Daily Tour Itinerary for Food & Wine Tour of Croatia: Day 1 Istria, Croatia (D) Transfer from Zagreb airport to Croatias Istria region, known for its medieval hill-towns, Venetian towns on the coast, Malvasia white wines, truffles and other gastronomic delights. Overnight and dinner of lamb and potatoes slow-cooked Ispod pekom-style (under the lid) in the fireplace at pension tucked into the countryside. Day 2 Groznjan, Motovun Istria, Croatia (B, L, D) Visit to the charming Istrian hill-town of Groznjan, a once ghost town transformed into an artists colony. Now it is humming with artists galleries and handmade jewelry shops. Now for a very uniquely Istrian activity - truffle hunting with dogs in the forests around the famous hill-town of Motovun. Whether the dogs are successful or not in their search, guests will enjoy a truffle lunch with home made fuzi (local pasta) and wine tasting by the proprietors of Tomaz Winery, whose Malvasia was chosen best in Europe. After lunch, some at leisure time in Motovun with the option of message or spa treatment. Dinner back at countryside pension. Day 3 Istria (B, D) Guided walking tour of Rovinj, Istrias most charming seaside town, with at leisure time to explore art shops & galleries, outdoor market and the bell tower of Church of St. Euphemia (modelled after St. Marks in Venice). Visit to local farm that produces goat cheese with lunch of homemade kobasice (Istrian pork sausages), goat cheeses, homemade olive oil and wines. Dinner back at countryside pension.

Day 4 - Pag Island (B, L, D) Travel from Istria region down into Kvarner and Northern Dalmatian regions of Croatia. Stop along the way at the island of Krk, the largest of Croatias nearly 1000 islands, and visit the small seaside town Vrbnik overlooking the Adriatic. Traditional lunch of smoked ham, Krk cheese and roasted lamb plus a tasting of Zlahtina, Krks golden wine. Continue onto Pag Island (famous for its sheeps cheese) with dinner and overnight at a winery cum hotel surrounded by vineyards and olive orchards. Day 5 - Pag Island (B, D) Visit to olive groves and tasting of local olive oil at a production mill. Tour of local cheese factory making the islands most famous export. At leisure time for walking trails or seaside time at the beach. Tour of the Bokinac Winery (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pags native white Gegi) followed by a special five-course dinner. Day 6 - Hvar Island (B, D) Head down the Dalmatian coast with a stop at the city of Split. Guided walking tour of Split, Croatias 2nd largest city and gateway to the many Dalmatian islands. Local tour guide will show off the ancient palace of Roman Emperor Diocletian, built in the 3rd century AD. Catch the ferry to Hvar Island, voted as one of the Top 10 islands in the world and Croatias most popular and sun-soaked island. Guided tour of Hvar Town that includes a visit to the Venetian-built fortress overlooking the town and the Adriatic. Dinner at local restaurant. Day 7 - Hvar Island (B, L) Enjoy a full day wine and local food tasting tour. Visit two of Croatias premier wineries (Bastijana winery and Medvid-Ivo Dubokovic winery) and discover the secrets of Croatias Plavac Mali wine. At Bastijana winery, a tour of their production and cellar facilities will be followed by four courses that will be combined with island finest local appetizers. Drive up to the highest peak on the island and take in the magical view of Hvars most lush vineyards. This amazing excursion ends with an authentic island culinary picnic at the picturesque village of Vrisnik. Your host is one of the best Croatian olive oil producers, Mr. Borivoj Bojanic. Savor the subtle flavors of all the local herbs and condiments used in the preparation of your meal and gaze out at beautiful vistas, you will understand the essence of island living among unspoiled nature. Day 8 - Peljesac Peninsula (B, D) Ferry back to Croatias mainland and drive down the southern Dalmatian coast (oh what views) until reaching the Peljesac peninsula. Visit to small town of Ston with mighty defensive walls and an old salt works. Dinner in Mali Ston famous for its oysters and mussels. Day 9 - Peljesac Peninsula (B, D) Start the day with a trip to the village of Orasac and visit its 300 years old olive mill. Enjoy a few of the local drinks (grape brandy, tangerine liquer, walnut brandy) and tastings of olive oil, cheese, home made red wine. Then it is on to Dubrovnik, a magical walled city wedged next to the sea. A local guide will give a two hour walking tour of the Pearl of the Adriatic. Then everyone will enjoy a wonderful farewell dinner at a fantastic restaurant (hand-picked by our local guide) situated in the heart of the old walled town. Day 2 - Smartno (L, D) Today we take a visit to a local wine cellar enabling us to enjoy some of Slovenias best sparkling wine with tasting of 4 wines, fivecourse slow-food lunch with wine pairings, optional late afternoon walk in beautiful wine country
