AT&T EXPANDS 4G LTE COVERAGE TO MORE LATHAM CUSTOMERS

Additional Cell Sites Upgraded to 4G LTE as Part of Ongoing AT&T Investment in Local Wireless Network LATHAM, N.Y., Mar., 26, 2013 As part of its continuing network investment and ongoing 4G LTE rollout, AT&T* has upgraded two additional mobile Internet cell sites in the Latham area to to expand AT&T 4G LTE coverage for area residents and businesses. Areas where AT&Ts 4G network was upgraded to LTE includes Latham and north of Albany International Airport on Route 7 (TroySchenectady Road) and to the I-87 Northway south of Twin Bridges. AT&T has the nations fastest 4G LTE network.** AT&T 4G LTE is the latest generation of wireless network technology and provides several benefits for local residents, including faster mobile Internet speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G, improved performance and innovative new 4G LTE-compatible devices. AT&T launched its ultra-fast 4G LTE network in Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, Saratoga, and Saratoga Springs, in 2012 and in Ithaca earlier this year. The new cell sites are one part of AT&Ts ongoing efforts to expand 4G LTE coverage and to drive investment and innovation to deliver the nations best, most advanced mobile Internet experience for customers. Our goal is for our customers to have an extraordinary experience, and theyll be able to download, upload, stream and game faster than ever before on our 4G LTE network, said Marissa Shorenstein, president, AT&T New York. As part of the Albany community, were always looking for new

opportunities to provide enhanced coverage, and our investment in the local wireless network is another way were accomplishing that. AT&T invested more than $1.4 billion in its New York wireless and wireline networks from 2010 through 2012, with a focus on expanding 4G LTE mobile Internet coverage and enhancing the overall performance of its networks. AT&Ts 4G Network AT&Ts innovation and investment has resulted in the nations largest 4G network, covering 288 million people with ultra-fast speeds and a more consistent user experience. Our 4G LTE network delivered faster average download speeds than any of our competitors in PCWorlds most recent 13-market speed tests. AT&Ts 4G LTE network delivers speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G***, as well as multiple innovations that optimize the network for performance. Our networks radio components are placed close to the antenna at most cell sites, instead of inside the base station, which helps minimize power loss between the base station and antenna and, in turn, improves the performance of our 4G LTE network. The network also is designed with its core elements distributed across the country, which helps reduce latency, or the delay when using the Internet, because your request isnt traveling as far. Even as AT&T continues to expand its 4G LTE coverage, customers can get 4G speeds outside of 4G LTE areas on our 4G HSPA+ network, unlike competitors, where smartphone customers fall back to slower 3G technologies when outside of LTE coverage. Project Velocity IP is AT&Ts strategic plan to invest $14 billion over the next three years to expand its wireless and wireline IP broadband networks. As part of Project Velocity IP, AT&Ts 4G LTE network is expected expand to cover 300 million people by year-end 2014, and its wireline IP network is expected to extend to 57M customer locations, covering 75% of locations in AT&Ts wireline service area by year-end 2015.
