Okay. At this time I’ma r…, uh, refer, if you can r…, I’ma refresh your memory uh, back to August 20th, 2008. Uh, can you tell me uh, what you were doing at that time uh, while attending your son’s practice? What you observed, I’m sorry? Okay. I got there around uh, about 20 after 5 that day? When I arrived there they were in, individual groups. There were offense and defensive line and everybody’s watching. My son therefore he was in the offensive line group. After about 10 or 15 minutes they proceeded to get a water break after that. Before they went back to the group they called for team. That’s when first team, first, first team and the freshmen pretty much stayed in their group at that time. Except for maybe 2 or 3. But, they were a little slow gettin’ to the first team thing. So, they decided they’re gonna run. This was probably around 5:30, 5:35. And, when they first started running they ran in full gear, then they ran with uh, out their helmets. They ran without their helmets and shoulder pads. And, maybe about 10, 15 minutes into the practice uh, Calloway went down. When I thought was an asthmatic attack. Is Calloway a player? Yes. Okay. He’s one of the players. Okay. Defensive back.

Go ahead and continue. And, uh, maybe 5 or 10 minutes after that Mr. Gilpin went down, Max Gilpin went down. And, he was being assisted off the field. I actually didn’t see him go down but there was a couple of players helping him off the field at that time. Okay. And, where did they take him when they took him off the field? Calloway sat on the bleachers underneath the shade tree. And, that’s where they was bringing Max also. But, they knew he needed more assistance than that at that time. So, they loaded him in the gator and took him over to uh, the water sprinklers. Okay. Uh, did Max appear conscious, unconscious, unresponsive, how did he appear? At first he seemed conscious, and even when he, when he was over by the water. I went over to try to assist water; I thought I heard him talking. But, there was this several people there, but it could’ve been them talking, ‘cause I didn’t get that close. Okay. And, this is 5 minutes after the first uh, individual Mr. Calloway uh? Yes, sir. Black male player had and how’d you classify his? It was sound like an asthmatic attack.

Asthma attack, okay. And, when uh, was there any other player uh, observed to have (inaudible)… There was another player to my right and I believe his name was uhm, uh, Farris. And, I don’t think he was even running, I could be wrong, but I don’t think he did. Okay. and, what was he doing when you observed him? He was kneeling down, had an ice bag on the back of his neck. Okay. And, uh, as far as the uh, the uh, your arrival. You arrived around 5:20? Yes, sir. Okay. What particular training were they uh, what, what particular training were they doing at the time? The offensive uh, defensive linemen were doing drills like maybe uh; I don’t know what the drill’s called? The offensive line was just; they were teaching blocking techniques with the defensive line. Okay. So, they was going over some training uh, football techniques? Yes. Uh, between (inaudible)… linemen and defense

Yes, sir. And, what uh and eventually did they get uh, a water break? Yes, after like I said about 10 minutes they got a water break as that group. Okay, what time? And, then after that the? What time do you think they got a break? 5:25, 5:30 something like that. Okay. And, this is as, as this group as a team? Yes, sir. Okay. And, then they got back to the training? They were headed back to that area before they were called for first team. And, rest of the team also got water breaks after that. They do it in groups. Yes, sir. It’s a lot easier to, for ‘em to get water in groups than the 100 players at one time. Yes, sir. And, the only, the watering area is to the uhm? To the west side of the practice field, yeah. West side of the uh, practice field. And, uh, okay when they uh, started running. Uh, you

said they, I’m sorry, prior to running the coach called for a meeting of some sort? Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones For team to pl…, to practice. Okay. And, uh. They were slow to get there. Okay. So, they lined up to run. Okay. So, the coach had running drills. Yes. Because, they were slow to get back to the team. Yes, plus they always had practice that way anyway. Okay. Just a little earlier than usual. Okay. This, this day. So, they was running you said uh, they did it in helmets for a few times? Yes. Then down shoulder pads, and then down to bare chested.

Well, there’s. Or, tee-shirts. Full equipment? Uh-huh. Then without helmets, then without helmets and shoulder pads. Okay. And, this was. Bare chested. Ran length wise of the practice field, or width wise? Width wise. Width wise. Um-hum. From one side line to the next, right? Yes. And, which side line did they start? They started on the west side, the soccer side where the soccer game was being played. And, how long do you think this take place, took place? If I was to guess it’d probably about 25 minutes so, 30, maybe 20, 25.

Okay. 30, something like that. Okay. And, uh, you stated uhm, I mean was this timed or untimed? Untimed. Untimed. Untimed. And, also they also when they run they don’t run continuously? Yes. They also run in groups, the offensive line, defensive line run. Then the backs run, then the linebackers run. So, it could be a like 3 or 4 across at one time, or 5 or 6 across? Yes. On the line at one time? Yes. Depending on the players (inaudible)… Exactly. Okay. And, they do that because of the closeness to speed. Okay. And, were any freshmen running with

‘em at the time? Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones Jarrard Jones At first they wasn’t, but uh, I think after about 5 or 10 minutes, they were all running. Okay. And, again some, some finished more, some finished quicker than the others? Yes. But, as you classified this was not a time run (inaudible)… No. They run their own pace but within guidelines? Yes. Okay. And, meaning that the coach counted down time, in which the player? I don’t think he was that day. Okay. But, it’s been done before though? Yes, yes. Okay. And, your particular portion of the uh, field where you were sitting at is where, as it relates to the football field, practice field? W…, at the uh, south end of the field there’s a set of bleachers underneath the shade tree. Okay. And, I was standing up behind the bleachers.

Okay. Uh, was any other activity taking place at the time? There was a soccer match being played on the soccer and there was a youth practice that started down on the uh, north end. Okay. And, it would be safe to say there was uh, several people at the practice at this time? Yes. Okay. How many would you estimate to be there? Uh? Between parents and, and, and spectators things like that? Maybe counting the soccer I don’t know, but as far as where I was at, there was probably 10 to 15 people maybe. Yes, sir okay. And, that was gathered on the bench, right? On the bench or just standing around talking. Okay. Was any other uh. Ooh…, excuse me. Spectators along between the practice and the soccer field, was any spectators gathered along there? Yes, they were watching the soccer match, yeah.

Okay. And, uh, what time you think practice was over? Somewhere around 6. Okay. And, uhm, at you said, you stated Max had, if it was eventually treated or taken by EMS in an ambulance, correct? Yes, sir. And, and at this time you didn’t know his condition, only that they were treating him by the water, correct? Yes. Okay, okay. Is there anything else you wanna add, sir before we go off record? I think we’ve pretty much covered everything. Nothing I can think of, sir, except I will say this. I had 2 sons, one son played and graduated last year for that, for this group of coaches. And, one plays now, he’s a sophomore. And, if I didn’t feel these coaches had the best interest of my son, he would not be on that practice field. If I was to die, I would trust ‘em with my son’s life. Okay, okay. That’s why I give you opportunity to say we, if we missed anything or anything you wanna add. And, again with that said, being said. Is there anything else that we didn’t cover? Nothing I can think of, sir.
