Responsibilities: Serve as conduit between Brooks Automation Engineering team and Brooks Contract Manufacturer partners in Singapore and Malaysia. Assure supplier compliance with controlled methods, operational sequences and processes used in the manufacturing or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. Interface with design engineering and CM to coordinate the release of new products or implement engineering changes to existing products. Continually drive down manufacturing costs by monitoring current labor standards and work with the CM to implement tools, fixtures and manufacturing methods. Monitor key in-process yield metrics to continually reduce waste / rework in the manufacturing process and to ensure quality of the product shipping to Brooks customers worldwide. Interface between Product Engineering and CM to coordinate all engineering changes Perform audits of CM Quality Management System to ensure revision controls are in place, processes are being followed and environmental and regulatory requirements are being met Monitors supplier scrap, non-conforming material and test yields: Work with CM on improvement plans as required Lead transfer of new products from design group to full production: Evaluate newly designed products, customs and specials with regard to manufacturability and serviceability Oversee building of production prototypes for new and custom products in the development stages of the projects Qualify process improvements designed to reduce manufacturing costs while maintaining and/or increasing the quality and reliability of assigned products Assists purchasing in technical matters pertaining to vendor evaluation, selection and sharing of manufacturing technology Participate in the design of product line layouts, workstation layouts, equipment and material flow layouts, and stock storage Requirements: Experience with Lean manufacturing concepts and applications Experience with Design for Manufacture principles and applications Bachelors degree with 5+ years experience, or Masters with 2+ years, or its equivalent Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with manufacture of electro-mechanical products Strong skills in computer software including Word, Excel and Access. Knowledge of programming languages, such as LABVIEW a plus Familiarity/experience with ISO, CE, and TUV certification and associated audits Familiarity/experience with international quality standards desirable, such as six sigma and statistical process control Knowledge of basic vacuum practices and equipment such as pumps, valves, gauges, RGAs, etc., a plus
