Alexis wasn't sure where she was going exactly. The only thing she knew was, she did not want to go home. She could not face Kristina right now. She needed some time alone to think, her emotions were swirling out of control. Alexis breezed through the snowy streets of Port Charles, mindless of where she was heading, and of the approaching storm. An hour later she brought the car to a stop in front of the Jack's cabin. "I'm sure Jax won't mind." She thought. Alexis frowned when she noticed a light on in the cabin. She remembered where Jax hid the spare key. She unlocked the door and was surprised to find a fire burning in the fireplace. "Hello?" She called out, knowing someone else was there. "Alexis?" Came the familiar voice. "Jax!" She said, breathing a sigh of relief. "What are you doing here?" Jax asked in concern. Alexis closed her eyes, feeling a little foolish about coming here. "I… I just decided to get away for the weekend." Alexis stammered. "So you thought about my cabin?" Jax asked with a raised brow. "I didn't think you would mind." Alexis explained her embarrassment clear. "Of course I don't mind!" Jax admitted, before moving across the room. "My timing is terrible tonight." She said with a defeated sigh. "Alexis, your being here isn't a problem." Jax assured her. "Do you need me to get your things out of the car?" She noticed the look on his face, and knew right away what he thought. "No, I didn't bring anything." She said, as a chill passed thru her. "You're cold. Go warm up by the fire." Jax said, ushering her toward the fireplace. "I just made a pot a coffee; I'll get you a cup." He disappeared into the kitchen. She sat down in front of the fireplace, hugging herself as her body trembled. Alexis wasn't exactly sure why she was suddenly so cold. Maybe it had to do with all the things that had happened tonight: first her fight with Sonny, then seeing Kristina and Ned together. Tears slipped from her eyes. Knowing that Ned had moved on was hard enough, but the fact that he was moving on with her sister was unbearable. Alexis was so lost in misery, that she hadn't heard Jax when he offered her the coffee. It wasn't until he wrapped a blanket around her and pulled her into an embrace that she realized his presence. "Shh, what's wrong Alexis?" Jax asked softly. "Ja- Jax.. I ruined everything." Alexis sobbed. "That's not true." Jax said forcefully. "Tell me who hurt you? Was it Sonny?" Jax asked his blue eyes growing darker by the minute. "No Jax, this isn't about Sonny!" She said. She pulled away from him. "I'm sorry, Alexis I just want to help." Jax said softly. "I know Jax, and I'm sorry." Alexis said in a defeated whisper. "Don't be sorry, tell me what's wrong and how I can help." He touched her face. Alexis closed her eyes, letting his touch comfort her. "You're doing it." She admitted surprised. Blue eyes held hers captive for several seconds. "Talk to me." He took her hand in his and gave it a gentle squeeze. She looked away; not really knowing where to begin. This night had been filled with many revelations. "I don't know, where to start..." "Just tell me what you' re feeling." Jax urged. "That's just it, I don't understand what I'm feeling." Her voice was a mixture of frustration and desperation. "Or why." She added as an after thought. Jax wanted to help her, he couldn't stand seeing her so beside herself. He had a feeling that this was something that she needed to get out in the open, so he urged on. "What are you feeling, Alexis?" She met his endearing eyes and smiled despite herself. Jax was her friend and he cared for her and wanted to help her. "I'm angry and hurt." There she said it. "Angry and hurt? Who are you angry with?" Jax questioned quickly. "Kristina." Alexis admitted in shame. Jax frowned, he hadn't expected that. "What did she do?" He asked.
"Nothing Jax, I have no right to be angry with her. She asked me straight out, if I was okay with her dating Ned, and I thought I was." "So this is about Ned?" Jax asked shocked. "In a way. After everything that Ned and I shared, how could he ever consider dating Kristina?" Jax heard the pain and disgust in her voice. "Didn't Ned know that it would hurt me to see him with her?" Jax didn't say anything; he let her continue to rant. "And Kristina, what kind of sister would consider going out with her sister's ex? It's disgusting!" Jax sat quietly, his eyes glowing with amusement. She noticed the look on his face and her eyes narrowed. "I know what you're thinking Jax." "Do you?" He teased. "Yes! If it bothered me so much, then why did I tell Kristina and Ned it was okay if they dated." Alexis said, guessing his thoughts. "Well.. Yeah!" "Because Ned doesn't know me at all. We were together for four years Jax! In all that time he supposedly loved me. Then how could he just disrespect what we had by going after my sister? He had to know that it would hurt me to see them together. Ned should have loved me enough not to hurt me this way. He put me in an impossible situation. Either way someone gets hurt. I just found my sister; the last thing, I want to do is keep her from being happy." She took a breath. Feelings that had been buried came to surface in such a rush. Alexis was as shocked by the words leaving her mouth as Jax. "I'm sorry." Jax whispered. He had watched her pace around the room. "I knew Ned dating Kristina would hurt you." He admitted. He walked to her side, placing his hands on her shoulders. Alexis leaned in, her head resting on his chest. His hands went to her waist. "You would, you are always looking out for me. That's the difference between you and Ned, you actually put others first. Ned is all about Ned." She realized bitterly. "You're my favorite ex-wife and I worry about you." He whispered in her ear as if he was sharing some big secret. "I know, and I love you for it." Alexis said. "I saw them tonight at L&B and they weren't working." "Oh." Jax said, his heart was pounding so fast. He had always kept his feelings for her at bay because he didn't want to ruin their friendship, and he believed that she still had feeling for Ned. But holding her now, he tempted to risk everything to be her lover.
The song of a little bird The joy in three little words I know it's real That's how it feels To be loved by you The stars from a midnight sky The melody from a lullaby There's nothing real That I wouldn't steal To be loved by you
"I'm really over Ned, It just hurts that he still doesn't understand me." Alexis admitted. "You sure about that?" Jax asked, not sure if he really wanted to hear the answer. "I'm sure Ned and I are finished. He never took the time to understand who and what I'm about." She said truthfully. "Is Ned the only reason you came here tonight?" Jax asked gently.
To be loved by you If every body knows It's only 'cause it shows
She spun around to face him, the tenderness in his eyes, made her tremble. "What?" Her voice was laced with surprise. "I was wondering if your sudden need to escape didn't have something to do with Sonny." There he had said the man's name again. "Why does everyone think my life revolves around Sonny? It doesn't Jax!" Alexis said bitterly. "Doesn't it?" Jax asked, his temper getting the best of him. "No, Sonny is a client and he is also a friend, a friend who doesn't have the good sense to realize when he's being used." She said sarcastically. "Jealous?" Jax asked, his eyes wide in shock. He hadn't meant to voice that thought. "No, I'm not jealous. I just don't understand how someone as smart is Sonny, can be so stupid when it comes to Carly." "Love isn't always smart Alexis, but that's the beauty of it." Jax said, quoting Lady Jane's philosophy on love.
She laughed, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "And Lady Jane thinks you don't listen to her. "Do you have feelings for Sonny?" "No." She replied so softly it was unsettling to his senses. They started at each other for the longest time. Alexis wasn't even sure if Jax had heard her reply to his question. "I'll admit that I was upset with Sonny tonight, but he is not the reason I came here. I honestly don't know why I came here, I just didn't want to be at home tonight." Jax wanted to believe that her being there, had nothing to with Sonny. "I guess we both needed a break." He said. "I guess… or maybe its fate." Alexis stammered. His first thought was to deny it. To fight the reality within Alexis's word but his heart refused to let her. Nodding reluctantly, Jax dared to listen to his heart no matter how dangerous it was. "Maybe." He said in a voice so low that at first he wasn't sure Alexis had even heard him. When she came to stand in front of him, her eyes were burning with passion. Jax knew his words had carried.
A smile to put you on a high A kiss that sets your soul alight Would it be all right if I spent tonight Being loved by you
Jax kissed her mouth, but held back what pulsed between them. "Are you sure about this?" He asked. "Yes." Came her breathless reply. Their lips met. She caressed his tongue with hers as it delved into her mouth. His hand moved to the bottom of her shirt and began inching it up, up...
Your love is released And you move me with ease And you rescue me time after time Oh Oh you give your all And you take it all in your stride
A low groan rumbled in his throat as their kiss deepened. He drew her as close to him as possible. He lifted her into his arms and carried her to the bedroom. Their lovemaking had been tender and passionate, and full of discovery. All their secrets were revealed to each other. They were connected to each other in ways neither of them thought possible. ***** Alexis awakened to find him watching her. He lay on his side facing her, silent and still, the only part of him moving was his eyes. They wandered over her face and hair, cataloging every detail. He whispered her name huskily before his mouth moved down on hers. Lips touched, parted, and touched again.
Oh with all the power of a symphony That's how my heart beats when you're holding me I can't conceal, this is how it feels To be loved by you Oh yeah, to be loved by you If everybody knows, it's only 'cause it shows Because I take your love, Everywhere I go I know what it is I need, it's clear as a shallow stream It's as it seems, my only dreams To be loved by you
"Good morning." She said breathless. "Hmm. Good morning." Jax wrapped his arms around her. They fell into a content silence. Neither of them was sure what was happening between them. Neither of them wanted to discuss the future, they just wanted to live in the moment and enjoy the magic they had discovered, at least for the weekend. Reality could wait until Monday. The End.
