Adapun tujuan interview adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan, keterampilan teknis dari pelamar. Selain itu ada hal yang paling utama yang dinilai oleh staff HRD dari pelamar, yakni kemampuan management diri, emosi, waktu dan pekerjaan. Karena dalam bekerja tidak cukup hanya menggunakan keterampilan teknis saja, melainkan diikuti oleh manejemen diri dan kerja. Ada dua kelompok pertanyaan yang sebaiknya ditanyakankepada pelamar, kelompok pertama adalah profil tentang anda, kelompok yang kedua adalah kompetensi anda. Kebanyakan kandidat hanya mampu pada kelompok pertama saja. Kalaupun penginterview masih melanjutkan interview, itu hanya menghargai kehadiran anda saja. Kita ambil satu pertanyaa pada kelompok profil anda, What have you accomplished in the past that makes you particularly qualified for this position? (Pengalaman apa yang sudah anda selesaikan dimasa lalu yang membuat anda masuk kualifikasi untuk posisi ini?). Jika anda tidak memiliki pengalaman yang relevan dengan posisi yang dilamar, staff HRD sudah mendis-kualifikasi anda. Pengalaman yang dimaksud tidak harus terletak pada pengerjaan posisi yang sama, dengan kata lain anda harus pernah bekerja sesuai posisi lowongan. Pengalaman itu bias saja kegiatan dikampus, kemudian anda hubungkan dan sesuaikan dengan persyaratan saat membaca lowongan kerja. Contah lain melamar pekerjaan adalah hal yang mudah untuk seseorang yang sudah menguasai sesi interview. Penting untuk diingat dalam percakapan interview adalah contohcontoh perbuatanyang sesuai dengan fitur-fitur yang anda miliki yang membedakan anda dengan orang lain.
