WARHAMMER 40,000 CODEX:

BLACK TEMPLARS
Official Update for 6th Edition, Version 1.1
Although we strive to ensure that our codexes are perfect, sometimes mistakes do creep in. In addition, we occasionally print new versions of our rules which require amendments to be made in older versions of our army books. When such issues arise, we feel that it is important to deal with them as promptly as we can, and we therefore produce regular updates for all of our army books. When changes are made, the version number will be updated, and any changes from the previous version will be highlighted in Magenta. Where a version number has a letter, e.g. 1.1a, this means it has had a local update, only in that language, to clarify a translation issue or other minor correction. Each update is split into three sections: Errata, Amendments, and Frequently Asked Questions. The Errata corrects any mistakes in the codex, while the Amendments bring the codex up to date with the latest version of the rules. The Frequently Asked Questions (or FAQ) section answers commonly asked questions about the rules. Although you can mark corrections directly in your codex, this is by no means necessary just keep a copy of the update with your codex.

ERRATA
Page 22 Drop Pod Assault. Replace this entry with the following rules: Drop Pod Assault: Drop Pods must enter play using the Deep Strike rules. At the beginning of your first turn, choose half of your Drop Pods (rounding up) to make a Drop Pod Assault. Units making a Drop Pod Assault arrive on their controlling players first turn. The arrival of the remaining Drop Pods is rolled for as normal. A unit that Deep Strikes via Drop Pod cannot charge in the turn it arrives. Immobile: A Drop Pod cannot move once it has entered the battle, and counts in all respects as a vehicle that has suffered an Immobilised damage result that cannot be repaired in any way. Inertial Guidance System: Should a Drop Pod scatter on top of impassable terrain or another model (friend or foe) then reduce the scatter distance by the minimum required in order to avoid the obstacle. Note that if a Drop Pod scatters off the edge of the board then they will suffer a Deep Strike Mishap as per the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Page 24 Uphold the Honour of The Emperor. Change the first sentence of the first paragraph to read to: No friendly units chosen from Codex: Black Templars may take cover saves. Change the first sentence of the second paragraph to: In addition, all friendly units chosen from Codex: Black Templars are immune to the effects of Pinning. Page 25 Accept any Challenge, No Matter the Odds. Replace this entry with This vow affects all friendly models chosen from Codex: Black Templars except Neophytes and vehicles that are not walkers.These models have the Rage special rule.

Page 28 Space Marine Bike. Change Space Marine Characters that have a Command Squad may not be mounted on a Bike. to: Space Marine Characters that have a Command Squad or a jump pack may not be mounted on a Bike. Page 31 Commander, Rites of Battle. Change the third sentence to: If a Black Templars Commander is on the table then all other friendly units chosen from Codex: Black Templars may use his Leadership for Morale, Pinning or Leadership tests. Page 35 Dreadnought, Venerable. Change the third sentence to: If a Venerable Dreadnought suffers a penetrating hit, you can make your opponent re-roll the result on the Vehicle Damage table. Page 39 Land Speeder Typhoon, Typhoon Missile Launcher. Page 23 Righteous Zeal. Change the first sentence of the second paragraph to: In the Shooting phase, any Infantry unit (not Jump Infantry) that has not gone to ground and is not falling back must take a morale check if it suffers any casualties from enemy shooting, not just when it suffers 25% casualties. Change the second sentence of the third paragraph to read This is identical to a Consolidation move refer to the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Page 23 Mixed Armour. Ignore this special rule. Page 23 Kill Them All. Ignore this special rule. Page 24 Suffer Not the Unclean to Live. Change the final sentence to read: This Strength bonus is not cumulative with that conferred by the Furious Charge special rule. Page 25 Abhor the Witch, Destroy the Witch. Change the first sentence of the first paragraph to read: This vow affects all friendly units chosen from Codex: Black Templars (including vehicles) and happens after deployment but before deploying Infiltrators or redeploying units with the Scouts special rule. Ignore the last sentences of both the first and second paragraphs. Page 26 Single-handed Weapons. Change the storm shield from 10 points to 15 points Page 27 Auspex. Ignore the bracketed section in the second sentence (regarding Sentries). Page 27 Combat Shield. Change the last sentence to: The combat shield confers a 6+ invulnerable save. Page 27 Cenobyte Servitors. Ignore the sixth sentence (regarding Veteran Skills) altogether. Page 27 Crozius Arcanum. Replace this entry with: A crozius arcanum is treated as a power maul refer to the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Page 27 Cyclone Missile Launcher. Change as a missile launcher to as a heavy 2 missile launcher.

AMENDMENTS
Note that this is an older Codex, written for a previous edition of the rules. You will therefore need to consult the Reference section of the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook for an up to date list Unit Types and Vehicle Hull Points. Youll also find that some of the weapons in this Codex are written out longhand, rather than using the weapon profile format in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Dont worry these are functionally identical, unless noted otherwise in this document. Two Toughness Values Where a model has two Toughness values presented on its profile, one of which is presented in brackets, always use the bracketed value. Ignore the other value entirely. Page var. Last Man Standing test. Ignore all references to Last Man Standing tests. Page var. Massacre results. Ignore all references to Massacre results. Page 22 And they Shall Know no Fear.... Replace this entry with A Holy Orb of Antioch is a shooting weapon (not a grenade) with the following profile: Range S AP Type 3 3 Assault 1, Armourbane, Holy Orb 12" of Antioch Blast,Fleshbane, One Use Only, Page 28 Jump Pack Replace this entry with: Models equipped with jump packs gain the Jump unit type as described in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Page 28 Narthecium. Replace the second paragraph with: As long as the Apothecary is alive, all models in his squad have the Feel No Pain special rule. Page 28 Signum. Change the last two sentences to: A model can use a signum in lieu of making a shooting attack of his own. If he does so, one model in his squad is Ballistic Skill 5 for the remainder of the Shooting phase. Declare that the signum is being used before any rolls to hit are made. Page 28 Space Marine Bike Replace this entry with: Models equipped with Space Marine bikes change their unit type to Bike as described in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Space Marine bikes have a twinlinked boltgun. Page 28 Storm shield. Change to: A storm shield is a solid shield that has an energy field generator built into it. The energy field is capable of deflecting almost any attack, even blows from lascannons and power weapons. A model with a storm shield has a 3+ invulnerable save. A model equipped with a storm shield can never claim the +1 Attack bonus for being armed with two close combat weapons in an assault. Page 29 Thunder Hammer. Ignore this entry refer instead to the Thunder Hammer profile in the Weapons section of the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Page 29 Pintle Mounted Storm Bolter. Ignore this entry refer instead to the Storm Bolter profile in the Weapons section of the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Page 29 Power of the Machine Spirit. Ignore this entry, and replace with The tank has the Power of the Machine Spirit special rule.

Page 29 Terminator Armour. Change Space Marines in Terminator armour are capable of moving and firing with heavy weapons. to Space Marines in Terminator armour have the Relentless special rule. Page 29 Dozer Blades; Hunter-killer Missile; Searchlight; Smoke Launchers. Use the entries in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Page 31 Commander, Command Squad Replace this entry with A Commander may lead a Command Squad or, if equipped with Terminator Armour, may lead a Terminator Command Squad. Page 31 Emperors Champion, the Black Sword. Replace the last sentence with the following profile: Range S AP Type Black +2 3 Melee Sword Page 31 The Emperors Champion, Slayer of Champions. Change the second sentence to read: The Emperors Champion must always issue and accept a challenge whenever possible. If there is more than one model in a combat with this special rule, you may select which model issues or accepts the challenge. Page 32 Black Templars Chaplain, Reclusiam Command Squad. Replace this entry with A Chaplain may lead a Command Squad or, if equipped with Terminator Armour, may lead a Terminator Command Squad. A Standard Bearer within one Reclusiam Command Squad may carry a Holy Relic for +30 points. A Chaplain who does not lead a Terminator Command Squad may also be accompanied by up to 3 Cenobyte Servitors of the Company Chapel for +10 points each. Page 32 Sword Brethren Terminator Command Squad. Change the first sentence to read: You may take a Command Squad to accompany a Commander or Chaplain in Terminator armour chosen from Codex: Black Templars. Page 32 Sword Brethren Terminator Command Squad, Transport. Change the first sentence to read: A Terminator Command squad which, including leading/attached characters, numbers eight models or less may select a Land Raider Crusader as a dedicated transport.
