DRAFT MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) Between Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology P.O.

I.

INTRODUCTION In today’s world of dynamic and rapid development in technology; industry requires trainees with skills and solutions that are both innovative and tailored to meet their requirements. Matching students with these skills and industry requirement is a growing challenge. At a National level, Vision 2030 has prioritized enhancing manufacturing productivity for global competitiveness.

The partnership points will entail:
i.

Supplementary Training in the Curriculum:
a) Supplementing existing courses in the curriculum with industry specific trainings.

Students will have access to Centurion’s specialized equipment. This will help them develop a critical familiarity in working with fully functioning systems which will develop their technical skills and help reach an approach that is aligned to the industrial work environment, thus better preparing them for professional work. Further Centurion will organize interaction forums with renowned industrialists to promote industry based information. The initial systems courses to start off this partnership will be:

PLC – (Programmable Logic Controls) Speed Drives Scada- (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Pneumatics Hydraulics Process Control Industrial communication Instrumentation and calibration

Siemens Mechatronics Certification Program (SMCP) Level One (I) Level Two (II)

ii.

Training of Trainers(ToTs): This will involve capability development and building of skills aimed at refreshing lecturer skills on the above courses.

iii.

Development of Training Equipment: Facilitating and enhancing existing laboratories to have modern equipment for current and emerging technologies in collaboration with external partners such as Siemens.

iv.

Deliverables- Centurion Systems

The curriculum will give the student (Electrical or Mechanical) an additional Industry Certification so that they could immediately work on industrial systems. The methodology will be based on the existing curriculum but based on a system approach teaching and learning through hands on practice. Access to fully equipped training laboratories at a minimal cost Highly qualified trainers Mentorship forums

GENERAL TERMS FOR THE CO- OPERATION

The co-operation will be conducted in a spirit of mutual benefit, fairness, goodwill and equity and the parties agree that they will use their reasonable efforts to make it successful.

The parties accept that this MOU can only serve as a framework and that its implementation will be resolved through discussion and joint agreement between representatives of CENTURION SYSTEMS LTD, and Management of the institute. III. IMPLEMENTATTION

Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology agrees to:

Inclusion of our training program in the curriculum, the practical aspect. Play a role in support for infrastructure and development. Avail Lecturers for training Encourage their students to participate in our practical training

Provide training/equipment at a negotiated fee Provide qualified trainers. Carry out research on areas of automation.

IV.

THE PARTIES AGREE THAT THIS SECTION V IS THE ONLY BINDING SECTION OF THIS MOU.
