The following have been stolen after 5 p.m. An owner’s manual, a vehicle registration, and insurance cards were stolen from a parked car in a Beechwood Road residential driveway. A Garman (GAR-MIN) GPS and a baby bouncer were taken from a car on Morris Avenue. A car parked in a Canoe Brook Parkway residential driveway had an Ipod touch and five dollars in change stolen. Also in the same area, a coach wallet with gift cards worth three hundred and fifty dollars inside was stolen. Some vehicles have been reported broken into with out anything being taken. 1 1 1 1 1

Police are searching for a man who allegedly struck his estranged wife in the head with a gun today near Morristown Memorial Medical Center. The incident took place around noon and the man is possibly suicidal and is considered armed and dangerous, said Chief Peter Demnitz (DEMNITS). The hospital was never place on lockdown. It is opened and accepting patients. The search did lead to a lockdown at a local high school. Hanover Park High School in East Hanover went into to lockdown a little before 1 p.m. because there was a suspicious vehicle is the area. The man wanted for the assault in Morristown was driving that particular vehicle, said Captain James Monaghan (MON-A-GAN). The lockdown has been lifted because the vehicle is no longer around the school. 2 2 2 2 2

In National News… Caleb (KAY-LIB) Moore, snowmobiler, died a week after a crash during the X Games in Aspen Colorado. Because of this, there has been new safety concerns for the X Games. The twenty-five year old was attempting a back flip and he couldn’t rotate the snowmobile enough to land properly. The four hundred and fifty pound snowmobile came crashing down on his head and chest when the skis dug into the slope. Moore was attempting move that he had landed several times and he was a four-time X Game medalist. But risk still remains at its highest even when the world’s best compete. ESPN, which organizes and televises the games, say the X Games have worked on their safety issues for a long time. When an airplane captain lost consciousness, an Alaska Airlines flight was diverted to Portland, Oregon. On Thursday night, Flight 473, the incident occurred during the trip from Los Angeles to Seattle. The first officer has to take over and fly the plane to the closest airport. Before medical personnel could arrive, a doctor on the plane treated the pilot, who was suffering from the flu or food poisoning. On board, there were 116 passengers and five crewmembers. Even thought the airline did not release the name of the captain, he had been flying with Alaska for twenty-eight years. 4 4 4 4 4

Now in some school foods, there will be limits set on calories, fat, and sugar by the government. Today, the proposal called “competitive foods” was released. This proposal does not apply to foods sold in after-school fundraisers, bakes sales, or concessions at sporting events or after school activities. It only applies to foods that are not apart of meals served at school. Snack items sold must have less than 200 calories per serving. As far as drinks go, all school should sell water, unflavored lowfat milk, flavored or unflavored fat-free milk, soy alternatives, one hundred percent fruit or vegetable juice, and calorie-free sodas. 5 5 5 5 5

In International News… In China, a truck carrying fireworks for the Lunar New Year celebrations exploded. It destroyed part of the elevated highway and sent vehicles plummeting 100 feet to the ground in Mianchi (ME-AN-CHEE) County. The blast threw debris and shattered windows of trucks in a nearby truck stop. The cause of the explosion is still unknown. A spokesman from the communist party says that five people were confirmed dead and eight hospitalized. Fireworks are a huge part of the Chinese Lunar New Year Festivities. Fireworks are made, shipped, and stored in large quantities in unsafe conditions to meet the demands. 6 6 6 6 6

In Northwestern Pakistan, a suicide bomber detonated his explosives as worshippers were leaving their Friday prayer. Police said, the explosion killed twenty-two people and wounded more than thirty. A policeman that was guarding the mosque was killed and another one was injured. The attack took place outside a Shiite mosque in the town of Hangu (HAN-GOO). This area has experienced clashes between the Sunni (SOO-NEE) and Shiite communities. Several small shops were damaged by the blast and had shrapnel in the walls. No group has taken responsibility for the attack, but it is thought to be the work of the Taliban.

In Sports… What a great night for the Penguins….. They won against the New York Rangers on Thursday night. Tomas Vokoun (VO-KOON) blocked twenty-eight shots and the Penguins scored on their first shot of the first and third periods. The score was three to zero. The New Jersey Devils are set to play the Pittsburgh Penguins tomorrow at one o’clock. 8 8 8 8 8

In Entertainment… I know you’re getting tired of hearing about her, but Lindsay Lohan is in some trouble again. After claiming she was too sick to fly cross-country from New York City to Los Angeles to appear before a judge, Lindsay Lohan got on a last-minute flight to the west coast. She feared that a warrant would be issued for her arrest if she didn’t show up. She and her mother left Long Island’s JFK Airport on the last scheduled flight and landed at LAX just after midnight. That’s cutting it very close before her 8:30 a.m. mandatory pre-trial hearing in Santa Monica. 10 10 10 10 10
