Video surveillance has become an integral element in the communications systems of all large-scale installations, such as those run by public utilities, refineries, transportation systems, and manufacturing industries, as well as government offices, military bases, and even the fences, barriers and passport control checkpoints that separate international borders. The rapid evolution to IP-based cameras, which require higher resolution and frame rates, as well as the capacity to support advanced analytics, demands an infrastructure capable of transporting the large amount of high-speed data that is generated. Because it is often impractical and prohibitively expensive to lay fiber optic cable at large installations or along the frontiers separating countries, a viable alternative option is to deploy a cost-effective wireless access solution to backhaul video applications to a control center.
Application Note
Video Surveillance Transmission and Telemetry over Wireless Infrastructure for Public Utilities
The Airmux transmits over licensed 2.5 GHz BRS bands or over unlicensed, sub-6GHz bands, an option that enables immediate deployment. In addition, multiple point-to-point architecture allows a dedicated bandwidth to be assigned to each point-to-point link. Transmission is encrypted to ensure security. The Airmux is easy to install and maintain, a must for video surveillance applications in which dozens or even hundreds of units have to be connected simultaneously in order to be effective. It also operates flawlessly even in extreme temperatures of up to -30 degrees Celsius (-22 Fahrenheit).
