Welcome U-Haul Car Share Member
This handbook is just one of the tools for you to use as a member of U-Haul Car Share. It is meant to make your U-Haul Car Sharing experience enjoyable and simple. This handbook also includes certain obligations, terms and conditions that apply to your use of the U-Haul Car Share Vehicle. You agree to read, understand and to follow this Member Handbook.

Reservations
1. Login to the U-Haul Car Share website using your user ID (email address) and password. 2. Select the location, time and type of car you would like to reserve. 3. Choose which of the available cars in your area you would like to reserve. 4. Click the “Reserve” button to select your vehicle. 5. Select the credit/debit card or other form of payment you would like to use to pay for your reservation. 6. Click “Confirm” to confirm your reservation. 7. You may print the confirmation in case there are any issues at the time of your reservation or you can choose to send a text confirmation to your cell phone. However, if you have a smart phone, we recommend printing to PDF and having a copy on your phone instead of printing to paper.

Before Driving
You shall wear seatbelts during operation of the U-Haul Car Share Vehicle. You shall require that all passengers wear their seatbelts. Before every trip, you must do a visual inspection of the U-Haul Car Share Vehicle inside and out. You must check for any noticeable defects in the operations or safety of the U-Haul Car Share Vehicle. You agree not to operate the U-Haul Car Share Vehicle when any defect in the operations or safety of the U-Haul Car Share Vehicle has been noticed by you during this inspection. You must check for damage inside and out including dents, large scratches, tears and windshield cracks. You agree to report minor damage in the U-Haul Car Share Guide located in the glove box (If damage has already been marked, there is no need to mark it again). If there is any serious damage that is not marked in the U-Haul Car Share Guide or the previous member left the U-Haul Car Share Vehicle in an unclean condition, please call us immediately at: 1-877-990-8227 Our vehicles have an orange keypad on them. Enter your 7-digit Access Code and press the [Enter] button to unlock the doors.

During Your Reservation
The key will remain in the vehicle at all times. Any time you exit the vehicle, press the [Lock] button on the keypad to lock the doors. To get back in, just re-enter your 7-digit Access Code and press the [Enter] button. If you get back in and the car will not start, exit the vehicle. Press the [Lock] button, then re-enter your Access Code and press [Enter].

Returning
Upon returning, park the U Car Share Vehicle in the same spot from where you picked it up. Be sure you collect all your personal items and have the vehicle in as clean condition as when you picked it up. Remember that the U Car Share member after you will use the vehicle the same way you leave it. Simply be courteous to other members. Simply press the [Lock] button on the keypad to end your reservation. Be sure that the doors are locked. *In the event that the U Car Share spot is occupied by another vehicle upon returning, call us immediately at 877-990-8227 and we will give you other parking options. It is never acceptable to leave a U Car Share vehicle in another metered parking space. You will be responsible for all tickets incurred for parking in a metered space during and/or after your reservation.

Fueling
We'll pay gas for you as long as you help us fill it up. As a member you are required to fill the tank when it reaches below ¼ tank. Please follow these directions: 1. The gas card is located on the driver side visor. 2. Like any other credit card, use it at the pump or bring it in to the attendant. 3. You will be asked to enter your Driver ID. (If you are in a vehicle with the new keypad, your Driver ID will be on your reservation confirmation page and your account page under My Profile.) 4. Enter the full odometer reading (Be sure it's not the trip meter). 5. Fill the tank completely with regular unleaded gasoline. 6. Tighten the gas cap completely and put the card back in the visor. These cards are accepted at most gas stations (one exception is ARCO). If the gas station does not, please continue to the next place or put some gas in it with your own credit or debit card and we will reimburse you upon submission of a receipt. In the event the gas card does not work, you have the option to put a maximum of $15 worth of gas on your own and U Car Share will reimburse you for that amount upon a properly submitted receipt.

Maintenance
In the event that a Vehicle requires minor maintenance including but not limited to windshield washer fluid, air in the tire, etc. we will reimburse expenses to satisfy that minor maintenance up to $15 with the submission of a receipt. For more serious maintenance issues, please contact us right away.

Notices
A. Notice to Company for Moving Traffic Violations and Tickets 1. Send email to Company at: tickets@uhaulcarshare.com B. Notice to Company and others for Emergencies and Accidents 1. Call 911 immediately IF there are any injuries. 2. Call ACCIDENT HOTLINE at 1-800-528-0355. 3. Send email to Company at: reportdamage@uhaulcarshare.com OR call U Car Share line at 1-877-990-8227. 4. The Glove Box Guide also offers assistance in the event of accidents. C. Your Notice to Company for Your termination of U Car Share Membership. 1. Send email to Company at: member@uhaulcarshare.com HELP TO AVOID LATE FEES Please opt-in to our text message notifications. We will send you a text message 30 minutes before your car is due back as a reminder. Also, if it is available to extend we will let you know in the text.

No Unauthorized Drivers
Only approved Members and Authorized Drivers are allowed to operate the U-Haul Car Share Vehicle. Members are subject to immediate membership termination upon any use of their reserved U-Haul Car Share Vehicle by an unauthorized driver. We reserve all rights against you and any unauthorized driver for any loss or damage that we incur or that is incurred by a third party, resulting from the use of the U Car Share Vehicle by an unauthorized driver.

No Transportation of certain articles/Transportation to Mexico/Observe laws
You will not store or transport any flammable, alcohol, toxic, volatile, poisonous, dangerous, or illegal substances, in the U Car Share Vehicle. You will not take a U Car Share Vehicle into Mexico. This includes temporary border crossings. You will observe all applicable provisions of the federal, state and local laws and regulations when operating a U Car Share Vehicle.

Parking Citations, Moving Violations, Tow Charges and Tolls
You shall be responsible for any applicable federal, state or municipal compliance, and pay any fees or taxes in conjunction with Your

use of the U Car Share Vehicle. You shall pay directly to that authority any and all citations, fines, penalties, moving violations, tow charges, tolls and toll surcharges incurred by You or resulting from Your use of the U Car Share Vehicle.

Payment Plans/Rates:
Once approved, You acknowledge that You, the Member, like all other first time Members, are automatically singed up on a “pay as you go plan”. You have the option to upgrade to a higher tier account that is billed according to the rate plan you have chosen. You can view your current rate plan by logging in and clicking on the “Account” tab. You can upgrade to any discounted rate plans at any time. You agree that any change to a lower discount or standard rate plan will take effect at the start of the following billing cycle as noted in Your account. You agree that the hourly reservation rates for each Vehicle are posted on the Web Site and that You have read, understood and agree to those hourly reservation rates. You agree that the hourly reservation rates for each Vehicle may be modified at anytime and You agree that they are effective immediately upon posting to the Web Site. Company agrees that newly modified hourly reservation rates will not apply retroactively to existing reservations. You agree that the mileage rates and/or mileage allotted for each Vehicle are posted on the Web Site and that You have read, understood and agree to those mileage rates and mileage allotments. You agree that mileage rates and mileage allotments are based on a per day allotment and not on a cumulative allotment for the entire reservation. For example, if You have a 2 day reservation and You are allotted 180 miles per day, You are given 180 miles for day 1 and another 180 miles for day 2. Therefore, You are not given more than 180 miles per day for that 2 day reservation. You agree that Vehicle mileage rates may be modified at anytime and You agree that they are effective immediately upon posting to the Web Site. Company agrees that any newly modified mileage rates will not apply retroactively to existing reservations.

LATE RETURN AND LATE RETURN FEE:
You agree that Your failure to return the Vehicle as You agreed can result in monetary loss and/or damages to Company, including but not limited to lost revenue damages. Therefore, we reserve our rights to charge You for, and You agree to pay for, any and all monetary loss or damage incurred as a result of Your failure to return the Vehicle as You agreed. Because You are sharing the Vehicle with other members, You agree to adhere to Your scheduled reservation times. You agree that there may be other members waiting for You upon Your return. You agree that if You are late in returning the Vehicle, You may be charged a fee and You agree to pay that fee subject to the following: If you return the Vehicle after expiration of Your reservation and You DO NOT CALL us before your reservation expires: (i) You will be charged and You will pay a $50.00 fee PLUS any hourly or partial hourly charges incurred. If you return Vehicle after expiration of Your reservation and You DO CALL us before your reservation expires AND IF another member has reserved Your Vehicle for use right after the expiration of Your reservation: (i.) You will be charged and You will pay a $50.00 fee IF you are more than five (5) minutes late returning the Vehicle. In addition, You will be charged and You will pay for any costs that Company incurs taking care of that other waiting member including but not limited to any taxi or bus fares. You will also be charged and You will pay any hourly or partial hourly charges incurred. If You return Vehicle after expiration of Your reservation and You DO CALL us right before your reservation expires AND IF another member has NOT reserved Your Vehicle for use right after expiration of Your reservation: (i.) You will be charged and You will pay a $50.00 fee IF You are more than fifteen (15) minutes late returning the Vehicle. You will also be charged and You will pay any hourly or partial hourly charges incurred.

OTHER FEES THAT MAY BE INCURRED BY YOU AND THAT YOU AGREE TO PAY:
Credit/Debit Card Decline If Your credit/debit card declines for any reason and You are late on payment, You will be charged and You will pay a $50 late payment fee. Upon a declined credit/debit card, Your membership will be temporarily inactive until You login again and provide a valid credit/debit card. Failure to Refuel Fee For Your reservation, if You do not refuel the Vehicle when it reaches below ¼ tank, You will be charged and You will pay a $50 fee for failure to refuel the Vehicle. Smoking/Pets Fee You agree that there is no smoking allowed in the Vehicle. You agree that Pets ARE allowed, but in approved pet carriers only. You agree that if You allow smoking in the Vehicle or pets outside of carriers in the Vehicles, then You will be charged and You will pay a $50

fee PLUS the full cost of cleaning and damage caused by smoking or pets to the Vehicle. Cleaning Fee If you leave the Vehicle interior soiled or with trash, You will be charged and You agree to pay a $50 cleaning fee. Ignition Key/Key Fob Replacement Fee In the event of a lost key or Fob, You will be charged and You will pay a $50 re-key/ re-Fob fee PLUS the cost of replacement. Failure to note damage caused by previous member If You fail to note in the Vehicle Guide any damage caused by that immediate prior user of the Vehicle, You will be charged and You will pay a $50 failure to note damage fee. Abandonment of Vehicle If You abandon the Vehicle without good cause, You will be charged and You will pay a $50 fee PLUS any applicable costs to tow and/or recover the Vehicle.

Primary Account Holder Responsibilities
You, the primary account holder have the option of adding additional drivers to your account. Feel free to invite your spouse or children to join your account. As the primary account holder, you authorize U Car Share to charge your credit card for any reserved time and/or fees that may come about from any approved members on your account. In the “Manage Drivers” section of your account settings, you can adjust the usage you will allow your secondary-account members to have. This can be in the form of limiting the times of use or the amount of use on your credit/debit card. Keep in mind that you are responsible for any fees, including late fees beyond an allowed time, associated with that member's use of the vehicle.

Secondary Account Holder Responsibilities
As a secondary account holder, you have the option to add your own credit card as a form of payment for reservations outside specified parameters set by your primary account holder. In the event you select to use your own credit/debit card as a form of payment, you are taking full responsibility for any and all rates and fees associated with the use of the vehicle.

Corporate Account Holder Responsibilities
If you are a corporate account administrator, you have the option of adding additional drivers to the corporate account. Feel free to invite your employees, faculty and staff to join the account as you see fit. As the corporate account administrator, you authorize U Car Share to charge your corporate account for any reserved time and/or fees that may come about from any approved members on the account. In the “Manage Drivers” section of your account settings, you can adjust the usage you will allow your secondary-account holders to have. This can be in the form of limiting the times of use or the amount of use on your corporate account. Keep in mind that you are responsible for any fees, including late fees beyond an allowed time, associated with that member's use of the vehicle. A corporate account administrator must approve all drivers on the account and has the ability to remove drivers at any time.
