CIO Technology Update

Omni Hotel at CNN Center 100 CNN Center, NW Atlanta, GA 30303 On Monday, September 30, 2002, the U.S. Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid {FSA} Office of the Chief Information Officer {CIO} will host its second open-source FSA/CIO Technology Update Session. We expect about 150 information technology executives to attend. This one-day Session will be held at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia, and will be held in partnership with EDUCAUSE. EDUCAUSE 2002 Annual Conference will be held October 1-4, 2002 at the Georgia World Congress Center, in Atlanta, Georgia. We are inviting about 150 chief information officers from colleges and universities, vice presidents of technology, corporate executives, and others interested in information technology. Many of our invitees are members of EDUCAUSE. Our Keynote Speaker is Dr. James B. Thomas, Dean of Penn State’s School of Information Sciences and Technology. Dr. Thomas also holds the academic rank of professor of information sciences, technology, and management.

Hotel Reservation Information
To accommodate Session attendees who plan to stay overnight, a limited number of hotel sleeping rooms has been blocked for a one-night stay, at a special conference rate. The cutoff date to receive the special rate is September 11, 2002, so we strongly encourage you to make your hotel arrangements early. It is possible that these sleeping rooms could sell out before the cutoff date. After the cutoff date, reservations will be accepted based on room availability at the Hotel’s available rate. Room Rates Single occupancy: $119.00 + 14% State tax; $129.00 + 14% State tax for double occupancy. In-room technology include high-speed Internet access at a flat rate, three telephones with dual phone lines, voice mail, workstations with dataports, and WebTV. Complimentary USA Today is delivered to rooms each morning.
