Types of interaction: T S, S T Level: ELEMENTARY Subject: ENGLISH Unit of learning: MY FOOD LESSON 2 Students Book: SET SAIL 1 Main focus: LANGUAGE FOCUS Date: March, 29th Aims: to give students practice in speaking and listening/comprehension skills; to introduce vocabulary: bread, egg, cheese, chocolate, sandwich, plate; to make pupils feel more positive about using English in short conversations; to practise the new vocabulary;

Language functions: Introducing the new words through the flashcards; Asking about the words they learned last time. Assumed Knowledge: Students are familiar with: Oral commands like: Please, stand up. Listen to the CD and,.

Anticipated problems: If there are any (e.g. unknown words, difficulty in understanding, etc.), teacher will clarify them. Materials: Students books, cassette player, flashcards, worksheets. LESSON STAGES ACTIVITY 1: WARM UP AIM: to get students ready for the English class by having an informal conversation (greetings, How are you?, weather, etc.) TIMING: 1 minute TYPE OF INTERACTION: T S, S T PROCEDURE: T greets the Ss and asks them how they are and about the weather. Pupils respond to informal questions.

ACTIVITY 2: HOMEWORK CHECK-UP AIM: to check whether students have accomplished their task well. TIMING: 2 minutes TYPE OF INTERACTION: T S, S T PROCEDURE: T asks some Qs like Have you done your HW? Was it difficult? Who wants to read? and then T names a few pupils to read their HW and asks the others to check their HW and correct it if necessary. Pupils respond individually. Teacher involves all SS. Everybodys HW is checked.

ACTIVITY 3: TRANSITION TO THE NEW LESSON AIM: to make the connection between the pupils already learned and the new lesson TIMING: 5 minutes TYPE OF INTERACTION: T S, S T PROCEDURE: Teacher shows the flashcards and ask Does anyone remember this? What is this? What about this?. Pupils have to repeat the last words by answering to teacher`s questions. ACTIVITY 4: PRESENTATION (NEW LESSON PROPER) AIM: To make the students talk about food and to know how to give orders TIMING: 5 minutes TYPE OF INTERACTION: T S, S T PROCEDURE: Teacher announces the new topic and he shows the new flashcards to the pupils. He asks Does anyone know what it is in the picture?. He named the items and the children have to repeat. ACTIVITY 5: PRACTISING NEW LANGUAGE STAGE 1: LISTENING AND MAKING DIALOGUES ( AIMS: - to give Ss practice in using the new language; - to get Ss involved in mini-dialogues. TIMING: 14 minutes TYPE OF INTERACTION: T S, S S PROCEDURE: Pupils are asked to open the books (on page 46). Teacher asks them about the pictures (What do we have in the picture? What is it on the table?), he is making a discussion around the picture to make sure the pupils understand and assimilate the new words. Pupils have to listen to a song and to look carefully at the pictures and to point to the items that are mentioned in it. Then teacher encourages them to sing it too.

STAGE 2: FEEDBACK AIMS: - to consolidate what was learned during the class and to recycle some vocabulary. - to offer more practice. TIMING: 5 minutes TYPE OF INTERACTION: T S, S T PROCEDURE: Teacher asks the pupils to turn the page on 47 and to look at the pictures. Teacher asks what they see in each picture. Then the pupils have to listen to a dialogue and to pay attention to the pictures. In the end they are supposed to guess what item mentioned in the song is missing from the pictures. ACTIVITY 6: ASSESSMENT AIM: - to evaluate Ss work TIMING: 12 minutes TYPE OF INTERACTION: T S PROCEDURE: Teacher plays a game with his pupils. Each child has to pick a word from those learnt and to say I like For this they are awarded with a worksheet in which is drawn their picked word. ACTIVITY 7: HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT AIM: - to assign Ss HW - TIMING: 1 minutes - TYPE OF INTERACTION: T S PROCEDURE: For the next time you have paint your images. ACTIVITY 8: DISMISS PUPILS.
