Presentation of our new REF Awardees to the Club

It was with great panache that Graham Bennett, as the Chair of the REF Committee, had the pleasure of presenting our 5 new awardees to the assembled gathering together with the parents. After a rigourous selection process the successful candidates came through with flying colours during their oath-taking ceremony. They first regaled us with a few "secrets" about themselves before embarking on the more formal side of events. We were also treated to the introduction of their new Mentors some of whom were also new to the club.

Last Saturday's Speaker Ms Pamela Lim

'Benevolent Affairs in the Sea - the tale of symbiotic relationships in the oceans realm!' With passion, excitement and joie de vivre, we were treated to a journey through the undersea world. The message was how incredibly different sea dwellers live together for mutual benefit. Pamela Lim, an experienced professionally qualified diver, demonstrated this with some fantastic macro photography. I know how much skill and patience it takes to get the sort of photos we were treated to. During question time Pamela showed her passion for the world with some heartfelt comments on how we humans do not live together in a symbiotic relationship with oterh creatures of the world. She described how our disregard for the rubbish we wantonly throw on the streets travels all the way to the sea and kills with gay abandon. One day we will regret our attitudes when there is nothing left to see or eat. Thank you pamela for the wake up call it's a pity that not many ears are open.
