The NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) oversees implementation of the Discharges of Petroleum and Other Hazardous Substances (DPHS) rules (N.J.A.C. 7:1E et seq.) that impact major facilities throughout the State. As part of these regulations, major facilities are required to prepare, submit and update Discharge Prevention Containment and Countermeasure (DPCC) plans and Discharge Cleanup and Removal (DCR) plans with the NJDEP. This one-day workshop will provide guidance on: • • • Preparing updates to current DPCC and DCR plans Steps to ensure compliance with the plans and NJDEP rules A discussion of the federal Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) “sister” program, and how discharges will be addressed under the new Remediation of Contaminated Sites Rule

Federal regulations require all employees who work on sites that may expose them to hazardous substances or health hazards receive training allowing them to work safely, knowledgeably and effectively. This one-day hands-on practical course is designed to meet the 8-hour annual refresher training requirements under OSHA’s Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response regulation [29 CFR 1910.120(e)].

This interactive one-day workshop will engage Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs) and other environmental professionals to work through a typical Site Remediation Program (SRP) Case starting with an ISRA triggering event, through all the phases of remediation (PA/SI/RI and RA), including applying for and implementing a remedial action permit and culminating in the issuance of an RAO. The participants will use the various tools, guidance and resources provided by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) to ensure all forms and documents are properly prepared and submitted within the applicable timeframes established in ARRCS and the Tech Rules. Upon LSRP Board Approval, this course will satisfy the pre-requisite course requirement in order to take the LSRP Licensing Exam OR will qualify for Regulatory Continuing Education Credits. It will not count for both.
