General Technical requirement For TE : 1. Scope Prefabricated shelters covered by this specification are designed for specified design conditions and for easy assembly and erection at site. They can be used to provide office and residential accommodation at difficult locations or as a temporary measure even in plains. Toilet Blocks have also been included to supplement the main shelters. The shelters have two options of design wall thickness i.e.80/60mm panels for walls with false ceiling & partition wall shall be 40mm thick panel. The design parameters for the two options have specified. Though the designs covered by the drawings have been checked for structural stability at design conditions, the tenderers shall be responsible for suitability of the shelters offered for the design conditions. For this purpose, they may get the designs Verified/modified on their own and also strengthen of the structure as considered acceptable if necessary. Details of such modifications shall be clearly brought out in the offer. The structures comprise of light weight wall panels with polyurethane foam (PUF) insulation encased between pre-painted galvanized steel sheets. The panels are assembled on a steel structure comprising of steel footing, columns, truss, floor panels, false ceiling and pre-painted galvanized steel sheet roof. The electrical wiring & fittings as well as plumbing and sanitary fittings have been included in the scope of supply. Erection of the shelters at site has been kept optional as some of the indentors may like the same to be organized through their own resources. (NOTE:-Glazing in Verandah is an Standard fittment for 60/80 mm design Shelter.) Reference to Indian Standards wherever made in the specifications or tender schedule will be deemed to be to the latest version of the Standards. DDOs may while ordering twenty or more shelters, ask for a pilot sample of the prefabricated structure to be assembled at manufacturer premises against the order to be jointly inspected by the representative of the DDO & inspection authority before commencing manufacture of bulk supply. 2. The colour of paint to be used for painting the structures shall also be specified. Panel Manufacturing process: The PUF insulated panels will be manufactured using high pressure dispensing machine of required capacity to inject specified amount of PUF chemical mixture into the cavity of full panel in one shot in case of wall and roof panel and in three shots in case of floor panel in a duration not exceeding 25 sec. This is to ensure that the liquid PUF mixture is injected into the cavity before the foaming reaction starts so that the insulation core of panel is formed in one piece & provides desired structural and physical properties. The PUF insulation shall have bulk density of 40kg/cum and shall conform to PUR 1 Grade of IS: 12436/1988(reaffirmed 2006). The dispensing machine should be equipped with a PLC controlled panel for monitoring and controlling the injection rate to ensure specified uniform density requirements. The iso-cyanide and polyol liquid components used for insitu process of providing polyurethane foam insulation in the panels shall be supported by manufacturer test certificates correlating & indicating batch numbers, date of manufacture and expiry dates. For injecting the PUF chemical mixture into the panel as above, the panel shall be assembled with all the components in a hydraulic press between heated aluminium platens so as to attain the desired finish, bonding and structural properties. All panels shall be manufactured in single piece as per approved panel layout drawings using the above materials and manufacturing process. Plywood: The plywood for the floor panels shall be ISI marked synthetic resin bonded grade BWR type AA, 19 mm thick (11 ply confirming to IS:303/1989) OR PUF Panel Manufacturing Plant with continuous paneling high pressure dispensing unit capable of forming a panel with puf insulation with Hot platen rotating Press with requisite heating heated platens to allow smooth flow of PUF chemical mixture when it is spread over for forming of panels so as to attain the desired finish.

Fasteners and Fittings: Fasteners and fittings of mild steel shall be supplied unless otherwise specified in and shall be fixed where required. Fastening means will be provided for the items to be fitted at the time of erection. 10% spare nuts, bolts, and washers will be provided per shelter. The fasteners supplied shall conform to relevant BIS specification. Tolerances: The length of members and overall dimensions shall have tolerances of +/-25mm up to 3mtrs dimensions, +/-40mm on 3mtrs to 6mtrs dimensions and +/-50mm on 6mm and above dimensions. All steel and other sections shall have rolling tolerances. The panel thickness shall have +/-2mm tolerance. Other dimensions shall have a tolerance of +/5%. Finish: All steel members will be given two coats of red oxide zinc chromate primer by the manufacturer in the factory premises before dispatch. The steel members shall then be painted with two coats of synthetic enamel paint of approved shade at site. Supply shall include all consumables for this purpose. All paint materials used shall be of reputed makes namely Jenson and Nicholson/Berger/Asian Paints/ ICI. 5. Construction Details (a) Steel Footing: The steel footing will be made of fabricated steel section. Bottom plate of footing will be of 6mm thick MS plate of size 600x600mm. 8Nos. of triangular stiffener of 5mm thick MS plate of size 150 x 300mm will be provided and welded to vertical plate. Four Nos. vertical plates 300 x 300 x5mm will be provided and welded over the bottom plate. Four Nos. of ISA 50 x 50 x 6mm thick 1200mm long having slot for adjustment of height will be provided these ISA will be reinforced by 40x4mm MS flat at every 300mm c/c. MS plate of size 320x320x6 mm will be provided and welded on the top of these Four Nos.ISA 50x50x6mm cleat will be used for jointing of plate girder 150mm with footing with the help of suitable nut and bolts. Floor panel will be joined with the steel base frame with the help of 10x100mm & 10x125mm counter sunk nut bolt for 60mm & 80mm design respectively. Steel footing shall be welded by means of MIG welding. The arrangement is also shown in the attached drawing. b) Base Frame: The steel footings are fixed to each other with the help of solid web built up I-Section having 3mm thick MS Plate as web and 6mm thick MS Plate as flanges in size 150mm fixed to the steel footing with the help of MS Angle of size 50 x 50 x 6mm suitable nut and bolts. Insulated floor panel will be joined with this grid of steel base frame work with the help of 10 x 100mm and 10 x 125mm counter sunk nut bolts for 60 & 80mm design respectively.
