PURPOSE

As you may have noticed already the author likes to have a bit of a laugh and I would also go so far as to say likes to monkey around.

Having said that the purpose of this document is primarily to educate or inform you the reader as to what is possible with technology combined with the willingness to do things a little differently.

Rest assured the information contained within is not monkey business! Believe it or not my goal is not to sell you a Prepaid Meter (a truck load would be good) but really it is to open your mind to what is possible?

In fact the Prepaid Meters technology mentioned in this paper was developed by the Enron Corporation. Just because Enron disappeared doesn’t mean the technology has been lost.

This is the Pre Paid Solutions story with regards to Prepaid Meters Australia.

THE STORY SO FAR

Pre Paid Solutions Australia was founded by Justin Uncles back in February 2012 where he signed up as an Authorised Reseller Prepaid Meters Australia. At the time Justin was just finishing a computer programming contract with Origin Energy. The opportunity presented itself through Lucky (that’s the guy’s name, Lucky) a friend of the outlaws, oops I mean inlaws. I truly believe it is lucky I met Lucky. This is the type of opportunity that I would have been kicking myself by not jumping on board and saying somewhere in the future, “I could have been a part of that” So here we are ten months down the track and what is happening? Well things took a while to take off, after all what does a computer programmer that acts like a monkey know about sales and marketing? I’ll admit to being rather naïve in the beginning. I can tell you one thing, I know a whole lot more now and am only just really getting started. Look out world here I come. Signed up my first customer / client in the beginning of November and it’s thanks to that deal you see this story before you now. Stay tuned and I’ll share more as the story unfolds.

SOLAR COMPANIES

take control of their utility destiny by hedging against rising prices and converting their power problems into positive cash flow.
Solar companies can help Australian residents

This is achievable by presenting the opportunity to absorb the clean-green energy of the sun whilst concurrently implementing a Prepaid Meters solution that acts as a visual utility dashboard, allowing consumers to monitor, measure and manage their energy consumption.

This combining of technology presents the opportunity for solar companies to enter into the previously untapped landlord / investor market.

FACTS OF THE MARKET According to the research done by Prepaid Meters Australia, in the current market the following generally applies - Solar systems have long pay back periods between five to ten years - Solar systems are being sold predominantly to owner occupiers - Landlords and Investors are not installing solar as there is no financial benefit to them - The Landlord and Investor Market is currently un tapped - Owners that install these traditional solar systems have no way of auditing their current meter accuracy - Owners of solar currently have no monitor to monitor their usage accurately and audit energy suppliers - Electricity prices are going to go up ten times in the next five years So what if there was an easy and cost effective way of making solar attractive to a landlord / investor by: - Enabling them to own the bill and make money from the solar energy created? - Making it possible to audit the bill that they are getting from anywhere in the world? - Enabling Solar to become an income earning asset for them? - Enabling them to achieve a greater green star rating for their property? - Enabling them to tax deduct and depreciate their investment? What if there was an easy and cost effective way of adding value to the home owner by: - Enabling them to Monitor, Measure & Manage the consumption? - Enabling them to save 10% off their current bills? - Enabling them to budget by allowing them to purchase as much electricity as they like and when they like? - Enabling them to check their bill and to sort out any billing disputes effectively with the energy suppliers? - Enabling them to participate in power buying group like People Power Australasia that could save them a further 10% off their bill? So how do you do all of that? Introducing …..

PREPAID METERS Prepaid Electricity Vending – similar to Prepaid Mobile Phones Add a high accuracy sub meter into the solar solution and enable it such that the owner/renter can buy electricity on a Pay as You Go Prepaid basis and in a way that the usage can be monitored on the web as well as in the home. The following Prepayment System Diagram illustrates two steps to the top up process for the adding of credits to the meter. 1. Purchasing is the transfer of funds to the Prepaid Meters online account associated with the meter. 2. Vending is the allocation of credits from the online account to the meter using either the manual STS (Standard Transfer Specification) credit token method or automated AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) smart meters communication system.

SOLAR + PREPAID Any owner of Prepaid Electricity sub meters including landlords, investors, property developers, property managers, body corporates have the ability to - Pay the Grid Power / normal electricity supplier at a negotiated discounted rate due to bulk custom and loyalty - Charge tenants slightly less than the normal market rate yet more than what the supplier is charging and profiting from the difference. The return on investment is greater when adding solar to the equation because of revenue gained from any surplus fed in to the power grid combined with the pure profit on what is consumed via the solar.
Everyone wins

- Electricity supplier gets their money on time without worrying about arrears - Landlords / Investors gain an additional revenue stream - Tenants don’t have to organise their own electricity supplier - Tenants also get charged a discounted less than normal market rate - Tenants behaviour changes to reduce consumption on average by 15%

The prepaid sub meter acts as a utility vending machine, which dictates the flow of electricity entering into the home and comes after the utility provider’s main meter. The sub meter reading is the addition of the main meter reading and the inverter reading, which comes from the installation of solar panels.
