BID FOR NRHH VICE PRESIDENT OF ADMINISTRATION 2013-2014
Dear Makato Ushihara Chapter, My name is Eric Lavi and I would be honored to run for the position of Vice President of Administration for the San Jose State University National Residence Hall Honorary 2013-2014. For those who do not know me as well, I am currently a third year psychology major here at SJSU. After serving on the RHA Executive Board as the Vice President of Administration and Secretary of Campus Village B's Hall Government of 2011-2012, I have found out a lot more about myself than I would have ever expected. I used to be a quiet and shy resident who was not very active in his community. Through RHA, I learned to be a better leader and more active in the residence halls. I love collaborating with others and working with the residents to provide them with the best housing experience as possible! In joining the NRHH Executive Board, I can help recognize a variety of demographics. I work and am a member of organizations around campus including the Mental Health Ambassadors of the Counseling Services as well as Peer Connections. I am also active in the Residence Hall Association as well. The reasons that make me best qualified for this position are my administrative, professional, and collaborative skills. The experience I’ve gained as this year’s VP of Administration has really helped me with my professional development. I've learned how to create and administer the organization's website, learned marketing skills and helped brand the RHA name, and create a professional newsletter for all of SJSU Housing. Although, a lot of these things were new to myself while adjusting to the new position in the beginning of the Fall 2012 semester, I loved every minute of the experience.
The best part of my job is interacting with the residents, but more importantly the student leaders who go above and beyond in their duties to make a greater impact. In my eyes, these leaders need the proper recognition that they deserve. As being the leader of the RHA Help Our Planet Earth Committee, I would want to lead the Culture of Clean event and make it large scale. I have also learned to effectively work with the team of RHA Executive Board members, so I am excited to become a part of NRHH's. As this year comes to an end, I am very confident in my abilities in taking the roll of NRHH VP of Administration. Thank you for your time and consideration! Sincerely, Eric Lavi

March 28, 2013 Dear Makoto Ushihara National Residence Hall Honorary San Jose State University, I write this letter on the behalf of Eric Lavi, a candidate for the position of Vice President of Administration of the Makoto Ushihara chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) at San Jose State University for the year 2013-2014. Eric is a third year student at San Jose State University majoring in Psychology. He resides on campus in Campus Village Building B(CVB). His involvement with housing started of with being the Secretary of CVB Hall Government (2011-2012). From there on he decided to run for the position of Vice President of Administration for Residence Hall Association(RHA). He was elected as the Vice President of Administration for the year 2012-2013. Also in the Fall of 2012 he was inducted into NRHH as an active member. His progress has shown a lot of commitment towards the housing community. Along with his involvement in housing, Eric is also involved other organizations on campus like Mental Health Ambassador and is a part of Peer Connections as a Student Assistant. I have worked alongside Eric for the past two academic years, and i can contest that he has grown as a leader on campus. He has advancement in his skills and has been a positive role model to his peers around him. As a VP of Administration, Eric has successfully managed to set up an RHA website, where all Hall Government members and Resident Advisors can access all the necessary information and additional forms. In addition makes sure that Spartan Bullet is updated monthly and is sent out at the right time. His task also involves taking minutes at Quorum meetings and emailing them out. The minutes involve vital informations which members can refer back to. Furthermore, Eric as an active member of NRHH make sure he contributes to the progress of the organization. He makes sure that he meets all the necessary requirements of NRHH as a member. As a VP of Administration, Eric is in charge of the Help Our Planet Earth (HOPE) committee, which aims to engage the residents in contributing to promote a green environment. They have achieved this by organizing a recycling program. Eric’s achievements have shown that he is a team leader, and always excels at the task he takes on. I feel, he can definitely bring in his experiences to the VP Of Administration position in NRHH. I request, the membership to consider all of Eric qualities and hope they feel that he is best candidate for the position. Sincerely, Raj Powar Resident Advisor Campus Village B
