POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Positive attitude is one of the most important things you need to practice throughout your life. The only problem is that a lot of people think they know what positive attitude is -- but instead are really practicing wishful attitude. Here's the difference. Wishful attitude is saying something like, "I know things will get better. I'm sure I'll get a better job. Things will work out in the end. Eventually I'll meet someone I really like. I just have to keep trying. I'm bound to make more money -- I just know it." These are all examples of wishful attitude! Positive attitude is more than just something you do when things go wrong or when you try to correct a situation. Positive attitude is a way of living, it's a practice, it's a technique that you need to incorporate into your daily life if you have any intentions of changing things or accomplishing your goals. You can't suddenly start and then stop when things get better. Positive attitude requires that you get rid of all your negative thought patterns and create a new belief system. There isn't a book out there that can do this for you. Why? Because you have to train your mind to work differently. Learning the art of positive attitude from a book would be like learning to play football or do aerobics from a book. You'll get some great ideas -- but you need to practice, train and work with someone who can show you how to throw or catch a football properly. You need to have someone train you so that you do your aerobics properly and don't form bad habits or try to cut corners.

Here's an example of what some people think is positive attitude. A person may lose their job and then says: "Oh I know I'll get a job, I have to. I'm just going to take my time and I'll get a job soon. " That's being optimistic -- but it's not necessarily incorporating positive thinking. Optimism is an attitude. Positive thinking is a frame of mind that gets results. In order to get the develop this frame of mind you need to train your mind -- not have a simple attitude. Norman Vincent Peale wrote a great book called the "The Power of Positive Thinking." Many of students have read this book, which I think is terrific. But it's not enough to get you to change and create your new life. Murphy goes through the whole concept of positive thinking and how your subconscious mind works. But unless there are few concrete exercises and long affirmations. Unless you're self-motivated you can't possibly create the positive frame of mind he discusses on your own. Positive attitude is just one technique among many that will help you change your life. Chances are that 90% of people who say they are practicing a form of positive attitude are doing it all wrong. 90% of my students who told me they practiced positive attitude before taking my course soon discovered they were doing it wrong -and they had read Murphy's book. Even if you practiced Positive attitude alone -- and did it right -- it could take you years before you create the kind of change you want. Why? Because Positive attitude is only one element -- only one member of your powerful mind power team. Think of it this way -you have 10 people rowing your boat in life. Now you convince one of them to go in a certain direction. But the other 9 are still going in

ART OF DEVELOPING POSITIVE ATTITUDE If you want to live longer, be happy, healthy and successful, all you have to do is tell yourself that you can do it by tapping the healing forces within There is no greater joy than a healthy, positive life. You feel exhilarated, energetic, happy and on top of the world. A sense of total well being permeates your mind. The future looks bright. You feel good to be alive. Great, but how do we get out of our innumerable worries, tensions and fears that the increasingly competitive life burdens us with? Simple! Tell yourself that you are good, healthy and capable. That is the power of positive affirmations. Such affirmations are also called self-suggestions. It is a powerful tool for transforming your inner self into an amazing health generating, self-healing entity. You can record these affirmations on a tape synchronized with pleasant instrumental music and replay them often to make them more effective and permanent.

SELF-INDOCTRINATION Psychology says that our mind controls our body. So, taking charge of your mind becomes a vital factor in keeping your body healthy. You can do this through affirmations that establish the power of your mind. Try: "With the power of positive thinking I now take charge of my body to maintain perfect health, strength and happiness

unconditionally, now and always, so be it." When you repeat this, the misleading programs of your mind will be erased.

It is said that we are never given a wish without the power to fulfill it. Each person is capable of programming his own mind to achieve what he desires. You can tap this capability by following a few simple steps. But before you begin, make yourself totally relaxed and be consciously willing to adopt the method. Attuning yourself with nature guarantees an overall healthy life. To modify this statement into an affirmation, say: "I attune myself with nature to stay healthy now and forever." You can have the right kind of food by affirming: "I can attract healthy food to keep myself fit, healthy and strong, everyday." You can develop the habit of exercising your body and mind by affirming: "I can easily get up early in the morning everyday to exercise and keep fit and cheerful." In case you are an insomniac, all you have to do is repeat: "I can relax into sound sleep now and wake up revitalized, alert, bright and cheerful early in the morning. It is done. So be it." Sometimes, social influences play their part in either inducing or encouraging negative thinking. This is the stage where most doctors give up the case as incurable. So, to find the right doctor, suggest mentally to yourself: "I will locate the right doctor who can cure me completely in a simple, easy and positive way, now and always."

Your health problems can be dissolved by affirming: "I can now dissolve all my health problems, worries and fears easily, quickly and successfully in simple, easy and positive ways. So be it." MAGNETIC RELAXATION Unlike sleeping, magnetic relaxation requires you to be physically at rest but subconsciously alert. When your conscious mind is relaxed, the positive suggestions seep into your subconscious. To achieve maximum benefit from relaxation: Sit in a comfortable chair or lie down on a bed. Let go of all the tension by repeating to yourself: "I can now relax comfortably. I can now relax my body. I can now relax my mind. Easily, quickly and positively. Now I can enjoy the state of alert relaxation peacefully." Let a feeling of soothing comfort take over.

Let go of yourself totally. Feel a universal healing energy surrounding you and getting absorbed into your body and mind. Feel a cool breeze around your body. Visualize a white sparkling light pouring through your head down your body and seeping deep within you. Think that soothing and healing forces are vibrating within and radiating from you. Maintain a positive and peaceful state of mind during the session. Also, take precautions that you are not disturbed. Mentally repeat to yourself: "Day by day in every way I'm getting better and better and better."

MAGNETIC ABSORPTION The subconscious has the knowledge, power, wisdom and understanding to heal and maintain perfect health. It is the interference of negative suggestions that causes ill health and weakness. So, whenever you feel that something is not right, use affirmations to get back on the right track. Here is a simple one that can be absorbed into your subconscious to keep your body fit: "Attuned with universal healing powers and the source of life, all my body organs are now becoming normal and fit, and they will function perfectly to maintain excellent health, strength and vitality up to a great age."

USING THE SUBCONSCIOUS The subconscious mind is perfectly programmed with a survival package in the form of universal instincts that can be synchronized with conscious programs to live in harmony. Accepting your subconscious instincts relieves you of half of your health problems. The subconscious is always receptive to suggestions that transpire from your conscious mind. So keep your conscious mind filled with creative, positive, pleasant, peaceful and productive thoughts. When you repeat an affirmation in a relaxed state of mind, it works wonders. To retain these suggestions, repeat them often, till you feel confident that they have become a permanent habit.

The subconscious mind is an all-powerful, omnipresent and omniscient gift. Peace will prevail in your life when these conditions are maintained. So, affirm often: "I most willingly accept healthy, happy and self-healing success programs of my subconscious mind consciously for total fitness, now and always." It is easy to program your subconscious to integrate your inner healing power into a self-healing force. All that you aspire for will come to pass. New friends, new relationships, new ideas, new thoughts and new plans can motivate you to become a powerful optimist. So affirm: "Today I am a new, dynamic, and optimistic futurist flooded with positive thoughts of successful self-healing."

VITAL LIFE ENERGY Magnetic energy plays a vital role in self-healing. The more energy you generate through eating, breathing and exercising, the longer you will live with health and happiness. It is said that man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes out of his mouth. When we speak to ourselves in positive terms, we tend towards self-healing. We can build up positive statements like: I am healing myself positively. Positive energy is keeping me healthy. Healing myself and others is easy for me. I have the positive habit of deep breathing. Today I am feeling better than ever before. Tomorrow I am going to be perfectly all right.

FEEL YOUNG, LIVE LONGER Age is an attitude of the mind. When you think youthful, you feel youthful. Energy can also be enhanced by being active, alert and awake most of the time. In my experimentation with autosuggestion, I feel that new frontiers can be explored in the process of evolution. Some of them are: Assert firmly to reverse aging. Take it as a challenge. Use the countdown method to feel young and energetic after 50. Subtract the number of years that you are over 50 from 50 and affirm that age constantly. For example, if you are 55, all that you have to do is to count downwards the years of your age by subtracting five from 50 and imagine that you are 45. Now build up positive magnetic statement like: "Today I am 45 years young."

The second phase is to regain the natural color and abundance of youthful hair on your head. But consistent practice coupled with firm determination is required on your part. You can begin the practice right now by affirming: "I am determined to regain all the hair on my head with its natural youthful color as soon as possible." Mentally repeat it 21 times just before you go to sleep at night. SELF-HEALING IN SEVEN DAYS

The magnetic self-healing schedule that follows is an invincible method that can take you to the height of perfect health, strength and happiness. After practicing it for a period of seven days you will find that all your past health problems automatically disappear. The watchword here is consistency. You can always come back to the sevenday program whenever you feel the need. You can mentally repeat each affirmation for the whole day but remember to hold your breath while doing so. Do it for seven days at a stretch and discover the new, optimistic you who can take anything in his stride. It only takes a little belief and a little determination to change your life.

Therefore, when you notice your mind saying something negative, you can intercept it and replace it with positive thought. 10) Live Life NOW! Learn to live fully in your present moment. HOW TO DEVELOP POSITIVE ATTITUDE! Here are some ways to help you cultivate a positive attitude and ease in your life: Listen to internal dialogue. Divide one or more sheets of paper into two columns and, for a few days, jot down in the left column all the negative thoughts that come into your head. Rewrite each thought in a positive way in the second column. Practice doing this in your mind until it becomes a habit. (For example, Ill never get this finished by the end of the day! could become, I will probably get most of this finished by the end of the day.) Learn to communicate. Not saying the things we feel can lead to a sense of frustration, hurt, anger or anxiety. If you find communicating difficult, or are afraid of arguments or bruised feelings, take a course in communicating effectively always having the intent of non-harm. Get back to basics. Reconnect with old friends, take the dog for a walk, visit an art gallery or listen to your favourite music. Enjoy a long, relaxing bath, read a great book, tell your child a story, or ask an older relative to tell you one! The simplest things in life give us the most pleasure. Help someone out. The simple act of helping others (humans, animals or Nature in general) helps us to feel joy. Pick up groceries for an aging neighbour, volunteer at your local hospital or read a book to someone with failing eyesight. If you are unsure of how to help out in your community, call your nearest volunteer centre.

Find your spirituality. Research has shown that those who have developed their spirituality through associating with other spiritual individuals or having cooperative mindful beliefs, live longer, more satisfying lives. The secret is practising those beliefs, either through organized worship, or simple meditation (openness) in a quiet place.

Try Meditation. As the Beatles and many sages of the spiritual and philisophical conditions have expounded, "Let It Be, Let it Be" Allow love in your life. The ability to love and be loved is a most basic human trait. We, as a society, seem to have become disconnected, fear-based emotions (depression, loneliness, guilt, attachment and anger) are symptoms. Finding ways to reconnect with others is extremely helpful in developing a positive attitude. Laugh at yourself and find humour in the simplest of things. Laughter is a powerful mood elevator. If you are feeling down, read some jokes, watch a funny movie or just act "silly" once in awhile. At times, let yourself see through a child's genuine eyes. Building confidence could be as easy as learning the meanings of new words, learning about new topics or if you are right-handed using

instead your left hand more frequently (left hand connects with more spiritual, intuitive and creative right side of the brain). Follow the principles of holistic health - enlightened body, speech and mind in harmony (better nutrition and exercise appear to be associated with positive mood and attitude) Remember that the mainstream media focuses on information that leads to attachment to fear, negative thoughts and emotion. Perhaps instead focus on positive things to do with your precious moments. Learn to communicate your needs more effectively. For example, instead of using common language of subordination expressed by such words as "no", "don't", "should", "stop", "good", "bad" and "have", you could instead try expressing your needs by stating "I need you to...". This peaceful language expresses needs and does not judge.

SELF-AWARENESS: Whereas self-help is focused on enhancing the apparent "I", Self-realization is a seeing through what appears to be, including the "I". Whichever is your journey, all is as it is. Life can lead beyond imagination. Enjoy! Perhaps you have heard somebody said this before... "Attitude is everything." It's quite true indeed. Positive attitude is everything. It gives you many benefits in life. It makes you feel more happy, have more positive energy and attract more positive people in your life. Positive attitude also allows you to put thing in a better perspective. For example, when you're faced with problem, you will tend to look for a solution instead of trying to find faults and blame others. It can also give you a better health as positive energy will lower your stress level. Our inner critic is the internal voice of negative judgmental self talk. It is the nagging feeling, the inner voice that makes us critical of ourselves and others. We learn to be critical of ourselves as we learn to march to the drummer of others wants and needs, we learn to be critical of others when they do not conform to what we want or expect. The inner critic speaks loudly in judgment of ourselves and others. It is a voice that yearns to castigate. It is the voice of enslavement to our egos and to the wants of others.

Sometimes our inner critic will leave us with feelings of self doubt; sometimes it will allow us to feel negative and critical of others. When we listen to our inner critic, we listen to negativity that separates us from our best self and others. Our best personal and professional selves come from a place of self love and acceptance. When we can truly love and accept ourselves we can also see those in our world as collaborators on our path of personal learning. Love is a path which brings us closer to the seed of creation and to a place where we can grow, learn and to share joy with others. We are all partners on a human journey, and the greatest challenge in our roadmap to personal and professional success is to cleave to our humanity, to the values of sharing and caring that make us brothers and sisters on the road of life. Take a day this week to stomp out the voice of your inner critic; to free yourself from self imposed negativity and judgment. Silence all criticism and negativity for 24 hours. Concentrate only on the good in yourself and in others that you meet and interact with. Give the inner critic a day off, and in so doing spend a day with your highest, greatest and best self. There are many teachings in the self help category, including the character building messages of mainstream religions. (Interestingly enough, focus on overall self-improvement may

inevitably be accompanied by thoughts of selflessness.) Below are positive attitude affirmations. I will think of myself as successful! I will have positive expectations for everything I do! A POSITIVE ATTITUDE "Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it (the heart) are found the issues of life. For as a man thinketh in his heart so is he." Proverbs 4:23, Proverbs 23:7 If we be a faithful Christian, we must have a positive attitude. I am Charles Burke, Minister in Sedona, Arizona. Let me describe a positive attitude so that we can learn more about the Spiritual Blessings of New Testament Christianity.

THE NEGATIVE ASPECT OF A POSITIVE ATTITUDE I. A positive attitude is not doubtful because it will make us to believe in the promises of God. For an example, Thomas doubted the resurrection of Christ from the grave. "But Thomas one of the twelve called Didymus was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples there said unto him, we have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hand the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe (I am doubtful). And after eight days again his disciples were within and Thomas was with then: then came Jesus, the doors being shut and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless (doubtful), but believing (trusting). And Thomas answered and said unto my, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me. thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed". John 20:24-29

II. A positive attitude is not fearful because it will help us to trust in the living God. For an illustrate, the disciples were fearful upon the sea of Galilee. "And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the wavers: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuke the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marveled, saying What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him". Matthew 8:23-27 III. A positive attitude is not skeptical because it will help us to rely upon God. For instance, Paul was not skeptical of those things which he believed. "For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day." 2 Timothy 1:11-12

THE POSITIVE ASPECTS OF A POSITIVE ATTITUDE I. A positive attitude will make us to believe the promises of God. God has given unto many many exceeding great and precious promises so that we can overcome the forces of evil. "Whereby are given unto us many exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that in in the world through lust." 2 Peter 1:4 II. A positive attitude will help us to trust in the living God. For an example, Paul trusted unto God unto the day that he died. "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I

have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:6-8 III. A positive attitude will help us to reply upon the power of God. We should rely upon the Lord to be our helper because we can not overcome the powers of Satan by ourselves. "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." Hebrews 13:5-6 IV. A positive attitude will motivate us to obey the laws of God. God demands obedience. "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness." Romans 6:16-18

THE BLESSINGS OF A POSITIVE ATTITUDE "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there by any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things" Philippians 4:8

I. A positive attitude will cause us to mediate upon the truth of God. What is truth? The word of God is truth. "Sanctify them through thy truth thy word is truth. If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (from sin). Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doeth he mediate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whosoever he doeth shall prosper." John 17:17, John 8:31-32, Psalms 1:1-3 II. A positive attitude will motivate us to think about those things which are honest. What is honesty? Doing the will of God is that which is honest. Job was a honest man because we was doing the will of God. "Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and from in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou consider my servant Job, that there is none like him in all the earth, a prefect and upright man (honest man), one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?" Job 1:6-8 III. A positive attitude will cause us to ponder those things which would be just. What is that which is just? Living by the Golden Rule is doing that which is just. "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." Matthew 7:12

IV. A positive attitude will make us to consider those things which are pure. What is that which is pure? The word of God is that which is pure. "The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of the earth, purified seven times." Psalms 12:6 V. A positive attitude will cause us to reflect upon those things which are lovely. What is that which is lovely? Developing a godly character is that which is lovely. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16 VI. A positive attitude will motivate us to recall those things which are of a good report. What is that which would be of a good report? The gospel of Christ is that which is of a good report because it is the good news that Christ died for our sins, and that He was buried, and that He arose from the grave for our justification. "For I (Paul) am not ashamed of the gospel (the good news) of Christ: for it (the gospel) is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Romans 1:16

THE CONCLUSION I. We can develop a positive attitude if we are willing to have positive thoughts instead of negative thoughts. II. We should keep our heart with all diligence because as a man thinks in his heart so is he.
