VHA NATIONAL CAD STANDARD APPLICATION GUIDE FOREWORD

May 2006

In order to establish drafting standards for the preparation of design and construction documents using Computer Aided Drafting, VA has adopted the entire National CAD Standard, latest release, and amended by this guide. For topics not addressed in this Guide, the procedures and standards in VA Program Guides PG-18-3, Design and Construction Procedures; and PG-18-15, A/E Submission Instructions shall be utilized to the maximum extent practicable, commensurate with cost considerations. Use of this Guide and the National CAD Standard is mandatory for Office of Facilities Management Major, Minor and Design-Build projects. Its use is encouraged for minor and miscellaneous projects at all levels. The VHA National CAD Standard Application Guide does not apply to National Cemetery Administration projects. Refer to National Cemetery System Computer-Aided Design and Drafting Standards Manual located in the Technical Information Library (TIL).
