3-on-3 Basketball

7th March Victorian Day

Event Summary

We will target up to 8 teams to participate in this event. Each team will require to
register at least 3 players and a maximum of 5 players. No restriction to male
and females. Registration fee will be fixed at $15. Games will be held from 10am
to 12.30pm at the VJC basketball courts.

Prizes

The top 2 teams will each receive gold and silver trophies respectively. Trophies
will be funded by the registration fees of $120.

Logistics Required

One full basketball court will be required to stage the games. We will require a
minimum of 2 referees and 2 student helpers to keep score. Referees will keep
track of time.

- 2 tables, chairs and scoring sheets for the student helpers

- 2 basketballs

Rules:

1. Game length: 7mins per half. 2mins half time break. Rolling time (clock
does not stop when ball is out of play).

2. Each team is entitled 1 time-out of 1min per match.

3. Each team may consist of up to 5 players, 3 main and 2 substitutions.

4. Substitutions are unlimited and can be made at any dead-ball situation

with the referee notified.

5. Games are played on half the court only, as such balls crossing the half
court line is considered a turnover.

6. Game possession will start from coin toss. The alternate team will start the
second half.

7. Game starts outside 3-point arc. “Check ball” is necessary and checker of
ball is only allowed to pass, thus, not allowed to dribble or shoot.
 8. On defensive rebounds, including air balls and steals, the ball must be
reset by dribbling or passing outside the 3-point arc, where both feet
would have to clear the 3-point arc.

9. Each point within the 3-point arc will be counted as 2 and beyond the 3-
point arc will be counted as 3.

10.Change in possession after each basket.

11.Free throw rules are in effect as per standard full court rules.

12.4 individual fouls will be considered fouled out. When a player is fouled
out, the team will play with 1 less player for the rest of the game.

13.For any disputes, the referee’s decision is final.

14.The referee reserves the right to “red card” players for misconduct.

15.The referee may completely disqualify teams.

Competition format:

1. 2 groups of 4 teams.

2. Each group will play in a round robin format as per the illustration below.

3. 3 points are awarded for wins, 1 point for draws and 0 points for losses.

4. Top 2 teams from each after the round robin will qualify for the semi-finals.

5. Winners of the semi-final matches will advance to the finals.
