Renita D’Silva signs for Bookouture.
Bookouture today announced the signing
of Renita D’Silva — a debut author whom it is positioning as the Indian Jodi Picoult.
The contract is for global rights to three commercial literary fiction titles set in India. Bookouture will publish Monsoon Memories in June 2013, with D’Silva’s second book to follow in early 2014. Oliver Rhodes, Founder of Bookouture, said he was delighted to be working with D’Silva:

“Renita is simply one of the most talented authors that I’ve ever worked with. With story-telling reminiscent of Jodi Picoult and a richly lyrical writing style that really brings India to life, we believe that Monsoon Memories provides perfect book club reading — and has huge global potential.”
Monsoon Memories follows the story of Shirin - exiled from her family in India for over a decade and living in London. Stirred by memories of home she feels irrevocably drawn to return, despite the dark secrets that lie hidden in her past. Born in Mangalore, India and now living just outside London, D’Silva has been writing since the age of eight and has had a number of short stories published. Monsoon Memories will be her first published novel. She commented on the deal: “I’m thrilled to be working with Bookouture. Their enthusiasm and passion won me over and I am looking forward to a long and exciting journey with them.”

Bookouture is the digital and print-on-demand imprint founded by Oliver Rhodes - previously Marketing Controller at Harlequin UK and a Bookseller Rising Star for 2012. Bookouture specializes in entertaining fiction for women and building global author brands.
