Personal Salvation Story
Zarah Jane Lim Found I grew up in a Christian family. My earliest memory leads back to Sunday School, DVBS, and church outings. At an early age, I came to understand how much God loves me so I accepted Jesus Christ in my heart as my personal Lord and Savior. I was 6 years old then – an age where friends and acceptance matter most. When I gave my heart to Jesus, I knew that I just made a Friend for life. I was a shy kid then, so every friend matters to me. And knowing that Jesus gave His life for me, that He’s always there to help me, gave me a feeling of peace and security. That same year I got saved (1991), I was baptized in water.
Sidetracked You can call me a “goody-goody” when I was a kid. But when I started high school, peer pressure and persecution started. At first, I stood firm with my beliefs but sadly, during my sophomore year, I drifted away from my devotion to God. Yes, I was still an active church-goer, I still read my Bible, I still did ministry, but I was also leading a life fairly similar to the ones my nonChristian friends were living. In short, I was leading a double life. I was involved in church during weekends but during weekdays, I was worldly. This went on until I reached my first year in college. Found again, at last! The summer of 2003, our church held its first Youth Camp. I was a part of the staff that organized the event, and I didn’t know that it would be a turning point for me. The theme was Jumpstart, and I was literally jumpstarted back to (my spiritual) life. The conviction of what I was doing was so strong that it led me to repentance. True enough, with repentance comes forgiveness, and with forgiveness comes peace, and with peace comes joy. I sought for a refilling of the Holy Spirit and, by God’s grace, I experienced it like never before. That experience really made me turn around from my “rebellious” high school days and turn to the Lord. Discouragements, disappointments, fears and worries still come, but with each problem, I know that God’s love and favor will never fail me. I believe that each of my experiences, be it good or bad, has led me to become what I am today. Through it I became stronger in my walk with the Lord, I came to know Him better, and I saw how His hand is moving in my life. I praise God for choosing me to be His daughter!
It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God – that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. I Corinthians 1:30
