FLP 2 Road Trip “Though the road's been rocky it sure feels good to me.

” ― Bob Marley On-boarding: May 2012, just as students are preparing for school, others are going to last minute summer vacations and lovers in preparations for June wedding, hundreds of fresh IT graduates, nurses, engineers and other career shifters applied for a slot on the 2nd Batch of FLP (Fresher Learning Program) offered by Capgemini, a global company that provides IT services and one of the world's largest management consulting, outsourcing and professional services companies with a staff of more than a hundred thousand, operating in 40 countries. Among these applicants, twenty (20) were chosen to be part of the training. And so they embark on their joyous road trip. 1st stop - Introductions: Series of introductions were made, the company and its culture was introduced to the group, they were given a tour on the area along with the different departments and personalities to get in touch with. At the same time the company finally got to know their upcoming talents on-board. The trip run smoothly so they moved on to their next stop. 2nd Stop - Non-technical Trainings: Not wasting precious time, the trainees were given leadership trainings which includes, email etiquette, assertiveness, customer service and telephone essential, business ethics and confidentiality trainings. Other than these, the group was exposed to the different domains like Cards, Banking and Insurance. In line with all the trainings, the new talents had their first break, the company had their annual Summer Camp in Cavite. They had a chance to bond with other employees through games and other activities. 3rd Stop - Technical Trainings: After a day of fun, the talents are back on their trip. They started to learn the fundamentals of programming like logic formulation, structured programming concepts, and introduction to computing. Some database environments were also geared such as UNIX, SQL, and ORACLE. A month long discussion with hands-on exercises on JAVA programming was provided. These topics were taught as a preparation for the major technical training that they will encounter. 4th Stop – Mainframe: The road started to get bumpy when the trainees had their training on Mainframe. ISPF, MVS, JCL, COBOL/DB2, CICS and Natural/Adabas were all the topics discussed. Along the trip, others decided not to go-on with journey and took other paths. Eight (8) of them decided to take the ride for testing practices and one went with the ITICS team. And so the trippers were down to eleven (11) and the road trip went on. A few roadblocks were encountered, examples of which are the challenges with the environment used and being new to mainframe programming structure and its architecture. Nevertheless, the road trip doesn’t end here.

Equipped with all the knowledge and experiences along the road. But. no matter what the transition. the Truth. Being in it was a feat. some collide and join together. . and finishing it so much more.FLP Batch 2 (the trippers) . and Being Free. The FLP training was like a highway for us individuals aspiring for a career in IT. “We have all heard that no two snowflakes are alike. the snowflake always finds itself perfectly shaped for its journey. some are influenced by wind.. here they are at the end of the road trip.Steve Maraboli. these trippers will continue to face new obstacles and roadblocks on their way to their new road trips.” -. Life. some snowflakes collide and damage each other.Last Stop – Graduation: Finally. an accomplishment in itself. Along this gravity-driven journey. They are on the same journey. Each snowflake takes the perfect form for the maximum efficiency and effectiveness for its journey. but each takes a different path.. the expansive space in the air gives each snowflake the opportunity to take their own path. there are so many transitions and changes that take place along the journey of the snowflake. And while the universal force of gravity gives them a shared destination.
