Presidents Report
By Bob Nash
Welcome to March/April. Breakout months: longer days, more sun, warmer temps, swap meets, snowbirds coming home, getting the cruiser ready. The Motor State calendar is filling up fast, so keep an eye on that for endless things to do. An interesting cruise is being set up by Ken Callison (IDIDIT). It will take you from Michigan to California with stops in between. Happening in August 2014. Sounds like fun, contact Ken if interested. Also time to think about your NSRA safety inspection. We have a new state inspector with Roy and Marge Drumm taking over from Dick and Kathy Confer. Dick retired at the end of 2012 with Michigan again coming in number one in the nation. Thanks to the Confers for 25 years of inspecting. Hes not done yet, just taking a different role. Keep an eye out for some new iron showing up this spring and summer. I hear of 4 or 5 new pieces seeing the light of day soon. The two tier membership fee (for a paper copy of the newsletter) has been well received with more than half of members singing up. Its a sign of the times, even my pension and social security are headed that way. Speaking of the newsletter do you know someone that would be interested in advertising space in a premium publication? See Rich if you do! See You On The Street

Transformation
What do you do when you got an extra hot rod and want to get rid of it for more garage space. Well put it up of sale at a fair and reasonable price would be the number one answer. Still cant sell it and it is a sound vehicle, well most would drop the price but not John Schumont who by most standards is the Motor States most prolific builder and fast too. He just decided that if it would not sell at his price he just would redo the truck into something that was a little different. A little different is an understatement considering that every inch of the truck was touched in the transformation. The frame was extended as well as the entire front end changed, fenders were added, the truck bed was lengthened, the grill was changed, Camero bumpers were added after a complete change in their look and then the hood was cut in over 60 places and reconfigured. John who is known for putting slots in the metal ended up with over 900 in this vehicle. And lord behold, John actually put some shinny white paint on the truck but kept a flat yellow just to let us know he still likes that look. One of the most amazing parts is all of this was done while John was still recovering from a hip replacement. Claudia tried to keep him slowed down but John does not know the meaning of low and slow except in the vehicles he builds. Congratulations on this great truck John, another winner out of your shop. See you and Claudia rolling down the road this summer with smiles to the miles.

Before

And the After

Before
And the Motor State Crew is not done yet, out in the village of Fowlerville comes another transformation truck from the garage of Art Socher. Art did a really nice job on the two tone paint change from the flat back that his truck had on it and if that was not enough, check out the truck bed the next time you are around this nice vehicle. Art is a high quality woodworker as seen in some of the items he has done for the club but he outdone himself with the bed in this vehicle, no stainless rub rails at all, it has real two tone wood back there too. Art surprised us all with this one, we did not expect this one to be redone especially since Art reacquired his Plymouth Convertible this past year and has proudly drove it to the Hines Park Cruise. The two tone paint really sets this truck off and makes it a show piece. We now have two recently redone trucks in the club with one more in the works at the Nash household.

Rodder of the Year 2012 Phil and Ann Reilly

As is the tradition of Motor State, the Rodder of the Year for 2012 was announced at our annual Christmas Party. Per the tradition, last years Rodder(s) of the year picked this years and as is the tradition, no rules are used in the pick. The 2011 Rodders of the Year, JoAnn Nash, Karen Plopan and Shirley Miller selected a very deserving couple for the 2013 winners based on their willingness to volunteer for any project or need of Motor State Street Rods. They also have hosted one of the Summer Meetings for several years now at their wonderful home in the Pickney area. Yes, great choice ladies for picking Ann and Phil Reilly as this years winner of Rodder of the Year. And thank you Anne and Phil for what you do for Motor State.

MSSR Christmas Party

By Jim Stocke
ANOTHER MSSR CHRISTMAS PARTY HAS COME AND GONE SOB, SNIFF, SNIFF The distant lights are dim from so far away but, ah, they brighten nicely as we motor our machines through the December darkness toward the one, the only, DeLucas that fabulous eating place which is host to the one, the only, MOTOR STATE STREET RODDERS YEA!!! Bring on Christmas, illustrious leader. So sit down we do. And now, the Rodder of the Year announcement is upon us. Karen, JoAnn and Shirley, please, front and center and reveal your ultimate decision. Up pop Karen, Joann and Shirley to announce, with baited breath, the lucky, deserving winner of this coveted award. And the winner is(pregnant pause here) is..ummmmm.Phil and Ann Reilly. Applause, hoots, hollers, hands clapping, seven swans a singing, stomping feet, waving arms. Kudos, accolades and congratulations to Phil and Ann, a deserving choice. All of us delight in those great summer parties they host. How cool is their home, boat, lake and pork loins. Okay, okay, enough early festivities. Lets get down to business and eat. Hey, who has the broasted chicken, Jim cries. Oh, oh, half the crowd speaks up. Hey, that broasted stuff is popular. How about the New York Strip or the Prime Rib, or the regular chicken or the great pasta dish. Dont forget those cheesy mashed potatoes and wonderful green beans that my mother used to force me to eat. And remember the pre dinner salad accompanied by some warm soft bread rolls. Ah, and whats for dessert? Oh, what else from an Italian restaurant, Spumoni of course. chrome and stainless nuts, bolts and washers along with some stainless engine bolt sets and a very cool display plaque of various logos embossed on bolt heads. Okay guys, start the bidding at twenty dollars. Do I hear 25.., 30.. Oh yeah, cool, 40. Do I hear more? Hey Don, thanks for the $45 dollar bid and its yours.

bring on the friends, but most important, bring on the food. Gorf, gorf, gorf.

And so it goes for four more: one by Dave Sabin, one more for Don and one for Jim. Bob gets the display and Dave bids again and gets all four engine bolt sets in one fell swoop. After the broo-ha-ha of the auctions settles, we find our charity fund $251 richer. A very nice sum. Now we can exercise our charity fund and do some good in the world. Okay, if an auction is not enough, how about a raffle? Joanne gets up; draws several names to take home the vases on each of the tables. By the way, Karen and Joanne once again did the table stuff including the vases and those cute, little clear plastic boxes of M & Ms at each place setting. Thanks to Karen for the

And so it was on this rainy evening that our much anticipated Christmas party came to fruition. Enter our private room duh well almost private if you ignored the diners on the other side of the short wall. Enter to be greeted by the din of conversation coming from the 48 folks who attended. Talk, talk, talk.

All the while we gab, gum flap, talk, converse, commiserate, bullshit and enjoy each others company. Maybe there should be a revision to our finest skill which is eating to another skill: supremely enjoying our great friends, members of the legendary Motor State Street Rods.

table decorations and gifts as well as Joanne again. And thanks to Rich for once again setting up DeLucas for our fabulous, fantastic and fun annual Christmas Party. It is all now a memory. Sob, sniff, sniff. I will take responsibility for this article, Jim Stocke

MSSR Cruisin Plans for 2013

2013 looks to be another great year for cruisin with Motor State Street Rods. Several events are planned for this year so we hope all of you can participate in some of these fun times. IN APRIL As soon as winter removes its grip on Michigan the cars will begin rolling out of the garages and be prepared for another great season. On April 27 and 28, some of the members will migrate to Willington Ohio for the first of four Ohio Mile Runs put on by the ECTA timing association. Not something that is exactly a spectator event is made fun by the presence of at least two of our members trying to run in the 200 mph range. IN MAY On the first weekend of May, some will head south for the NSRA Southern Nats in Knoxville TN so hopefully, the weather will be good for the trip and show the Blue Suede Cruise in Norwalk Ohio on the 19th through the 21st. Then it is back to Michigan for the Telegraph Cruise and the second MSSR Summer Meeting.

Lets See if Bob Likes It before that first cruise

Probably the most important thing you will do this year is have your car safety inspected. MSSR members are fortunate to have our very own Club President Bob Nash, be a NSRA Safety Inspector. We cannot express loud enough that each and every car needs a complete Safety Inspection before you head on down the road and if like me at a somewhat high rate of speed. And if you say, my car will not pass because it has no windshield wipers so why bother, well you are the one kidding yourself because yes, it will not pass the NSRA test but it may not also pass because you have not looked at a rag joint on the steering lately and got use to the slop that could eventually kill you but with an inspection, it will be pointed out to you for immediate correction before you die in an accident and if traveling with me, I hate picking up after you so for my sake get it inspected. Step one before you give it to Bob is to do a quick look yourself to the NSRA inspection requirements. Required Equipment Horn, Electric Only Speed Indicator, Speedometer or calibrated tachometer at 65 mph 3. Rear View Mirror, One inside or outside on drivers side of vehicle 4. Glass, Must be safety plate, lexon or tempered glass 5. Lighting, Hi-Beam, low-beam, tail, brake, license 6. Windshield Wiper, Electric or vacuum operated 7. Automatic Transmission Lockout, Neutral and or park start only 8. Tires, 3/32 tread acceptable, Must meet DOT specifications 9. Steering, No excessive play (2 radius max.) or binding; system must be safely mounted 10. Throttle Linkage, Must not travel past center 11. Fuel System, Check Vent on Trunk and Interior Mounted Tanks, no clear plastic lines allowed, no leaks 12. Exhaust System, No Leaks, Must pass rear edge of front door and exit exhaust away from vehicle 1. 2. Continued Nest Page

IN JUNE On June 8th, all MSSR Members will get a chance to pay back to Gardner Westcott for all they do for us by attending the Salem Michigan Flag Day and participate in the parade and show plus share some ice cream with the group. Also on June 8th and 9th is the second Ohio Mile for the speed demons. Later in the month will be the Downriver Cruise and hopefully all the construction that put a damper on this event last year will no longer exist and the traffic will be back to a nice flow. And last but not least will be the first MSSR Summer Meeting which are a do not miss fun time with great food and great company. IN JULY On the 6th and 7th will be the third Ohio Mile followed by the Goodguys Nationals in Columbus Ohio on the 12th through the 14th. Last year the heat was an major issue at this event so we are hoping for a nice summer time weekend. Another Ohio event will be

IN AUGUST We start this month off with a trip back south to the BIG SHOW, the NSRA Nationals in Louisville, KY. A group has already committed to this event but there is room for more if you want to attend. There you can see up to 10,000 cars and a multitude of vendors. Next up will be either the Woodward Dream Cruise or Back to the Bricks depending on your preference so we will see you at one of these events. Last rounding out the month, will be the last summer meeting at the Hines Park Cruise. All that attended last years cruise had a great time so plan on attending in 2013. One change will be the entry area which will be at the Merriman Road entry where you will be required to go right to the Nankin Mills turnaround area to head to our location east of Merriman. IN SEPTEMBER First up will be the Frankenmuth Autofest where in most cases the crew will be there on Friday enjoying the show. Then on to Kalamazoo for the NSRA Northern Nationals which has turned out to be a popular event for the members so plan on this one, it comes with a guarantee of fun with cars, family and friends. IN OCTOBER We are not done till we go to the IDIDIT Open House early in October, Last year was cold but that did not stop a great turnout and a fun day for all.

The Future of Hot Rodding

By Rich Pickens
Could this be the future of Hot Rodding, well it looks like a Hot Rod, got a lot of hand made parts like a Hot Rod, but wait a minute, it sure does not sound like a Hot Rod. If our government has anything to do with it, then all of us hard core rodders will have to start thinking green and this sure is green. An all electric hot rod, yep, electric. Several months ago back in 2012, Al Piggott got involved with Macomb Community College as an advisor on a neat project that the students were undertaking and the project involved creating an electric vehicle from scratch. So why not have some fun and do one that could go to cruise nights and car shows and deliver the message of battery powered vehicles while still being cool. Now they should of known better because Al is a poster child for things different and he has friends that are also out of the mold that they forgot to break when Al was conceived many years ago.. One of the other persons on the left of different is David Nedock who like Al is known for going real fast in a fuel funny car for many years but has of lately devoted his time to NEHR Speedcraft in Southfield that creates a Hot Rod in a Box for customers. Dave took on the challenge of creating the body and rolling components for the car and went a little crazy in terms of craftsmanship creating a truly beautiful work of art. Just take a gander at these photos to see some of the work coming out of his shop. And if you are not sure about driving a electric, remember, Mr. Piggott is involved and he likes thing fast so just wait till you see and not hear this thing rolling by, you may turn green.

Seen but not heard, not exactly your typical hot rods but remember, there are no rules in Hot Rodding.

Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Museum January 23td

By Kurt Kiser

Once a month the garage is open to the public serving donuts and coffee and allowing for a nice roaming in the confines of this well heated facility where you can look at anything from sports cars to antique vehicles as well as some good old Good old American Iron Plastic

On Wednesday, January 23, eight club members hit the road to visit the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum. These eight members braved the single digit temps that morning in the 2 hour drive to Auburn, Indiana Don and Gerri McKinnon, Rich Pickens, Lori Spisz, Jim Stocke, Denny Peters, John Shumont and Kurt Kiser. Once in Auburn, we gathered for some breakfast at the Bob Evans and then went off to the museum.

The museum contains over 120 cars and many photos and other interesting displays on the history of these three brands as well as other brands of automobiles built in Indiana, such as Studebaker, McIntyre and Crosley. The museum has the greatest and most extensive collection of Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg automobiles in the world, and features the largest exhibit of Duesenberg automobiles on public display in the world.

This museum is a National Historic Landmark that is really worth seeing. A visit can easily be done as a day trip from the Detroit area. The museum inhabits the former Auburn Automobile Companys national headquarters building that was built in 1929-30. The original 12,000 sq. ft.

There were three buildings specifically built to house this huge collection. Some of the most valuable and beautiful driving machines on the planet come into view. The excitement is intense. Ken Lingenfelter himself greets us a gracious and friendly guy who introduces us to Nathan, our guide. Nathan was knowledgeable and easy to talk with which enhanced our tour experience greatly. Trailblazer chassis, an extremely rare Porche 959, an Auburn (replica), a Prowlerwhew. And theres more but, you can see them in the club album. Maybe I should mention the DeLorean and Cadillac Allante. Mr. Lingenfelter probably included these to remind us that huge mistakes are sometimes made in the car business. So who braved the winter cold to trek to Brighton for this event? Okay here is the roster: Rich Pickens, Don McKinnon, John Gavasso, Dennis Peters, Al Piggot, Jim Stocke (thats me), Art Socher and Kurt Kiser and his friend, Rick. All of us thoroughly enjoyed this great collection. Us died in the wool car guys stick together. In order to calm our excitement at seeing such a sight as this beautiful collection, we decided that a respite at Bakers was in order. Bakers sure looks different on a non cruise day. The lunch crowd was almost nonexistent as is the case for many restaurants in mid winter on a Tuesday. But, the anticipation is there; all around us as we imagine summer and the world famous Bakers cruise days. Hurry up car season!

IDIDIT Seminars
First the good news: At the first seminar, the IDIDIT owners announced that 2012 was the best year they have had so far restoring our faith that Hot Rodding was not done. In addition, they also said they had hired new sales people and were now on board. We want to congratulate this outstanding family business on what they have accomplished over the past years and prove that a quality product made in America wins every time. Now one with the report on the seminars. presenting well beyond the time that was scheduled for the seminar as part of the crowd left with a head full of new ideas and techniques to use on that next build. under the weather this day, calls on everyone to pay attention as the festivities are starting. Settle down we do to listen to Brady Basner and Jim Morehouse of Powermaster talk for over three hours sharing their vast, detailed knowledge about starters and alternators. Yeah, I can hear it now. How can over three hours of starters and alternators be interesting? Well, car guys can listen for long periods and learn about such things and not get bored. My skepticism faded about 15 minutes into the program and I learned quite a lot about what may appear to be a rather mundane topic. Alas, only one other club member showed up: Dennis Peters. Ah, well, not everyone wants to brave the gray cold morning to hear about starters and alternators.

January 19th, House of Color

By Rich Pickens

Arriving on this cold day in January you would not know it was winter in Michigan, this was the largest crowd ever experienced at IDIDIT for a seminar. There was easily well over 250 people assembled for this seminar and could well of been the maximum that the shop could seat or handle. The first seminar was put on by House of Colors and presented by one of the premier painters of candy colors in not only the USA but worldwide. Jon Kosmoski gave a background of the history of the company and how he started the business when he noticed that others were interested in his candy mixes. Jon mixed the presentation of how tos with and intermix of stories of the various painters he has worked with in his 75 year history, yes still painting and building cars at 75 years old. Jon has almost 200 best of paint awards on his shelf from these years of working with paint. Jon went from the start, body preparation to final coat in the seminar giving us a lot of information on things he has learned in his experience. We went through not only the history of paints now being used and how they evolved but into the best of materials to use down to the sandpaper and grits to use including the things that will cause you problems in the long run if not done properly. Jon easily had 25 things that he said will cause problems down to the secrets of applying the actual paint and settling times between coats. Most of us will never get to the point of using candies since they are probably the hardest product to get right but his knowledge and steps in the process were valuable for anyone wanting to do their own prep and bodywork. Jon was still

POWERMASTER STARTERS AND ALTERNATORS Ken and Jane of Ididit sure know how to make the dreary Michigan winters a little brighter: Bring in folks involved in the hot rod industry to talk to local car guys about their products. A very simple idea that has been very successful. Hey, throw in a mid morning cookie/coffee break, a great lunch and you have a couple hundred car guys happy and smiling as a result of this cool car fix. And, so, for several years now, great informational presentations have happened at the Tecumseh home of Ididit once a month for three months in the dead of winter. I should mention that these seminars are great social events too. What more could you ask?

Autorama 2013
Fifty years of Ridler Winners, yes that is what 2013 is all about at the Detroit Autorama. Most of us are not even that old, sure, right they say. Some can even remember the very first winner of the Ridler when it was all about innovation and creativity that did not cost an arm and a leg. The First Ridler Winner Returned better paint for sure as the blue is flawless and eye candy. One great thing about this Autorama was the presence of 25 former Ridler winners and how they compare today with the recent winners. The standard of the day was unique considering you could win this award out of your garage exhibiting your skills, today, it takes an army of craftsman, some assigned just to a hood or trunk lid. Nice, really loved the Blue this year We could go on and on about the cars in the house at this anniversary edition of the Ridler Award since there were so many. Yes Hot Rods, mild to wild seem to make a comeback this year. This year had a lot of nostalgia and eliminated almost all motorcycles and tuners and seemed to hold back on the muscle cars somewhat Another Great Looking Car So here is the list of the Great Eight Winners for 2013. Meanwhile, In the Sunshine States

Drag Race Big Bird - Cool and the other was Black, also a 1965 Falcon Sprint was in the garage and it also had a 351 crate motor with 4 speed and air. There was also a model a coupe with a 302 with automatic and air. The best of all was that also in the garage was 1965

Danny Plopan sent in these pictures from a Lake Havasu event that is all about drag racing. There is a dream in this area that a new drag racing facility can be built and host events including old fashion nostalgia racing. Enjoy the pictures. Racing in the Streets Thanks Danny for the pictures, love to see what sunshine and warm weather looks like in February. ---------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, down Florida way, Gary Lazette sent in some photos and explained what is happening in Florida. The Pits On the first Saturday of every month the little town of Dade City Florida shuts the streets down for a car show. On the day of the show I was walking with a friend and he said there's your car up on the corner. Sure enough there was a 1939 Buick coupe like mine. I went up to look at it and it was red and had a red interior like mine. I talked to the owner and I told him that I had one like it. He laughed and said he has people say that all the time. He asked me if I had it at the show and I told him no that it was back in Michigan. After some more Chit - Chat he invited me to come to his garage and to bring a picture of my Buick so that he might look at it. I went out to his house not knowing what a treat I was in for. In the garage besides the 39 Buick It was a Ford lovers dream. The cars in the garage were a1939 Buick 460 cu. in. Ford powered Sunbeam Tiger with the 260 motor removed and replaced When is the last time you seen one of these in Street Rod Form

Shelby 350 Mustang and Ford GT. He told me that his next addition would be a Shelby Cobra. To make room for the Cobra he would sell the Coupe for $ 12,000 or the 2 fairlanes for $ 10,000 each.

Gotta Love this one

Thanks for the photos guys, helps us get through the winter in the Winter Wonderland. Yep, Pure Michigan sometimes is not so pure.

Saying Hello
Also down in Florida, Gary Lazette was stopped at a swap meet by two former members of Motor State Street Rods who sent along a greeting to all the members past and presents. A charter member of Motor State, Ray West and long time member Jack Krompatic said to tell everyone hello.

with a 302 there were 2 1964 Fairlane Sport Coupes both with 351 crate motors, 4 speeds and air, one Fairlane was Red

The Cruise kicks off the weekend show Love these old VWs It is tough to be green Danny and Karen also ventured over to Needles California to see how it is done in the land of fruits and nuts . LA Roadster Show Did they get it right

In Detroit, the most prestigious award for a show car is the Ridler Award. In California, it is the Americas Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) Award. In past years we have seen this award go to cars where each nut and bolt was degreed to perfection. This year there seemed to be a swing to more traditional builds as several cars in contention were not what were normally considered for this award. The Contenders

Latest on Michigan Year of Manufacture Plates

Authentic Historic Vehicle license plates are actual Michigan registration plates that match the year of manufacture (model year) of an historic vehicle, which is defined as a vehicle which is 26 or more years old, and which is owned solely as a collectors item and for participation in club activities, exhibitions, tours, parades and similar usesbut is not used for general transportation (MCL257.20a). Reproductions of license plates are not acceptable. An Authentic Historical Plate may be restored to like-new condition. However, the plate must use the same colors that were originally used for the plate year. Plate colors cannot be changed for any reason, including matching the vehicles color. The plate registration remains valid until the registrant sells, transfers, or scraps the vehicle. The plate may not be transferred to another vehicle. The historic vehicle must be deemed safe to operate on Michigan highways. The Secretary of State may revoke an authentic historic plate (MCL257.803p). Also: Authentic historic plat registrations are not maintained on the Law Enforcement Information Network (LIEN). To verify this registration, the police officer will review the owners validated registration document and/or send a LIEN inquiry to the Michigan Department of State. So make sure you have all the proper paperwork available in case of stopped by a law enforcement officer.

Cruisin and Other Ramblings

By the Editor
The new Ford Focus had an overheating problem on a particular engine recently and the fix was a software update, I bet anyone of us would have never envisioned this in the day. Even worse, just consider the cost of a fully trained mechanic these days, besides being able to turn a wrench; they are now required to get a PHD in computer science. My cardiologist is not that smart, or maybe the human body is not as complicated as vehicles anymore. For those of you that have not been on the Motor State Street Rods web site in awhile, check out the photo section which has some of our events being posted. Now you do not have to wait to see the great albums that Jim and Judy Stocke put together of our events, just go to the web site and see what you look like to others. And like mentioned earlier in the newsletter, you can always see a lot of our events on HotRodHotLine due to the great photographs of our own, Bob Steinhaus. I got to figure that the next energy crisis in the good old USA will be the power grid. The weird thing is that it will not be due to electric cars sucking up kilowatts but will actually be caused by the devices that we are all using these days in the form of phones, Ipods, Ipads, computers, games and you name it. This held true last Christmas when out of the 11 grandkids, only two had presents that did not plug into an electric outlet. Two good old dolls were cordless. The good thing is as kids we threaten to leave home when mom and dad grounded us, now they cannot go too far because the extension cord is too short to leave home. Just saying. For all you that need something to read, may I suggest the Mid-Michigan Street Rod Association Newsletter. They are kind enough to mail us a copy of this monthly edition (which the idea of Monthly wears me out at the thought of it) and each one is in our clubhouse reading rack. If you have ever gone to Kalamazoo and the NSRA Nats North, you have met some of the members who manage the registration and a gate at the fairgrounds. In addition, this is a large active club that has been around for over 40 years now and has got a proven track record of charity endeavors. Hats off to the club and hats off to any editor crazy enough to put together a monthly newsletter. And, if you see them at registration this year, thank them for all they do at this event to make life easy for you. A lot of you signed up for the newsletter to be mailed to your homes and we appreciate your support. Now since you are paying for the mailing, I do not have to watch how many pages as closely as before in order to keep the cost down. So we will do our best to get you some value for supporting the newsletter and keep it filled with the great events MSSR supports. In case you have not looked at our sponsor page lately you need to check it out since we have John Schumont on board with his louver business. We are getting great support from our members where you can buy or sell a house with the services of Sharon Ambroziak or get a car repaired by Mary Ann Schantzs son Doug at Dougs auto and truck services or up north by the Ballard family at Village Auto Service. Need paint or body, go straight to Ray Savage at Savage Rod and Custom in Canton or Woodwork at LaPrairie Wood Works and finally if your hair is a mess, see Lori Spiszs add on the sponsors page. And do not forget all those shiny nuts and bolts at Gardner Westcott make everything look better. I use to have a problem with people who bought cars and never drove them but after the tour at the Museum in Auburn IN I could just park this one in my living room and look at it forever, one problem though, it probably wont fit. Love this car though.

Rod Connection Featured Ride

Cruising since 1976

FUN WITH CARS, FAMILY and FRIENDS The Motor State Street Rod Car Club was founded in 1976 as a social club to promote safe, family enjoyment of modified vehicles. The club is a non-profit benevolent organization established to promote the enjoyment of older vehicles and protect the specialized interests of its members. In addition, the club lives up to its motto of "Fun with Cars, Family and Friends" with less structured activities that may include casual cruising, picnics, dances, dinners, swap meets, car shows, rod runs, cruise-ins, and monthly meetings. Funds raised every year are donated to various needy causes.

Dan Laskey 1947 Ford Coupe

The 1947 Ford line was similar to the short 1946. Visual differences included the removal of the red accents from the grill and the two small lights located just above it. Ford began titling 1947s in February 1947. For the first few weeks, the 1947 model was identical to the 1946. Ford then restyled the body slightly first by moving the parking lights from above the grill to below each headlight. Exterior moldings were changed from grooved to a smooth design. A new hood ornament with a blue plastic insert was installed. New hubcap design became available in March. Interior dash color was changed from red accent to gold. By September the roof mounted antenna was moved to the cowl. Horns were moved to in front of the radiator from the engine compartment. The final 1947 models were titled in November.
