Junior Council - Outdoor Ice Rink Project
Council authorized Junior Council and Staff to contact School District No. 27 to discuss the use of Poplar Glade as a site for an outdoor public ice rink. Junior Council recently made a presentation to Council for the idea, which has been identified through a planning process. Junior Council’s goal was to find a project that would benefit the community and would provide a learning opportunity for members. discarded community banners to the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society for recycling and repurposing in the future. The banners will be into reusable shopping bags for the community.

Request for Use of City Staff and Equipment for 2013 Indoor Rodeo
Council authorized payment of 50% of the cost of hauling dirt in and out of the arena for the Williams Lake Indoor Rodeo for 2013 only. Council believes this is a great event for Williams Lake. A number of City staff have volunteered to operate the City’s equipment to haul the dirt in and out, as they have for a number of years. They will volunteer between 70 and 90 man hours on the project, reducing the cost to the City.

World Water Day - Rachel Glessing
Rachel Glessing, a grade 7 student at Chilcotin Road School, gave Council a presentation on World Water Day. The Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society’s water Wise program will host a free swim at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex Friday, March 22, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. to recognize World Water Day. In addition, the Society welcomes the community to an Earth Challenge at Thompson Rivers University on Friday, April 12. It will feature displays and a quiz show.

‘Queen’s Diamond Jubilee’ Award Presentation to Mayor Kerry Cook
Cariboo Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett presented the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal to Mayor Kerry Cook for her contributions to the city and the region.

Nutrition Run - April 7, 2013
The annual Nutrition Run will be held on Sunday, April, 7, starting at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex, to celebrate spring, healthy eating and active living. Council encouraged the community to participate.

Ride Don’t Hide Event - June 23, 2013
The Cariboo Chilcotin branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association will host a fundraiser featuring a community bike ride on the River Valley Trail on June 23. Funds raised will be used in Williams Lake to provide mental health services and programs. Council encouraged the community to participate.

Bowl For Kids Sake - April 13 &1 4, 2013
Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Williams lake will hold the annual Bowl For Kids Sake on April 13 and 14. Council encouraged the community to participate.
