windows Installer 4.5. . Step 3 Download and install Windows PowerShell 1.0. Step 4 Download SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services
Note: SQLEXPRADV_x64: supports installation onto only 64-bit operating systems SQLEXPRADV_x86: supports installation onto both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.

1. . Double click the file (SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe, for example) to enter

Installation Center. In Installation step, select New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation.

2. Setup Support Rules runs to identify possible problems and confirm the installation of prerequisite software. Failures must be corrected before setup can continue.

3. Specify the edition of SQL Server 2008 to install. Click Next to continue.

4. Accept the license terms. Select Next to continue.

5. Setup support files runs.

6. Select features to install.

7. Instance configuration. If choose Default Instance, the SQL Server name is PCName\SQLEXPRESS, if choose Named Instance, the SQL Server name is PCName\Named Instance.

8. Review the disk space summary for the SQL Server features selected.

9. Specify account for SQL Server service and choose Automatic startup type for SQL Server Browser.

10. Specify the Reporting Service configuration mode.

11. Specify Error and Usage Reporting options.

12. Running rules to determine if the installation process will be blocked.

13. Verify the SQL Server 2008 features to be installed.

14. Installation progress.

15. Installation completed.

Step 5: Configuration in SQL Server 2008 and AccuMark

1. Open SQL Server Configuration Manager.

2. In SQL Server Service, make sure both SQL Server Browser and SQL Server are running. Otherwise, right click to Start.

3. In SQL Server Network Configuration, have to Enabled Named Pipes and TCP/IP. Then restart SQL Service Services to make the changes effect.

4. Run SQL Server Management Studio

5. Check the SQL Server name, specify the Authentication mode to connect.

6. If it is connected successfully, the Object Explorer is displayed on the left.

7. In Windows Firewall, add Exception applications: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQLSERVER\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\sqlbrowser.exe

8. In AccuMark SQL Support, type the SQL Server name, specify the Authentication mode. Click Test button to make sure the SQL Connectivity Test completes successfully.

9. Open AccuMark Explorer, the SQL Server name is displayed.
